  1. As a Canadian who buys a lot of games, DVDs, toys and even GUITARS from other countries, I have to say that I think it's absolutely ridiculous that someone would think it's necessary to file a Paypal complaint after waiting only three or four weeks for something to arrive from the US, ESPECIALLY over the Christmas period! I have frequently waited in excess of four weeks to receive very ordinary packages from the US, and thanks to the retarded monkey we've put in charge of our dispossessed Customs Agency, that's not likely to improve any time soon. I wouldn't even bother the seller about the transaction until at least five weeks had passed... When purchasing guitars back in the day before Paypal, I would actually use Money Orders or Bank Transfers to send the seller the money BEFORE the guitar was shipped. This is hundreds or thousands of dollars per instrument, changing hands based on a phone call and a gentleman's agreement. With more than 50 guitar deals done that way, I never, ever was "ripped off". I can't imagine why anyone would send money to someone they didn't think they could trust in the first place, and if that's the case, why would you file a Paypal dispute without giving them every opportunity to come through for you? What's the deadline on a Paypal dispute filing, anyway? I would certainly give the seller until at least the day before the deadline before filing a complaint, and I think any REASONABLE buyer should be more than willing to do the same, especially over a pittance like $30...
  2. Well, I don't know for certain, but I really rather doubt it... I suspect that the Jag pulled a lot more amps than the Lynx ever could - unless you're absolutely sure it's a match, don't try it because you'll probably fry your Lynx!
  3. I love my Microvision - my 14 year old son and I frequently have Blockbuster competitions passing the system back and forth between us trying to beat the each other's high score... That game gets seriously crazy after a while!
  4. I bought my AES brand new in 1991... I sold it a few years later with the eleven games I owned by then, most of which were purchased used, but I had bought some new. Fatal Fury, Magician Lord and Samurai Showdown were three of the games I got new and they cost me around $200 each, and Nam 1975 came with the system, of course. Most of the rest I picked up for about $70-$100 each used. It sounds like a lot, but I'd spend more than that on a night out drinking, so at the time it seemed lika a reasonable way to spend my entertainment $$$... It's good to be young and relatively free of responsibility so you can blow money on crazy things like this. Of course, now I just play all the games on my computer in emulation when I get the urge, or on my PSP or GP2X...
  5. Dear Anthony, I can understand why you wouldn't "appropriate the sarcasms" (ap-pro-pri-ate: [-verb used with object] to set apart, authorize, or legislate for some specific purpose or use) in your "Single Asteroid Cartridge 4 Sale trend" (trend: [-noun] style; vogue). I'm sorry that you were "snickered with remarks" (snick-er: [-verb] to laugh in a half-suppressed, indecorous or disrespectful manner) though I have to admit that I'm surprised that you "excepted more from members here in AA" (ex-cept: [-conjunction] otherwise than; but). As it is, I can see why you were "not intrigued with" our actions (in-trigue: [-verb used with object] to arouse the curiosity or interest of; appeal strongly to; captivate) and I'm not a bit surprised when you say "However, I'm NOT to the members who did what they did" (sic). Of course, I ultimately don't have a clue as to what you're on about, and judging by your flagrant misuse of the English language, I strongly suspect neither do you. Might I suggest that the next time you attempt to use multisyllabic (mul-ti-syl-la-bic: [-adjective] of many syllables; a polysyllable) words to feign eloquence (el-o-quence: [-noun] the practice or art of using language with fluency and aptness), you avail yourself of a dictionary in the interests of not coming across as a complete prat (prat: [-noun slang] the buttocks)?
  6. There is... it's called a GP2X... Conveniently, it can also be a Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, NES, Game Boy, Neo Geo, Genesis, Turbografx-16, SNES and CPS2 Arcade Cabinet, to varying degrees of success... I use mine mostly for CPS2, Genesis and Neo Geo emulation (all are excellent) but I play Lynx games on it occasionally when I'm too lazy to get my Lynx out... GP2X Wiki I wouldn't mind seeing Atari release a "mini Lynx", a small, inexpensive SoC with twenty or thirty games on board, similar to what Coleco did with the Game Gear with Sega's blessing (see this thread). I've got one of the little Coleco/Sega systems and it's really is brilliant for the price - nice screen, nice controls, good games, and I paid $16 for mine.

