  1. I'm not selectively reading anything, or taking anything out of context. Period. Can you actually prove that, or just put a period at the end of the sentence and hope it kinda makes it sound like you might be right?
  2. Astrocade is quite simply an amazing console. Anyone who thinks otherwise has either never played it or is jealous because they can't win one on eBay.
  3. These are all excellent systems with amazing games. I am going to assume you're just jealous because you don't own them.
  4. I wonder if this thread wouldn't be more suited for Classic Gaming General? I have a thing for odd systems myself (original model, CIB). I gave a Game.com and a few games. I think it's neat how they tried to make it internet enabled. However, most of the games I've played are really bad. My Copy of RE2 for it is still sealed, but I busted out "Sonic Jam" and the frame rate is so bad it's unplayable. I have a Tiger R-Zone, the head gear one, still sealed too. The three "spat upon" consoles that I really enjoy are Fairchild Channel-F, Microvision, and Magnavox Odyssey (1972). People seem to talk an abundance of shit about these systems, but they're great, and have some great games. Odyssey is awesome just for the gun alone, the novelty, and how primitive it is.
  5. May I remind you, there are Brutes in Halo 1, so this is not a halo 2-only flaw. wrong, those were hunters or something. They take about the same amount of ammo to kill too. They irritate me The Hunters (you got it) were a pain to kill and it kinda sucked that I couldn't grab their fuel rod guns. Three plasma grenades to kill? That was a rough part. If they hadn't been so hard to kill then watching them waddle around would have been comical. Hunters are actually easier to kill than the elites. They take two pistol shots to the back or neck area.
  6. 1. Not true. All of the outdoor levels were pretty big, with the exception of maybe the Ruins and when you fly the ghost down the river. Obviously, indoor places are more confined. Name one outdoor area that isn't really a corridor! The largest outdoor area in Halo 2 is the bridge. It's essentially a corridor, as are all of the outdoor areas. You never get close to the scale of Halo. Even if you're lucky enough to get a banshee on the bridge they won't let you fly it off to the side or else you crash into an invisible wall. Halo never pulled that shit. You could go anywhere that you could see. That is true. And that was awesome in multiplayer. But wouldn't you really rather have the pistol? I mean really? It's not a lack of skill. Four sniper shots to the head is ridiculous. I can make four head shots, I'd just rather not waste the ammo. Bungie admitted as such and changed the brutes to act like elites in Halo 3. I agree with you except for the no need to cloak part. On legendary the game doesn't give enough ammo to beat the brutes in some areas. You need to cloak to conserve it for other areas. 5. Never noticed. Maybe the brightness/contrast setting should be changed. I can't think of any part that was dark except where the red markers were on the floor. I believe it! I beat most of the game on heroic with just gun buts and vehicle kills one time, lol. You know what I am thinking? It's time for a Halo LAN party!
  7. They are. I mean no offense, I just don't see those things as "games." Yes, I know I am in the minority, so I'll back away slowly.
  8. This thread is starting to remind me of a time that I got into an argument with a dude who insisted that the 2600 version of Pac-Man was better than the arcade! :!: Then I guess you're insane because these following statements of yours are not facts, they are obvious opinions. "Literally the entire game takes place in a corridor."--Actually, this one isn't an opinion, it's just plain wrong. It's not wrong. You may think you're outside, but there's no wide and free roaming playfield anywhere in the entire game. Name fucking one! Can't? Because I am right. Bungie admitted this, and apologized, and put the battle rifle back in Halo 3. It's a statement of fact that's also true. By the way, way to totally ignore the fact that Master Chief can't hold the very weak automatic human weapon straight and can flip a tank. Maybe you don't think that's a fact either? Or what of the fact that they nerf'd the pistol by replacing it with the magnum, making it as useless as a firecracker? Why not quote everything I said and not just part of what I said? Here's the rest of that statement: "The damn things just don't die. They're not kind of intelligent like the Elites were in Halo, they're just crazy retard strong and insanely difficult to kill." The complaint is they don't use strategy like the elites did in Halo 1. They're nothing but guys who are really hard to kill. Their only power is that they can take a lot of bullets. The things can literally take four head shots with the human sniper rifle. How is any of that A) not factual and B) not ridiculous? What you're doing is called lying by omission. I'm not sure if that's better or worse than insanity.
