Well, we boil down to one thing. These were made to be played, not kept in mint condition. The company cares that a game is bought and played by its owner, then by his friends, then his friends go out and buy the game, and it's played some more. Then when it's liked so much, the next of its kind comes out and is bought by the owner, then played by the owner, then by his friends, then his friends go out and buy the game........ Every collectible is like this. Toys were made to be opened, so you get yellowing bubbles on the action figures. Comic book paper turns brown over the years, maybe it's miscut on the cover or pages, small tears, whatever. They were made to be read. Every collectible is like this, at least back in the day it was made and was conceived to be used, not stored. As for Activision carts. Once in awhile I find some that have very little actiplaque. Of course, those hit my collection right away. I think it's exposure to the air more than the light. Light might fade it, but I think it has to do with temperature and humidity for the glue. If the temperature gets too hot, the glue will start to dry up, probably making the glue directly on the label to "see-through". Parker Bros. Ok, their labels absolutely suck. I don't know how many "mystery" games I've gotten in collections. Oh, well. 'nuff said. Phil

I've actually acquired brand new mint Colecovision unused stickers, but not as sheets, individually. Phil

Definitely Warlords and Decathlon. Or even Summer Games and Winter Games. The whole thrill of competition is great. Phil

If you were breastfed, I feel bad for your mom. She probably had sore nipples. Phil

I have some 5200 protos that I bought a few years ago, but only paid like $50 each for. As for the 2600 I'm listing them here. Some I got on Ebay, but I picked up 7 from Jerry Greiner for $150 each about 4 years ago. The A-team Bugs Bunny Donald Duck Speedboat Dukes of Hazzard Frog Pond Holey Moley Monstercise Off Your Rocker Peek-A-Boo Quadrun Saboteur Xevious PS: None of these are for sale. Phil

Well, if you can, get a punching bag so when you get really pissed, you just punch the bag. Since I would play my Atari on the bed, I would punch my pillow. As for the chewed joysticks. Is it the dog or the gamer? Maybe it was the baby teething. Great way to shut it up. I've been pissed at many a game. Now I'm getting pissed at my fiancee. She just nags and nags, and ignores when I tell her something, then five minutes later asks the same stupid question I just answered. Where is that punching bag? Phil

Well, if you post naturally and actually contribute to a message thread, then you will naturally increase. I think anyone who has a ton of posts in less than a year has a lot of time on their hands. Phil

I had an original 6-switch. In fact I have a brand new mint one in the box (not my original), plus I have a few other types including a Jr. I think the Jr. is less likely to have problems, and is a lot more compact since it takes alot more room for the Vader or 6-switch. So my vote for playing is the Jr, for display and nostalgia, it's the 6-switch. Phil

You do, it's AFTER 100, which is of course 101. Congrats on your new title. Phil

I think he did great for the price. Though I didn't need any of those games. I wouldn't have paid it. Congrats! Phil

Anytime you come across something that you don't see listed, scan it if you can and send it to Albert. He's going to be doing a foreign release section, or at least adding international games to the guide. Phil

These people use the word "prototype" frequently, though they do not know what they are doing. I actually have this white label version and mine is mint. I don't think it's that rare though. I've come across is several times over the years. Phil

About 3 years ago, I just happened to find a brand new C64 boxed, 1641 disk drive boxed, Okidata printer boxed, and a loose tape drive, along with a couple dozen diskettes. All this for the low low price of $20.00. I still have most of my original disks from my teen years, and also have some of my friend's. In fact, when I first opened up my now defunct store in 1993, we actually hooked the commie up and played when we had downtime. Still to this day, my two favorite games for the system was Adventure Construction Set by EA and Impossible Mission by Epyx. I can't tell you how many times I finished IM. The only thing that was always a problem was load time. Thank you Fast Load cart. Also, you needed to keep a fan on the power supply to keep it from burning out. Those ran $60 a piece back in the day, and now I don't think you can even get one. Phil

