  1. I was pretty emotionally attached to my Dreamcast. Does that count as modern?
  2. Here's an interview with me in the Arizona Republic: http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/a...egames0701.html
  3. I guess you forgot about Phantasy Star II, III, and IV, Shining Force I and II, Shining in the Darkness, Warsong, Landstalker, Beyond Oasis, Sword of Vermilion, Shadowrun, Light Crusader, Crusader of Centy, Dungeons and Dragons, Rings of Power, Exile, Y's III, and that's just off the top of my head, not including some major RPGs on Sega CD. Since when has a light gun game ever been a big hit on a home console?!?
  4. I concur. This game is horrible. Any version, any console, it's just bad. And the cartoon sucked too!
  5. A lot of local game stores here look on eBay to ensure eBayers aren't preying on their store as resellers. Many actually refuse business to shady buyers, which is quite nice. That actually sounds like dumb business. I am not a reseller, but if I were, what's the difference between selling it to me for $X all at once, and selling it slowly to a bunch of different people for exactly the same price?
  6. I ditto this post. It's the first time I've ever heard, let alone seen proof, that the Channel F II was released by Fairchild.
  7. Here's a fun article: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/...promoid=googlep
  8. How's this? http://www.consolecity.com/forum/showthrea...ighlight=imagic
  9. I probably should've read this thread before posting, but what the heck. Here are my suggestions: Snatcher - This is one of the best adventure games ever on any platform. It's low production run makes it pricey, but it's well worth every cent. Sonic CD - A unique entry in the Sonic series. If you like Sonic, then this is a must. Popful Mail - A fun RPG where you're not saving the world, the kingdom, and there's no impending doom. It's a side scrolling action platformer with a level system. Very good. Slipheed - If you like hard shooters, then you'll like this. If you don't, then skip it. Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side - What do you get if you combined Mortal Kombat with Street Fighter? Someone at Sega once asked that, and then they came up with Eternal Champions. This is a very competent fighter, and the Sega CD version is much better than the Genesis counterpart. Dark Wizard - Another RPG, but this time the focus is strategy. Instead of the usual four directional movement, like in Shining Force, it uses a hex system. Shining Force CD - This is the combination of the Game Gear Shining Force games, with one extra play mode. A must have, especially since one one of those games came to the US. Tomcat Alley - I must be joking! Really, I'm not. I know it's an FMV game. I know I am supposed to hate it. But once I figured out the controls and how the game actually works, not only is it playable, it's actually fun. Also, it costs less than $5, so really, it's not like you can really go wrong. Earthworm Jim: Special Edition - It's like the Genesis version, only with a lot of extra levels and way better sound. The Secret of Monkey Island - It's on my must buy list, because it's a must own game. It's a pure adventure from LucasArts, back when they were legendary. This is a straight up pure adventure, and it's fantastic. There are lots of other games that I understand are fantastic, they're just in genres that don't attract me. For example, Lunar 1 & 2 are praised turn based RPGs, and Robo Aleste and Keio Flying Squadron are praised shooters.
  10. Sounds like a store in my area. The old owner was great, but one of his employees bought it from him, and now he thinks everything is gold. I have to wait up to 15 min to get a price on an atari 2600 cart, and he usually quotes it at 2X atari2600.com's price is or a high ebay price. he sits there and searches the web for prices while you stand there. Drives me nuts. He has no clue that I'd spend about $30-40 a month in his store if he had more realistic prices and had the games marked. As it is, I may spend $100 per year there instead... maybe, and on new stuff only. Oh, you're also talking about Games Plus, I see.
  11. In the Phoenix Metro area there is a store in Mesa called Games Plus. The idiots who now own it don't even put prices on the games. And if there are price tags on them, they don't go by them. When you bring something up to the counter, they actually check eBay right in front of you, and then mark up the game 10% from whatever it last sold for, or use some ridiculous BIN price as the actual value. I straight walked out of that store. I told them if I wanted to shop on eBay, then I won't leave my house. What a bunch of assholes.