    Lynx bag

Well, there are two official Lynx cases - three if you count the different sizes (long and short) for the smaller size case... The case pictured in the auction you link to is the smaller size: the two front pockets comfortably hold four games each, maybe five if you squeeze. The twelve web pockets in the large case can easily hold 2 carts a piece so 24 games is easy there - I'm pretty sure I stuffed more than that into mine back in the day... Anyway, the short answer is no, the pictured "long" case does not hold 24 game carts. You need to buy the large "briefcase style" case for that.
  8. Meant to post this yesterday - it's a bit too rich for my blood, but I just love the idea! This will no doubt make someone an awesome Christmas present... It's clear that it's not really "portable" - I think this thing would make the Lynx look compact! I wonder how much the thing weighs? (click the pic to go to the ebay auction)
  9. I had to practically give away my some of my Genesis stuff to get rid of it. A Genesis, Sega CD, and games seems to go for $30 tops. I think the value problem is because it was so overshadowed in it's generation by the SNES. It's a good system on paper, but most people prefer the colorful and smooth games from the SNES. I still have a Genesis, but I play my SNES much more. The Genesis isn't a bad system, but I always found that other than Sonic games I personally have more fun with the SNES. However, for somebody who likes Beat 'em Ups and action games, the Genesis is the better system IMO. Well, another contributing factor might be the fact that you can get a pixel perfect Genesis Emulator running on just about anything, which isn't necessarily true of the SNES... I don't know why the prices are so depressed really, but I'm happy to take advantage of the fact that you can pick up all kinds of great games for dirt cheap!!
  10. I think it's better than the Jag's Pinball Fantasies. Ya, but compared to it's contemporary portable pinball games like Devil's Crash on the TurboExpress or even Revenge of the Gator on the Game Boy, Pinball Jam is pretty sub-par... I love video pinball, but I have a hard time fighting with that game for too long - it's just too hard to figure out what's going on! On the other hand, I was playing Devil's Crash today - 15 years later and I still need to hit that game every couple weeks... I'm as addicted to it as I am to California Games on the Lynx... Which reminds me, theking21083 didn't mention California Games in his opening post. GO OUT AND BUY IT ASAP! California Games is a Lynx MUST HAVE!!
  11. Ah... seems there's a new Warhammer game besides the card game one... I bought the old one - Warhammer Battle for Atluma - last night at EB for $8... My son played it for a couple hours and said it was a good card battle game, but little more. The new one looks much more promising...
  12. The Warhammer game for PSP is a card game - I've heard mixed things about it, mostly to the effect that if you like the Warhammer card game you'll like the PSP game, but that is all it is, so otherwise you're not likely to be very interested in it... I'm sure I'll pick it up eventually as it goes pretty cheap used around here, but I haven't gotten around to it yet...
  13. My local magazine shop is expecting their shipment next Friday - they very conveniently put a "rec'd date" sticker on the cover of each UK mag they stock, so I can see that Issue 42 arrived Oct. 12, so getting issue 43 on Nov. 16 (as they only stock imports on Fridays) is pretty much as expected... It's coming... It's coming...
  14. I cannot wait for this one to hit the shelves... The PSP is drowning in excellent titles this Fall/Winter - I don't know when I'm going to find the time to play them all, but I'm buyin' them all!! Anyway, I've already got all the retro compilations released to date (including Parodius and Twin Bee!!), and this one will just be icing on the proverbial cake!
  15. I guess I'm in the minority, as I much prefer the Lynx I - partly because I find it more comfortable to hold, partly because I much prefer the D-Pad on the Lynx II to the fat cross they put in the Lynx II, and partly because I've a sentimental attachment to my first Lynx that the latter model doesn't hold for me... At any rate, I always prefer to use my Lynx I over my Lynx II - it just feels better to me!