Well, I remember the Commie Monitor, a different model though, and it was the best thing we ever had. In fact, the colors were so vibrant that we used to hook up our tv to it and watch it on the monitor instead. Commodore 64 was the best computer ever. No crappy drivers, and video cards, and sound cards, and memory, etc etc. No hassles, no errors. Everything was simple. HOORAY FOR THE COMMIE! Phil

Well, he must be happy. Though I think maybe this is common in Japan. Don't know anyone who is over there. Though I do know that one or two of the big collectors have gone there. Can't remember who it was. Think it was Joe something affiliated with DP Guide. Maybe he could shed some light on the subject. Phil

I just put up some nice brand new sealed games for the Bally Astrocade, Colecovision, and Intellivision. Don't pass these up. I've had up some rarer loose Atari 2600 carts, and a few boxed games too. So check out my auctions. I'm always up for getting some new stuff in. Ebay ID: GPDCOMICS Also, if you have any want lists for the 2600, I have to have at least 250 different games available at this time. Just don't have the spare time to make a list. Thanks for the interest. Phil

You people are nuts. Phil

If I remember correctly, that is the way the Atari 32 in 1 cart works too. Yeah, a little lame having to turn it off, but it was probably too much of a hassle to throw in dip switches. Phil

Garage sales today didn't yield too much. I found a loose licensed NES Pac-Man for $1.00. Also got 2 SMS games, Wonderboy III complete with box and Montezuma's Revenge with only box, no instructions both for $5.00. I also picked up a slide projector for $2.00 and a Chug A Lug Beer Drinking game from 1981 for $1.00. Phil

It's not hard to acquire tons of games. Like I posted in a Funcoland thread about NES games, I've amassed almost 400 games for the NES and not one have I paid over $5.00 for. You get them through garage sales, but the Funcolands by me have many of the games for $2.99 and under. Just buy 10 games at a time averaging $2.50 and there you have $25.00. 20 games for the NES = 1 X-Box game. The best time to buy a system is when it is obsolete or going out. Now is the perfect time to pick up Game Gear or Dreamcast. A few TRUs around here were dumping Game Gear games for 99 cents brand new. My buddy didn't grab all of them, but he got me 3. I scolded him. I could have had tons of games brand new, even if it was 20 or 30 of the same game for just a buck. Oh, well. I've been collecting video games since 1995. Early on all of my games were acquired through garage sales/flea markets, or by people coming into my store (now closed) and selling them or trading them to me. This was before the big internet boom. Then I went to newsgroups and started buying in auctions. This was before the Ebay boom. Now of course there is ebay, but for the majority of my stuff, I got prior to ebay. Phil

Well, my guess is that it's Ryan. It's funny that the same seller has 2 different email addresses on 2 different items he is selling. What I'd like to know is how the hell does he keep hacking these pw's? If anyone has a nice bogus ebay account, now would be a good time to buy all of the auctions and not pay. Wish I did. I'm looking into trying to find someone with one. Though unethical, I'd rather be unethical than have this person scam more money out of unsuspecting bidders. Ebay sucks. Phil
-
I do have to agree with you there. If someone wants something and is desperate enough or has the money, they will pay. My buddy got a sealed Mego Joker Van from the 1970s. It guides for like $650. He put it on Ebay and got over $1600 for it. Go figure! Phil

Funny, 1 console + 1 game, but 4 games in the auction.
Philflound replied to MattyXB's topic in Auction Central
Been meaning to ask this, but how much is 1 Euro compared to the US Dollar? Phil -
I would contact Ebay about this. Isn't this the second time a German auction was exactly the same? Remember one a couple of weeks back on a torn label cartridge. What games are those that don't look like regular Atari games? Like the bottom left and the 4 on the top right. Phil

Though it's nice to give carts away, I still believe in business. I usually try and recoup some if not all of my money when buying a collection. I keep what I need, then sell the rest, so I can buy more of what I need to sell and then buy more..... You get the picture. I must have amassed at least 2000 extras just in 2600 games alone. 200 of these are Combat and Pac-man, but they still take up space and did cost me money, if it was only cents. Phil