  12. Then there are franchises like Sonic, Mario, Shinobi, Castlevania, Zelda, Contra, Street Fighter, Mega Man, et cetera, that just keep getting updates every few years.
  13. I own Ed Hunter. It comes free with the Ed Hunter CD set. Yes, it's as bad as everyone says, but you dig Iron Maiden, then the compilation disc isn't bad.
  14. I dunno.... Sega CDX JVC X'Eye Magnavox Odyssey Magnavox Odyssey^2 Telegames Personal Arcade a.k.a. DINA 2 in One (Plays both Sega SG-1000 and ColecoVision games) Fairchild Channel F Tiger R-Zone Tiger Game.com Nintendo Virtual Boy Atari Jaguar (heh) VM Labs NUON NES (top loader) Bally Astrocade RCA Studio II GCE Vectrex SSD Co. XaviXPorT View-Master InteractiveVision Milton Bradley Microvision Are any of those obscure? Right now, three of them are on loan to a museum, and I miss them.
  15. If anyone can help me find any of these, that would be awesome: Bally Astrocade: Cosmic Raiders (2019) Sea Wold And Bombardier (2002) Elementary Math And Bingo Math Tiger R-Zone Indy 500 Thanks!
  16. Umm... Like what are you going to do to make it "better"?
  17. So, I finally played Planet Harriers two days ago.I've never seen it in an arcade before, and then I was in the biggest dump of a pizza place called Peter Piper Pizza - a wannabe Chuck E. Cheese, and there it was, stashed in the corner, the only cabinet release this decade that they had. This game is awesome. It's like our old time friend Space Harrier, only very much improved. Better control, better lock-on missiles, it's in a duel cabinet so there's cooperative play, there's even a first person view. This game is a wonderful blend of two great classics, Space Harrier (obviously) and After Burner II. What sets it aside from standard arcade games is the fact that it also has a money system, which is more an element more common in home console. Throughout the game players collect gold by killing enemies or busting open objects. At the end of each stage, items and upgrades can be purchased from a store. The better you do in the game, the better your weapon will be in the next level. It absolutely encourages the player to dominate the level and kill everything, rather than merely surviving it. Everything about this game made me happy, except for the fact that I can't buy a copy for it for any platform because the Dreamcast version never materialized, which is a shame too. Like SegaSonic the Hedgehog Arcade, Planet Harriers may be doomed to be one of those fun classics that will never reach a mass market. But, I can always hope that it sees a release on a compilation disc somewhere down the road, or as a download on the Xbox 360. Hey, I can hope, right? Just for fun, here are some pics:
  18. Meh. I have a friend who is the same way. I was showing him some Odyssey (1972) games, Microvision, Vectrex, and Channel F games, and he was like, "I just wanna play Madden on the 360." AS IF I would ever allow a Madden game to be played on my Xbox. Humph.
  19. I voted for both, especially since Genesis and SNES came after the TG-16.
  20. The "best" VGA box for Dreamcast is either the SEGA model or the Interact model, because both have a pass-through feature, meaning you can have both your Dreamcast and PC Monitor hooked up at the same time.
  21. I think that Perfect Dark Zero was the most expensive flop in history. How much did Microsoft pay for Rare again? I rest my case.
  22. So is the original Sega CD unit. no, that one's in there, next to the old genesis. but if the sega cd's both get a mention, the powerbase converter probably should too. I stand corrected. By the lack of Vectrex, Master System (original), and Dreamcast are big oversights.
  23. IGN are retarded as usual, many of the games on that list are not, if not all of them, were not developed by EA at all, just ones that they published. Therefore, EA does not hold the rights to make sequels. Idiots! Further, that list does not include "Mutant League" anything, so it's bullshit to begin with.
  24. It also really bothered me how Chapter 2 was completely skipped over. Chapter 3 beings with some chick thanking you for your help, and I am like, "WTF, mate?"