  16. I will be getting this, but I'm too busy with Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles and playing with my new NEO PCE Flash Cart on my TurboExpress to get around to the local EB yet... Soon though... Maybe later this weekend!
  17. Hey Congrats! The Lynx is a great system - it won't be long before you're expanding your game library, no doubt... Now you need to convince a friend to buy one and get a comLynx cable!!
  18. I predict the Wii will run away with the season (again!) as Mom's and Dad's put what the kids want under the tree and look forward to fun with Wii Sports during Xmas vacation (just like the Neighbours!)... The 360 will follow, but not that closely - I'm guestimating its sales will trail the Wii's by about 30%. The DS will outsell everything but the Wii, and the PSP will probably come in third place in front of the 360... PS2 will continue to outsell the PS3, which will remain so far in the background that it might just as well not bother showing up at the party... And that's the way it's going to be... just watch...
  19. We've got a TurboGrafx-16, two Dreamcasts, a PSOne, a PS2, a Game Cube and an XBox in the house, but what we collect are handhelds: From top left and following semi-logical columns, the systems are : MIB Atari Lynx I, MIB Bandai Wonderswan (Pearl White), MIB Bandai Swancrystal (Violet), Wonderswan, Bandai Wonderswan Color, Swancrystal (#2), SNK NeoGeo Pocket Color version 1 (crystal), SNK NeoGeo Pocket Color version 1 (silver), SNK NeoGeo Pocket (blue camo), SNK NeoGeo Pocket Color version 2 (metalic blue), (btt) MIB Tiger R-Zone, NEC TurboExpress, Game Park Holdings GP2X, original Nintendo Game Boy (x3), Game Boy Pocket (black), Game Boy Light (silver), Pokemon Edition Game Boy Color (x2), Game King I, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo Game Boy Micro (x2), Game Boy Advance SP (x4), Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite (x3), (btt) Milton Bradley Microvision, Nintendo Game & Watch Donkey Kong Hockey, Atari Lynx I (#2), Atari Lynx II (x2), Sega Nomad, Sega Game Gear (x2), Tiger game.com, Tiger R-Zone, Sony PSP (x2), Quickshot Supervision and a Watara Supervision... Handhelds are great to collect because you don't need to worry about how you're going to hook them up to the TV, and they're small and easy to store away... Here's how they're displayed in our basement:
  20. The 3.52-4 M33 firmware is an Open Edition firmware made by a Russian group of PSP hackers who have taken over where Dark Alex left off when he mysteriously "retired" from the PSP firmware scene some two or three months ago. The Russian team has done some great things with the firmware, including hacking the PSP Slim launch firmware and providing an Open Edition alternative for it within a few days of launch. Their 3.52-4 M33 firmware is the latest and greatest OE firmware you can run on your PSP phat right now... currently, I'm running 3.40OE myself until I can get off my lazy ass and put together a pandora's battery - then I'll upgrade... Check out the frequently abrasive but always informative MaxConsole.net PSP forums for all the dirt on the scene today... There's lots of reading and lots of nonsense, but the good stuff there is invaluable...
  21. I remember when you'd go there to get the Mattel LCD handhelds like Football... And Radio Shack was one of the few stores in the city that actually carried the TurboGrafx-16 back in the day - I had to buy my first TurboExpress there because no one else in the city had one... They were still selling TG16 games at full price three years after TTI discontinued the Duo!
  22. It`s only something like "19% thinner", so I don't think you'll have any trouble fitting it decently in one of the softcases... The hard plastic form-fit ones, I would try it in first...
  23. Gawd... The irony is killing me... all this penis envy, over something called a Wii... Why can't the PS3 and Xbox360 owners get over the fact that Nintendo is doing well this generation?
  24. I can honestly say I'm buying one, regardless
  25. I know for a fact that the cables are not on the shelves around here yet... but they will be shortly... I think Sony pushed the package out a little quick in North America; they're going to need a little time to get their supply lines in order...
