Heh I had a weird thing happen at a recent garage sale...it was run by an old couple clearing out their junk...they had a boxed Intellivision with about 15 boxed games, alright, score, I thought, so I moved in for the kill. "How much do you want for this stuff?" I asked. The wife looked at it and asked hubby "How much do you think this is worth?" Hubby shrugged and said "Oh, like five bucks". Yay, cool, I started reaching into my wallet, and SHE says "No, I was thinking more like twenty. How about twenty." I looked to hubby for some support here, but he was already off dealing with another customer. So I pulled out a 10 dollar bill and said "How about 10", and she said "No, I want 20 for it". CRAP! By this time hubby had gone inside, so there was no dealing with him. And like a sucker, I handed over the 20 because I did want the system and there were some other people sniffing around looking at it. Damn!!!!

Yes, true. As for my excellent feedback... another fun ebay anecdote, it's been tarnished this week by a newbie leaving me a neutral because he hadn't gotten his package yet. A package for which I had to pay half the shipping myself because the USPS website gave me an incorrect quote Great week for ebay huh...this lame feedback, that weird Motocross Racer thing that wouldn't let me bid, and my bargain bin 2600 auction. Hooray for The Bay!
-
No, I'm not going to relist, it'd be unfair to the bidder. C'est la vie.
-
Cap! Hello, thanks for bidding, and preventing the price from being even lamer than it turned out to be! I assume the $13 shipping was either media mail, or the seller was in your state or was one state away. Shipping prices are INSANE these days, here are some recent items I've shipped: Colecovision with 3 games, $17 (Priority) 6 PC joysticks, $18 (parcel post!!!!!!) 2600 with 30 loose games, $22 (Priority). Not from where I'm standing And to oesii, hi, I sold you a game recently didn't I? Anyway, yes the $20 is Priority, but it would cost $18 and change for 1st class too. I'm considering switching to using media mail for sending out systems in the future if this is how the auctions turn out!!!

Oops I didn't do the quoting right. What a newbie I am!

OK, I was severely disappointed with an auction I had ending today, I was expecting at least $90 for it, a nice clean system with a stack of boxed games, here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1389640709 Did I do something wrong? Was there some vital information that I forgot to put in and I just missed it, because I just can't figure out why this went so low. This is the worst price I've ever gotten on an Atari. I looked at some completed items and just about fell out of my chair when I saw this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1389809064 What the f*$! ??? Bare minimum description, a bullshit photo that looks like everything was just tipped out of a box onto the table and it sells for THAT MUCH?! AAAAARGH this is so frustrating. And a shamless plug, I have some rare carts (5 on the rarity scale) ending tomorrow...9.99 minimum bid on each, nobody's bid yet. Do my auctions smell or something?!

Get your Atari games "Professionally Cleaned"
dinovelvet replied to bcprs1's topic in Auction Central
Well those Q-tips can be dangerous, you know! You need to be a trained professional and have your licence in cartridge cleaning before you're allowed to go near an Atari cart. -
Yeah I've got Polaris I'm not definitely looking to get rid of it though...just curious what you've got to trade? I might be tempted to part with it if you have something juicy.
-
Yup I've got the 2600 game Guardian for trade...it's an 8 on the rarity list, I'd be interested in getting one of the more "famous" rare games for it, like Chuckwagon, Crazy Climber or Waterworld etc, and maybe Halloween or Texas chainsaw massacre. Or if nobody offers any of that stuff, I might be open to other trades, we'll see how it goes. I can scan it if anyone wants to take a look at it...it's in good shape, both labels intact, no peeling. Let me know!

I can't seem to get my 4 port 5200 to work...I've hooked everything up through the 'weird' switchbox that the power supply plugs into, switched the system on, and the red light comes on, BUT no picture, just snow on the tv. The snow does change slightly when I switch it on though, so it looks like it wants to work but there's a problem with the signal getting through. I know that the switch is supposed to 'click' when you switch the system on, but it is not clicking. Any ideas?

Looking for some common Colecovision carts, I just picked up a spare system and want some games to go with it. I can trade common/uncommon 2600s for them, as well as some NES games. let me know what you have! (I don't need Donkey kong though)
-
Found a joystick I'd never seen before, a Wico Q-stick. It's red and has two black fire buttons...I looked this up in the Digital press guide and on this site but couldn't find any info about it. Does anyone else have one? Is it an ultra-rare piece of hardware?
-
Hmm well I can trade a few carts...I don't have a trade list written up at the moment though, any specific games you're looking for? I've got quite a few spare 3s and 4s from the rarity list
-
Anyone have a spare 7800 deck? I've got the power supply and joysticks for it, I just need the actual console!! I can pay, not ebay prices though or trade uncommon-ish stuff, well let me know if you've got one and we'll see if we can figure it out.
-
I don't know the seller, but his feedback is not as bad as it looks...one neg. is because he charged a fee for using Paypal and the other two negs are from the same guy. He's never had a neg for not sending an item anyway, and the picture is obviously not a fake...so...hmm
-
Hey Lemmi, thanks for the tip, I snapped it up Yeah it is pretty cheap, not really bargain basement, but a good price nevertheless. Can't wait to finally play Mad Dog McCree with an actual gun!
-
So who IS Tim Atwood and why does this nutcase have such a beef with him?
-
Yep I got the messages from ebay too...that guy is outta here. It was a good group effort on our part!
-
Hi everybody, I used Buy It Now to get Glib, Condor Attack and Crazy Climber. I did think it was a bit odd that he had two of each of these games, but his feedback checked out ok so I didn't think there was anything to get suspicious about. Then I was contacted by Pitfall Harry and read all this! So is anyone on here going to pay up? He sent me an email saying that the Paypal account was his brother's. The advantage of using Paypal is that they will refund 100% of your payment if the seller doesn't send anything, so there's no real risk. (Yet I'm still reluctant to actually send anything!!!) Or even if you just pay another way, ebay will refund you (except they'll take a $20 deductible) if he turns out to be fraudulent.
-
Well providing false contact info. is against eBay rules, so I'm sure they'll look into that. I guess now we'll just wait and see how things pan out in the next few days. In the meantime I won't be sending any money...

and "baby98", also in Kentucky/Cincinnati, selling NES Hot slots and Peek a boo poker. This can't be a coincidence, that three people in Cincinnati all decide to sell their ultra rare games at the same time, using similar auction templates.
-
More fuel for the fire... Look up the ebay user "buzz46". He is in the same location and is using the same auction template, and is auctioning ultra rare games for all kinds of systems. Again, the pictures all look like they've been taken from websites. Looks like the same person.
-
Good idea writing to ebay; although, I doubt they will/can do much...the guy has a perfect reputation as far as they're concerned. Still, it'll be interesting to hear what they say about it. And have we heard from: buyatari, smile_walle, atariwarlord, ntavio and gpdcomics ? Any of these guys paid/planning to pay?
-
More about Paypal...well his account is "verified" (despite being only 5 days old!) so it does qualify as protected under Paypals terms. Or if Paypal doesn't help you for whatever reason, you can file through ebay, they'll give you a refund, minus a $20 deductible, which isn't too bad, better just losing $20 than $150 or whatever. BTW with all his bold and highlighted listings, the seller has spent probably about $100 just on listing fees for these. Anyway, I'm not going to pay up yet, I'll wait for proof from him or someone else who won an auction of his.
