  1. Had some personal issues with my car today and didn't have time to post this earlier. Today my eyes opened with The Tide Is High in my head by Blondie. Little did I know I was going to face a personal tide. Anyway, we'll see what tomorrow brings. Phil EDIT: 11/19/15 - Decided to add links to the songs so people can listen to what's in my head. Just watched part of this video and noticed Darth Vader looking at Blondie. How funny.
  2. Actually you may be right. I forgot all about these since I don't own any. Can anyone confirm that NZ labels were put on upside down? http://www.atarimania.com/pgelstsoft.awp?system=2&type=G&publisher=2559&step=25 Rom is missing some of these scans so it would be nice if the winner could scan them and send them to him.
  3. Well I knew her a long time and her brother was actually the postmaster here at one time. I guess he thought it was ok, but I talked with my friend in charge of the carriers and he had a talk with him about not doing it again.
  4. I just like to keep track of packages. I've told the mailman to leave the orange notice if I'm not home. He's been pretty good with that for the past few months. He did leave one package with a neighbor a few months ago which I didn't care for him to do.
  5. What a surprise, another Australian seller with possible fake crap.
  6. I'm replying prior to reading all the posts after seeing DZ's reply. I haven't written a program in over 20 years in any language. I don't really have the time anymore, just like I don't write songs anymore. Ever since being with my wife back in 2001, my "alone" time for creation isn't there for much of anything short of my website, which keeps getting put on hold for one thing or another. Anyway, my point is that it's tough to encourage programmers because any criticism given is taken negatively to the point where you become a bully. This day and age of political correctness has ruined criticism. In the old days, a critic of movies, restaurants, books, etc would rip into bad quality and it was usually accepted because the "critic" was a professional at what they did. There are many people on here that I would qualify as "professional" game makers that have put out quality products and have the right to critique homebrews coming out. In fact, it would probably be a good idea to have a "panel" of these experts do critiques and give letter grades to new games that come out. Maybe have a vote of 5-8 users like an election to be on the panel, so anyone can't just say they are the expert, but is chosen by the community. Then when giving honest opinions, and even suggestions to the homebrew creator, there won't be a huff saying, "they're picking on me" and some serious quality games could be released and higher prices justified. I can't say how many people have critiqued my songs over the years. When I was 10, my friends made fun of me because I played church songs. At 18, I was getting paid $15 for one mass while minimum wage was $3.35/hour. I spent maybe 5 hours earning $45 and enjoying what I was doing because of my love for music while my friends were flipping burgers or working in retail clothing stores. I personally don't buy many homebrews anymore. In the very beginning I remember purchasing Edtris and Sound X. Over the years I purchased others that I thought were cool, related to movies that were in the proto stage, or other Atari games that AA released with limited boxed editions while they were still allowed to. I don't have the money to shell out so it has to be something I really want. I don't even test new demos. I'd rather work towards acquiring games I'm still missing from my collection than buy something new. When reading all the posts prior to DZ, the thought crossed my mind about Ebay sellers. How everyone who sells on Ebay thinks they have the ability to do so. Ebay guides you through a listing now because they want money from many people. But I see people sell many items, not just video games, and act like they know what they are doing. Selling used to be an art. Quality photos, good descriptions, correct spelling even. But now you see a fuzzy picture with no description or a one liner that doesn't give much of anything. Someone gets some things from an aunt who passes away, or buys a house with junk in the basement or garage and *BOOM* they're now an Ebay seller. So if you don't like a homebrew game, I still say give your opinion. Tell the creator you wouldn't buy it, but don't just say it's shit. Give good, definitive reasons why the game is not up to your liking. Or, if everyone likes my idea, create the panel. Phil
  7. Being a musician, I'm not surprised there are songs that are always in my head. Sometimes I sing one song over and over and annoy my wife.
  8. Today I woke up to this song. I had to do a search with google and listen on Youtube to see who sang it. The song was Because I Love You by Stevie B. I've always been big on love songs, and I wouldn't doubt the majority of songs that come into my head would be ballads. I Invite everyone if you never have heard of the songs I list to give them a listen. That is why I put the artist's name. As Nathan pointed out in my 1st entry, there are many versions of the title Heart and Soul. As a teacher, one method of trying to get the students to remember things is by music. Though math isn't as easy to do as possibly other languages. I can honestly say that at 45 years of age, I know completely, partially, or just even part of a tune 10's of thousands of songs. Again, being a musician helps since I've played many songs besides writing my own. If you grew up in the 1970s, you'll probably remember School House Rock. They still have dvds of them in stores I believe as I bought them like 15-20 years ago. It was a great method of getting the kids to remember rules for language arts, learn about science and history, and there were even some math ones, though I don't remember seeing those on tv. The first year I started teaching, which is now 10 years ago, I was in a Basic Skills classroom and these same videos were available for the students to watch and try to learn and remember. Phil EDIT: 11/19/15 - Decided to add links to the songs so people can listen to what's in my head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyWtETc11hc
  9. Looks like Happiest jumped on top of this.
  10. The sad part is back in the day, you saw the name of the bidder, and could contact them and tell them the truth. Who made up these fake boxed sets? This was definitely done recently due to the fact that the energy drinks haven't existed too long.
