I said from the beginning this was probably fake. I still stand by my take on not buying anything super rare on Ebay, but only from a reputable collector from AA. Phil

Can you make extras of the premiums and charge the difference?

There are 2 threads already going on this in marketplace. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/245299-boxed-air-raid-sells-for-500/ http://atariage.com/forums/topic/245300-air-raid-boxed-atari-2600-sells-for-500/

The listing doesn't show the cart at all, that's why the question at the bottom asked if it is a T blue handle.

Funny / Stupid / Crazy / Lame Auction Listings
Philflound replied to nofrills100's topic in Auction Central
Hah, I keep turning it down. It comes up all the time on my computer. It probably controls our computers. I don't want their free product either. I would not doubt it sends every single thing you do to them. Big Brother is watching. I never pay for any Windows directly. It always is installed on the newest computer I get and I never upgrade it from that version. -
Let me rephrase that. I don't trust EBAY international customers anymore. I would ship to many AA members that I know are reputable.

It's probably not real. People usually do research as to what something is worth prior to posting. I can't see this person being so naive. I now see Air Raid repro boxes being sold on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-2600-7800-Air-Raid-box-only-W-W-/281843768336?hash=item419f329c10:g:O6MAAOSw14xWIbGZ Oh, and if you talk about the price sticker on it, Digital Press puts stickers directly on the boxes. Sad, but it usually ruins the box. You'd think a major person in the video game field would know better.

Funny / Stupid / Crazy / Lame Auction Listings
Philflound replied to nofrills100's topic in Auction Central
Just more nonsense on Ebay. Everybody and their grandmother thinks they are experts on selling video games. It's really sad. But there are idiots everywhere. I've gotten so frustrated with dealing with people in general, whether online or in person. Had an argument with an owner of a video game store. He had a decent amount of boxed Intellivision and Atari (various systems), maybe like 40-50 games. He said he would give me a great deal because there was no interest. Nothing priced (what a wonder). I pulled 3 C64 games and a small stack (5-6) Intellivision games. He pulled the C64 Donkey Kong off the stack, logged on to his computer, said going rate was $25 and would sell me for $20. 20% off. Doesn't sound like a great deal. When I reviewed him on his FB and gave him a 1*, he lied and said he told me it was going for $30 and would sell to me for $15. Still wasn't a great deal anyway. He also posted how he liked having the old stuff on display because it looked cool. Thing was, you couldn't see the games because he had this large counter top rotating display blocking the games. In fact, I had to ask his worker what were the games hidden I couldn't see. He was just a jackass. I think he said I was the first person in a year who asked him about those games. Today I went to one of those fake 99 cent stores. I say fake, because 90% of the items cost more than 99 cents. Anyway, my wife picked up a rug that you'd put in the hallway to wipe your feet. No price (what a wonder again). Asked the guy stocking the shelves how much it was. He told her 99 cents. Got to the counter. They typed 2.99 in the register. We said the guy told us 99 cents. They didn't believe us. Then they started asking someone else who worked in the store and he said 1.99. I said keep it. She had a plastic tablecloth with Thanksgiving designs. Pulled it off the large pegboard with a giant 99 cents sign on it. Girl typed 1.09 into the register. Said all tablecloths were 1.09. So they got to put back the rug and the tablecloth. Went to Nathans yesterday. My wife wanted to use a coupon to get a $3.49 cheese steak. Was told she had to buy fries and a drink to use the coupon. Coupon doesn't say that. I didn't look at the combo price for the steak sandwich, but my guess was that paying $3.49 and adding fries and drink may have actually cost more than just buying the combo. Guess who didn't eat Nathans yesterday? Many times it's not about the price, it's about the principal. Though my being unemployed for several months now, the price really does matter. So don't judge me yet. EDIT: after reading about the whole principal thing brought back a memory of like 20+ years ago. It was when the Wiz was still in business. I remember them having a sale that said $1 off per cd. So my friend was going to get a 2 cd set. Girl told him it was $1 off, he argued for $2 since it was 2 cds and was pretty much twice the price. She said $1 off per package. That's not what the sign said. Think she wouldn't budge so he didn't buy it. Phil -
I've come to the realization that I will never own the truly rare of rare games now in this day and age. With the ease of printing labels and burning your own carts, I wouldn't trust anything put out there. If some chance I can ever find stuff in the wild, that would be my only hope of finding anything, or I get it from a very, very reputable collector. Phil

I have all my items fixed price and immediate payment required. Yesterday I sold a Darth Vader stocking to someone in Canada. I received a message today that said: I bought an item from you and it says shipped and I noticed that you take PayPal I don't have an account with PayPal and I wanted to make sure that your getting paid for the stuff I purchased Funny thing is that they had to use paypal to purchase the item, so I'm not sure why she's saying she doesn't have a paypal account. Yes this is a newbie Ebay person. It seems that you'd think everyone has been using Ebay all these years, but I get new customers all the time. I shipped this item immediately. I'm waiting to see if there is going to be a problem. Canada is the only country I ship to outside the global shipping program because I can ship 1st class and track the package. All others require priority to track. The customs number I was told doesn't track, or I think unless the mail carriers actually scan it. Between getting burnt on a few transactions over the years internationally and my Paypal receipt of over $20k a few years ago forcing me to do tons of paperwork for taxes, made my decision of not selling internationally. I think that year I had about $6500 in shipping costs, and my total profit after fees, shipping, cost of goods, supplies, etc. was like $5000. It was a waste of much time. I don't trust international customers anymore.