  9. Another thing that really impressed me was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53rFDk1-BDQ I've always said that these crappy "Simon" music-genre games should be more like instruments and actually teach kids a skill. Because being good at Guitar Hero is just about the most pathetic thing ever. I had this conversation at some length with some dude at Comicon, and he ended up crying. I am stoked to see this game being made. And the guitar is a real freaking guitar. How cool is that? What amazes me is that they finally made a real guitar game, but biffed it when it came to the drums. Drums would be much easier to do, though perhaps more expensive, considering that you're just hitting things. The the game uses air drums, which as a drummer, I can tell you that it's a complete joke. A rudimentary "pad" kit that's properly configured can be made on the very cheap. An actual electric kit could be sold to those willing to pay, and a trigger system could be sold to those who already have kits. I would so buy a game and spend money on new tracks if it used actual music and I didn't have to do a hack to get triggers set up in my real drums and tie it into the game. Finally, I don't know if this is a feature in the game, but I'd really like to see some actual tablature and sheet music along with the colorful queues as an option. Since we're finally going to teach people how to play music, the least we can do is teach them how to read it as well.
  10. Tommy LaSorda was an EA game. tommy lasorda was a sega game http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/getinfo.pl?ID=U-040-S-06250-A tony larussa was an ea game http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/getinfo.pl?ID=U-040-S-06260-A its easy to get italian baseball managers with the initials TL confused Well, I stand corrected! *puts on dunce hat* I remember being impressed by the talking in "Sports Talk Baseball" back in the day, but it still bothers me how the voice doesn't get excited when there's a home run.
  11. So, Atari was imitating Fairchild by making the world's third reprogrammable game console?
  12. Haha.. I guess this is the start of official Dreamcast ports to modern systems, something that was talked about here earlier this week, I think. I know it's kinda sad, but even though I probably have all the Dreamcast games they'll release, and I have a VGA adapter, I'll probably be buying most of these games haha. At the very least, cleaned up textures, online play, and true HD is going to be quite nice! Now if only they'd start doing this with Saturn games... I think I'd have a heart attack Who said anything about true HD? They looked almost the same as on a VGA, with only a little fixes here and there. I did. Does VGA do widescreen? No, but they are making all games widescreen. Does VGA do sound through the same device? No. Are the downloadable DC games going to look as blurry (textures) as the originals? No, they already said they were bumping up the texture resolution. That's what I meant by true HD. VGA is nice and all, but it has it's drawbacks. That's not "true HD." They're not in 1080p or anything.
  13. As for Legendary on Halo 1, it's not really that hard once you know the maps. All of the enemies are predictable, and if you know where everything is, you can carry the sniper rifle through the whole game. I can usually plow through it on one life. Also, in the library, use shot guns and you'll be just fine. You can also shoot the limbs off of the flood with the pistol and they can't hurt you. They'll follow you around and get in the way of other flood. This is especially useful in later levels where the covenant will go after your "pet" flood half the time. They draw the fire. Items one through six are facts. Look it up. And I disagree with your opinion about what constitutes a fact. Disagreeing with the definition of the word "fact" isn't a valid position. It's more like insanity. "I disagree that Barack Obama is President." Okay, but it's still a fact that he is, just as it's a fact that the in Halo 2 they removed the pistol and battle rifle, just as it's a fact that Master Chief can't hold the new automatic weapon still, just as it's a fact that in legendary on co-op when one player dies both have to start over, just as it's a fact that the lighting is fucked up and the flashlight doesn't work, just as it's a fact that the brutes can take four head shots with a sniper rifle sometimes and not die... et cetera. Facts, sir. Use that link I gave you. I don't think you understand the meaning of the word.