  11. I've been meaning to create a blog for the past couple of weeks about this. I'm a dreamer. No, not that type of dreamer who sits around and thinks what can be or what I can be doing. I have dreams pretty much each night I sleep. My dreams are in color too, as I've remembered specific colors over the years. But anyway, this blog isn't about the dreams, but every time I wake up for the day, there is some song spinning in my head. I have no idea why songs are in my head. Sometimes if I wake up during my sleep time, and then go back to sleep, there will have been 2 songs. The first time I woke up,and then when I got up. Sometimes the songs are ones I had been singing or heard that day. Other times I may not have heard or thought about it for days, months, or even years. In the past couple of weeks, 2 songs stick in my head that I can remember waking up to. One is Dream On by Aerosmith, which almost seems ironic. The other is Someone Like You by Adele. This morning I woke up to Heart and Soul by Huey Lewis. I can say this was a suggestion put in my head as I heard the song yesterday on the radio while sitting in the car. I'll post the next time I wake up to a song. Feel free to comment or even tell the world if this happens to you. Phil EDIT: 11/19/15 - Decided to add links to the songs so people can listen to what's in my head.
  12. Maybe he's a politician and knows how to spin a web of lies.
  13. Yes, Derek is making a weekly video on the games. Cool that you posted his link.
  14. I'm still waiting. I pm'd Neo but he didn't get back to me. My mailman sometimes leaves stuff outside. I'm hoping it didn't get here yet and vanished.
  15. Happiest Seller strikes again. I didn't notice they're in Elmwood Park. Less than 30 minutes from my house.
  16. How come all the shady shit keeps happening in Australia?
  17. Well I reported the item as keyword spamming as they're not selling anything other than Mangia.
  18. I'd go with the screen test though. His label looks like the colors a little faded, especially the red. Phil
  19. Yeah, reading Al's received emails, this person has one big problem spelling and putting sentences together. I agree with Atari181, when has opinions from people become defamation? No one here has called her a stupid F**K or C**T like she was throwing those words around like a truck driver. Maybe she drives a truck instead of being a nurse. I think the biggest insult was being called Natalie, which if I recall correctly Natalie had her 2nd personality blow up and start cursing like crazy after her listings were being attacked too. Isn't this a free site? Meaning people can speak their minds unless they are actually cursing or bullying or being racist/sexist/anti-religion? I read all the pages so far and besides the poopyhead comment, I think everyone has been honest and helpful. It's been a couple more days and there are 3 more pages of postings in this thread. The fun continues. Phil
  20. Well, I reported it. Hopefully others will follow.
  21. Scammers and no knowledge. That is what Ebay is becoming. It's the hope that they get some idiot to pay an outrageous price for something that they can get away with it. I don't buy individual games anymore unless they are reasonable. Phil
  22. Last I checked this was on page 2. Took a day off and see how this explodes. It's turning into Natalie all over again. Now it's Rosa. And what language from "women". Sad part is this person questioning the "experts". Many of us ARE experts because we have extremely large collections and have been doing this many years. How many games must pass through hands or years of collecting to be considered an expert? Personally I think I've had no less than 5000 games pass through my hands, I say maybe 2000 boxes in general. Collecting for 20 years now. Oh, that's Atari 2600 only, not anything else. My guess is there are at least 100 of us here that can take the title of expert, due to just the amount of time spent on the hobby. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't buy anything expensive anymore. Everyone thinks they are an expert on vintage games. Most people have no idea what they are doing. I went to a flea market for the first time in a couple of months. One I have never been to. I was extremely surprised to see the permanent indoor vendors with Atari games. A few actually, think maybe 4. All games were priced $3 with one and $5 with another, the others no prices. Didn't matter what title or condition. I saw nothing probably more than an R3, if that. "Everyone thinks they are an expert". I didn't bother questioning or correcting, though I felt like asking them if they bought and how much they pay. If I go back, I may just do that. Phil
  23. Look at the feedback. Someone says it's a hacked account.
