  1. Hello again!

I just played Studio II in friends house. And i don't understand, why so many people hate this machine. Maybe it's somewhat ridicolous, buy i like SII and think it's great for homebrewers. Are there some fansites or forums about it? Or some homebrews?

What do you think about it?

I think it's the worst console ever made.

  2. I had a friend with a Bally Arcade back in the 80's. He had it as a demo. I remember it being pretty fun. What I want to know, is it worth $100-$125 for one with some carts included?

If it works, I would say yes, definitely... especially if it has some quality games. Picking up an Astrocade was one of the best collecting purchases I've ever made.

  3. Jaguar CD. I remember seeing these in clearance bins for $25 to $50. Can't touch them at that price these days.

Also, back in the day when I worked for Gamestop, a guy came in who wanted to trade two Nomads. We couldn't get them to work, so my supervisor wouldn't let me take them in. I told him that I would buy them from the store at the regular price working or not, and he still wouldn't let me take them. I am pretty sure they could've been fixed. I've never seen one in the wild since, and that 11 or 12 years ago.

  4. All copies have been shipped USPS priority mail and should be arriving to everyone by this time next week. To those of you out of the US, it will arrive to your country by this time next week, but then I can't say how long it might take for your local mail carrier to deliver them.

I hope you guys like them.

In the first shipment no one ever said if they got the free prize. So if you do, please say so here.

  5. Also, there are some differences between shipment 1 and shipment 2.

-Some people in shipment 2 will receive a blue 60 second sand timer as opposed to the charcoal 30 second sand timer

-Some people in shipment 2 will have score pads with a slightly higher page count

-I was unable to find a printer to laser print on the vellum this time, so all but two people in shipment 2 have overlays that used an ink-jet printer

  6. I wanted to note that, as with the last shipment, one person (I don't know who) received a free gift; a non-working prototype from when I was first designing the Game Card.

Sorry it took me four months since I received the last payment to make the shipment. I understand that some of you had been waiting since April.

On the bright side, I finally have a solid, and surprising, diagnosis for my health issue, and I'm going to be fine. :)

  7. No, I haven't been too well. I don't want to discuss my health concerns here, but I haven't been updating my own site, checking my email, or using Facebook that much. The first order was much larger and went off without a hitch. Obviously there's a problem, and I apologize. But I have had more pressing concerns than Odball. I am going to ship next weekend.

  8. I'd love to talk to someone who HAS a RDI Halcyon, see pictures of it in action or some videos. No one seems to actually have one, just the little bits of info here and there on the net.

What do you want to know?

Here's a review and some pics of mine I put together a while back:

    VGCL - RDI Halcyon

By the way, though the site appears to be incomplete, this is a great example of a proper list of consoles. I love this site.

  9. "Hold right to win" works for large portions of Sonic Rush levels, especially the first few. You can't do that for the whole game, but it gets you pretty far. There's also more "automatic gameplay" in rush than what I'd like to see. Sonic Rush Adventure was really guilty.

So, my opinion is basically dismissed without as much as a single lick of proof to the contrary?

I mean, if you want I can make a YouTube video. I've played through the game as well.

  10. TolstoyKafkaEvsky's Atari Jaguar review.

    This?

I think he confused a Saturn with a 32X, he sucks at Tempest, thinks Wolfenstien 3D was released for Genesis, and doesn't understand the difference between a cartridge and a CD. This kid is annoying. I want to punch him in the balls. This kid is completely uninformed and flat out wrong at multiple points and keeps repeating misinformation over and over... I can go on and on while I'm watching this. This shit gets 100,000+ hits? Unbelievable. Jaguar is one of my top five least favorite consoles, and I can't even stand this.

  11. I decided to spruce up the site a little. Check it out here.

    What do you think?

a fancy all singing all dancing website doesn't neccessarily equal good service

I think their site is laid out that way as an informational and reference point only, it wasn't designed to sell or market best electronics (remembering that their good/excellent reputation was built up before they put themselves on the web)

Seriously, though, the site is horrible because it's hard to find anything. Like, I know you can buy a Jaguar CD unit on that site, and it took me forever to find it. The page to place an order isn't even in an obvious location. The webpage needs to be functional.

  12. Hi

I've just joined up as I've come into possession of some old systems that someone may be interested in.