  14. Joystiq is full of shyte. Sonic 4 has horrible controls.
  15. Items one through six are facts. Look it up.

  17. What is Sonic Adventure being released on, or was it just on display for shits 'n giggles? XBL and PSN. They had some Sega guys walking around in t-shirts that said "Look who's back" on the front with a DC swirl, and on the back it said, "Dreamcast - September 2010" with the logo.
  18. In response to the "first in line/day one" comments, my question to you all is simply this: Why? Don't get me wrong, I love(d) Sega. Don't believe me? I own a SG-1000 clone, Master System, Genesis, CDX, Game Gear, 32X, Saturn, and Dreamcast. I own more games for Genesis than any other console, and Dreamcast is number 2, and Saturn is number 3. I have a near complete US 32X collection. Sega today isn't the same company that built the Dreamcast, the games, and everything that came before it. Yu Suzuki and Yuji Naka are gone. Most of Sega's successes these days are just games they published. If they made a new console what games could the put on it? PlatinumGames, not Sega, were responsible for Sega's sole E3 hit this year. Sonic 4 is just a mess, and Sonic Colors is so easy it's hardly fun. Their best in house game was Yakuza, and it was boring and uninspired. You fight six guys who just stand around and do nothing as you beat the piss out of one guy at a time. It's boring and their health bars are like never ending. If I bought a new Sega console what would there be to play on it? After the failure of Sonic 4, what hope is there? I mean, if they can't make a good 2D Sonic game on Xbox 360, then what can they do right? Sega is as dead as Atari. It's just not the same company anymore. Of course, you can always hold out hope for Segacom.
  19. Halo 2 isn't anywhere close to as as good as Halo 1, and for the following reasons: Halo 2 doesn't have the kind of expansive levels that Halo had, which is one of the things that made Halo such a big deal. To boost graphic level size took at hit. Literally the entire game takes place in a corridor. The weapons suck. I can understand why the nerf'd the pistol, but taking away the battle rifle? The only full auto human weapon is a joke. And Master Chief, who is strong enough to flip tanks can't hold these guns still? GTFOOHWTBS! The Brutes are ri-fucking-diculous. The damn things just don't die. They're not kind of intelligent like the Elites were in Halo, they're just crazy retard strong and insanely difficult to kill. Playing as the arbitrator sucks. If it's not bad enough that you're not Master Chief the whole time, (Didn't they learn anything from Sega's Sonic Adventure?), his levels are designed to favor using the cloak to run past the enemies like a damn coward. And he doesn't have a flashlight. Speaking of a flashlight, the lighting in the game is jacked, and must of the time you want to use your flashlight, it doesn't work. When playing co-op on Legendary if one player dies then both must start over. The only cool thing in Halo 2 is that you finally get to use the sword and it advances the story. Oh, and XBL support, but that's done and over with now. Back when Halo 2 came out I defended it and pretended it was good too. Try playing through Halo or Halo 3 and then pick up Halo 2 and tell me it doesn't suck just as much ass as I said it does. Halo 2 is horrible by comparison to Halo and Halo 3. The game sucks. It's terrible.
  20. That last fatality made me squirm and laugh at the same time haha. Seriously, Mortal Kombat looks amazing. What looks like some muddy textures in some places, but it's still in development. Hopefully that will be addressed. But otherwise, it's about time another great fighter came along. I wasn't a big fan of Street Fighter 4 or Soul Calibur 4 (both ruined my love for their series) so hopefully with Mortal Kombat and Marve VS Capcom 3, I can have some great fighters again. It played just like MvC2, but with characters that look more like SF4.
  21. It's not unusual at all. Both Sony and Microsoft have announced, well before this year's E3, that it'll be 2012 to 2015 before they plan a new generation. It would've been unusual if one were announced. Nintendo is just happy to be selling a console. And besides, we got Kinect and 3DS this year.