Do you happen to have a tracking number if you shipped mine? I won't let my mail carrier leave any packages at my door and I like to know when it's coming. Thanks. Phil

Not counting Sears or HES Salu Activision remakes, I have no clue. My guess is a minimum of 450 as I think I have close to 630 carts now.
-
Most likely for the Intellivision it was because of the overlays. Keeping the box helped not losing them. Plus the boxes were thinner.
-
This is why I don't like buying stuff any more. People are making their own labels all the time and some are passing it off as vintage. Actually, people are making their own carts and playing ignorant...happiestseller

Seems strange that it says auction in the listing but I see no bids. I see no buyer either.

Great news!

The Culling of the Weak. Selling of a large lot of stuff
Philflound replied to labels's topic in Auction Central
Thing is, you can't change shipping during a listing. If you add more items and the shipping costs more, then you have to eat the difference. I especially bid on a listing with a certain price in mind which includes the shipping. If you decide to add more money afterwards, I wouldn't pay either. Now based on that fact, I would be hesitant to buy from you, though my wife would kill me if I ordered a big lot like that. Though you've helped me out with my site in the past, so you have points going for you. If not for that fact, I would probably not deal with you on Ebay based on this listing. Nothing personal, but this is an example of one of the stories where sellers are ripped into. If you had originally put a high shipping price and written what you did about refunding shipping, then I feel that is more legit and then would consider buying a listing, though I still think your shipping is high and I probably wouldn't risk spending that much. But at least you are up front about the money. The other thing you may see is your listing won't go as high as the first time and if you add the sale price and shipping, my guess is you would have probably gotten more the first time in total. I can't see this breaking $200, but sometimes I'm wrong. Phil -
Which was the first Atari game to have a title screen?
Philflound replied to helderuto's topic in Atari 2600
I still say it's Asteroids 1981. Not sure why some of you are ignoring this. -
The Culling of the Weak. Selling of a large lot of stuff
Philflound replied to labels's topic in Auction Central
Why? I see you went from $50 shipping to over $120. -
The thing is that you enjoyed them. If you get any money out of them, consider it a bonus. I just feel bad for the people who either had mom throw things away, give them away, or items get destroyed in fire or flooded basements. Phil

Philflound replied to helderuto's topic in Atari 2600
I would go with Asteroids. Someone would need to investigate if the initial releases had the screen or the later ones. All the boxes that I've discovered were printed in 1981, some in May, and some as late as September and October, but definitely before 1982 Star Raiders. -
I've got Star Raiders... in unopened cases.
Philflound replied to DeAthWaGer's topic in AtariBoxed.com Rarity Database
My assumption is that the company knew there was a problem with the games and that is why they were dumped for so cheap. Quality control probably felt there was no reason to undo everything for just a comic, as long as the game was in working order and could be played. Funny thing is there are many collectors who don't deal with sealed product because you don't know what you are getting inside, or in this case, not getting inside. You assume by purchasing a sealed product, that the company has packaged the correct items inside. This not only goes for video games, but anything. Phil -
Was hoping someone would send me a pm with like 500 manuals. Phil

Always about supply and demand. Supply jumped up for those two titles with Venezuela. I wouldn't be surprised if other titles turn up in massive quantity as years go by. Warehouse finds are common. I remember several years ago Wacky Packs had several cases of one or two of the series show up. Boxes went down a bit, but eventually the supply got absorbed into the market. When supply gets absorbed, you may see prices go back up. Until then, many years will have to go by. I still sell many of my O Shea sealed titles for like $6 or $7. Just no real demand for RS BB, RS FB, Venture (Atari)... plus many 7800 titles. I like how the topic shifted to NES Tetris. Phil

Philflound replied to DeAthWaGer's topic in AtariBoxed.com Rarity Database
If you have the 1986 version, they would not have comics. From your photo, you should have comics since it's advertised on the box. They would be in the smaller box with the cartridge and instruction manual. Is it glue sealed? Can you post a photo of the front and back of the smaller box inside? It's possible if these are glue sealed with the hang tag glued and missing the comic that these were mistake boxes and when Atari found out dumped them at Odd Job, Odd Lot, Job Lot or wherever it was they were dumped. Phil You can see the 1986 box here on my site at the end. http://www.videogamevariations.com/AtariCompanies/AtariGames/StarRaiders/star_raiders_boxes.htm