I have a boxed Grandstand Fairchild Channel F, complete with instructions controllers and a stack of games

    The game carts are numbers 1 2 3 4 8 10 11 12 13 16 (x2) 17 18 20 & 21

Also a Boxed Atari CX-2600, with 2 joysticks and 2 paddles and games, Games are Space invaders, Street Racer Video Olympics, Tennis, a combat cart with a few games on, firefighter & basic Programming for Keyboard controls.

Theres also a Prinztronic tournament II deluxe, also boxed

all are in working order, and as I have no real need for them I thought I'd see if any of you guys were interested.

I can provide photos if required

I need cart 20 for Channel F. I need it bad. Let's make a deal.

  13. It’s more closely related to the Sonic Rush series than anything else. Ever wondered what Sonic Rush would look like on an HDTV? Try out Sonic 4. It’s doesn’t have as much “automatic” gameplay (i.e. hold right to win) as recent Rush releases, but it’s both there and noticeable nonetheless.

Before any assumptions start, I understand full well that Sonic Rush's physics are different from the Genesis games. That said, Sonic Rush doesn't have that so called automatic gameplay since holding right will get you bumping into an enemy or falling down a pit. It has more obstacles than the Sonic Advance games as well. The speed is faster and it has boost, but since you have to actively pay attention to the boost and the surroundings, I don't see how "hold right to win" even applies.

"Hold right to win" works for large portions of Sonic Rush levels, especially the first few. You can't do that for the whole game, but it gets you pretty far. There's also more "automatic gameplay" in rush than what I'd like to see. Sonic Rush Adventure was really guilty.

  14. Well, the real problem here is that it's surprisingly difficult to decide what counts as a game system and what doesn't. It seems very straight forward at first, but when you actually look into it, there are a lot of systems that fall into a grey zone where some people would consider them a valid game system and others would not.

Like, most people would consider the Odyssey a game system, but the cartridges aren't "real" cartridges in the traditional sense, so it's effectively just another pong console.

The GP32 had commercial game releases, but at it's heart, it's an open-source ARM-based handheld that relies on the homebrew scene.

Was the RDI Halcyon really released? The jury is still out, but there are definitely people out there who own one, so does it count?

Do add-ons like the 32X and SegaCD count? Well, then what about the N64 expansion pak? It's an add-on that some games require... For that matter, what about SNES games with SuperFX chips, or Virtua Racing on the Genesis... they've got extra hardware that's not native to the game system, so how is it any different?

All kinds of weird hardware is out there... like the LaserActive, Hi-Saturn, 3DO Blaster, Divers 2000 Dreamcast, CPS Changer, and Super Gameboy. Do any of these count as separate systems in their own right?

There are tons of computers that use cartridges. Systems like the VIC-20, C64, Atari 800, and TI-99/4a can be effectively used as consoles... but without a disk drive, you'll miss out on some of the best games for those systems... so then it's a computer, right? But what about a Famicom Disk System? That's still a console, isn't it? Meanwhile, there are tons of computers that can auto-boot games from a disk, so basically you have a game system that uses floppy disk instead of cartridges, and there are a ton of Astrocade games that load from cassette tape. So where do you draw the line? Systems like the Atari XEGS, Commodore 64GS, Amstrad GX4000, and Commodore CDTV & CD32 really cause trouble here.

So you see, it's impossible to make a list that would appeal to everyone. There will always be some jerk like me who will come in and piss on it all by pointing out the inconsistencies :P

    --Zero

    • Odyssey counts
    • GP32 counts as a handheld
    • Halcyon counts because it, and its two games, are in circulation, and I believe it did have a limited release
    • 32X, Sega CD, and Jaguar CD are consoles
    • LaserActive is a console all on its own
    • I wouldn't count multiple version of the same console as being separate
    • Computers don't count
    • XEGS, CD32, et cetera are consoles

And I've seen plenty of good lists before. A "good" list separates pongs from consoles, and consoles from portables, and groups all of the various version of the same console altogether.

  15. So... when can I order?

Send me an email to [email protected] and I'll add you to the waiting list. I did send emails to over half the people on the waiting list last week, although not everyone responded that they wanted a cart. :ponder: Next week I'll be able to offer more up for sale.

    ..Al

Okay, I did that a few weeks ago, I guess I just wasn't on the first round. I'll wait my turn on the list. :)

    Can I prepay?
