Possible weird bidder - NARU'd after two days?
dinovelvet replied to dinovelvet's topic in Auction Central
Well I have asked him for an explanation, and I've said I'm not going to send anything out until he either gets his account reinstated, either that or I'll just cancel the payment. We'll see if there's any response to that. BTW another slightly odd thing is that in the Paypal payment I got he asked me to please ship it as quickly as possible. Why - because he knows the credit card will be cancelled in a few days? I dunno, too many weird things going on here. -
Possible weird bidder - NARU'd after two days?
dinovelvet replied to dinovelvet's topic in Auction Central
OK so I emailed him asking why he was NARU'd, he answered thusly : 'Im not sure why, but whatever the reason, I paid for the item so please deliver it. Thanks! ' That didn't help his case at all. Seems a little rude/arrogant to me and doesn't get me on his side. Any advice? I don't suppose ebay will tell me anything if I ask why he's been NARU'd. -
Pikmin is already rare, sealed copies are selling for $50 on ebay

Possible weird bidder - NARU'd after two days?
dinovelvet replied to dinovelvet's topic in Auction Central
Yeah if this was an item over $50, I wouldn't hesitate to cancel the transaction at any sign of weirdness, I'd just send the Paypal money back and relist it. But I'll play ball for the moment and see what happens. I asked him directly why he's been NARU'd, we'll see what he has to say. -
OK here's something a little weird. Noobie BINs a game of mine and pays with paypal. Then while looking through 'my ebay' page, I noticed he is no longer a registered user. Checking up on this, I see he joined on Jan 27?! How can you be NARU'd in two days? Even more strangely, he's bought another copy of the same game from someone else. Here's his activity : http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...&rows=25&sort=3 I just checked my Paypal account and the payment is there, appears to be valid. So...what's the deal here? Should I just cancel the transaction and send a refund? Something is definitely fishy here IMHO

I'd pay $400, but $401 is just ridiculous!
-
If you look at his Intellivision auction, he claims to have 75 games (not pictured, of course) for that system too. They're obviously not his photos either. Definitely something fishy here.

Lots of rare Colecovision games - Last 24 hours
dinovelvet replied to dinovelvet's topic in Auction Central
Bump...these auctions end Wednesday! -
Well so much for this "flagship" title for the 360 launch. As a fan of the N64 Perfect Dark I was eagerly anticipating this game. Unfortunately the new one stinks, for several reasons. Firstly, the overall look. In the original, Joanna Dark was a cool female James Bond-like character, now she appears to be a 16 year old who dresses like a mallrat. I know this is a prequel and she is supposed to be younger, but this game reeks of being Poochied. I'm sure Rare received numerous notes from Microsoft saying "Make it more appealing to American teenagers". Hence the new midriff-baring Joanna Dark who has mysteriously become American (she was British in the original) and blaring techno music rather than the atmospheric background tunes of the N64 game. Still, all of this is basically window dressing. As long as the gameplay is solid, it doesn't matter, right? Well there are problems there too. The difficulty settings are inappropriate IMHO. I started playing on Perfect Agent (hardest) and it was insanely hard, the equivalent of Legendary difficulty on Halo. So I switched to Secret agent (medium) and it was too easy, I didn't get killed once in the first couple of levels. You can literally stand still and take numerous bullets without taking any significant damage. I just can't get the right difficulty setting to suit me. The controller sensitivity is just...strange, too. I don't know how else to describe it. I've tried adjusting the settings but it hasn't made a lick of difference, I can't seem to get any kind of decent aim here. As for the online, its one of THOSE shooters. The kind where you can use a Superdragon to launch a grenade at someone, then unload half a clip on him, but while the guy is standing there taking bullets, he can aim and drop you with ONE shot to the head. So, basically its pointless to bother picking up different kinds of weapons. I'm not a noob at online shooters, I've played lots of different ones and have done decently, but this is just one of those games where its all headshots, headshots, headshots and any attempt at close combat is just a joke. So, RIP Perfect Dark. A great N64 game. Come back, Elvis, all is forgiven

Cancelled current generation games
dinovelvet replied to SteveW's topic in Modern Console Discussion
There was a game based on The Shield for the Xbox which looks like its disappeared. I would have bought it! -
Yeah they were sold at the CG Expo in 2000 I think? Or '01.
-
I sold mine on the 'bay last year, got $202.50

The user's id is buildabearfan. So what do you think: is it my lucky chance granted to me by god to help some disadvantaged kids or is it a scam? 968905 LOL - looking at their bid history, they've bought FOUR Gamecube systems in the past couple of weeks, each with a bunch of games (including Mario Party 5), and they dropped over $250 on it all. "That's about all we can do", yeah right, I don't think those kids are exactly desperate with four Gamecubes in the house...

Just out of even more morbid curiosity, I checked on the USPS website exactly how heavy a package needed to be to cost $120.72 shipped from Saranac, MI to Southern California, and the answer is 69 pounds. I put my two super action controllers into a cardboard box and weighed them. They weigh five pounds. Therefore we can conclude that these super action controllers are the ultra rare "made of lead" editions.
-
I agree, but I think its deliberate in this seller's case; if you look at their previous auctions, the shipping is outrageous and inflated in all of them. BTW on the super action controllers auction, I got a parcel post shipping quote of $120.72, can anyone beat that?

Saw this auction and was surprised to see it went for so little. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8231888981 Just out of curiosity I entered my zipcode into the shipping calculator. Then I understood why.

If you've played the 360 demo, what did you think?
dinovelvet replied to Mr_8bit_16bit's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I played the Call of duty demo but it didn't sway my opinion either way, it wasn't a game I was interested in. The flat screen tv was impressive though! The only launch titles I want are Perfect dark zero and Condemned and you can't play those at the kiosk... -
360 Backwards Compatibility List...
dinovelvet replied to Clint Thompson's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Yeah not to mention all those 2K2 and 2K3 sports games Anyway, what bizarre selections, I just bought brand spankin' new releases From Russia with love and Star Wars Battlefront II, why aren't they compatible, when bargain bin crapfests like STAKE and ROGUE OPS are?! Nobody played those on the Xbox, who the hell is going to play them on the 360?? -
What the hell! Its a 2 man bidding war, but neither of them are newbies, they should know better!

This auction : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8231915060 Attracted the following question. I swear to God, this was copied and pasted word for word with no alterations : hey juz wanna ask a few questions before i decide to buy it...iz it realli sealed n new? and do u take a check? write back...thankz I mean...Jesus Christ. I stared and stared at this question in utter disbelief for a disturbingly long time. Some days you just feel like packing up and quitting ebay for good, dontcha?

Please don't suck - please, please
dinovelvet replied to maibock's topic in Modern Console Discussion
The thing is, even if Rare held onto the Bond licence and produced another Bond game today, years after Goldeneye (say, an adaptation of DIE ANOTHER DAY) it just wouldn't be as good as Goldeneye. So much about GE was revolutionary, the 4 player split screen, the 'dual-wielding', the film-to-videogame transition, bonus unlockable levels and characters, all those things have been done to death in other games now. It was a game of firsts, it was lightning in a bottle, basically a success that would be impossible to replicate. -
any of these cheap xbox titles worth getting
dinovelvet replied to ATARIeric's topic in Modern Console Discussion
is second sight multiplayer ? 958075 No, its a third person action game where you have psychic powers and you can use your brain to throw people across the room and such. Pretty good fun, I bought it for $20 and wasn't disappointed.
