The post office sucks too. I filed a complaint online when he was Bug90 and I didn't hear anything from them. I wonder if he ever tried to cash my check, since I put a stop payment on it awhile back. I should ask my bank. Phil

I actually have both of these games, so I'll stay out and let someone else reap the rewards of adding to their collections. Garage sales galore tomorrow. Just spent a 1/2 hour in the classifieds writing down addresses and now I have to plan my route. Phil

Actually what just occured to me is that he may have hacked a ton of pw's prior to doing everything he is. So that when one is found out, he just waits a little while and uses the other, then the other, etc. Every id he's used so far has the 2 digits at the end of the name. Phil

Found a great way to clean the game slot on the Atari consol
Philflound replied to General Atarian's topic in Atari 2600
Ok, sounds great. Where do you get the card cleaner though? We aren't hotels. Phil -
I need Magicard. Anyone nice enough to send me one? Phil THIS WEBSITE RULES!!!!

Pretty impressive with all the systems. I've gotten a few of the pong type games. Those I don't run across that often, but it seems that they are less desirable. Not too many games though. I do like the variety of scarcer cartridge systems though. $2500 seems a little high, but maybe something in there is worth alot more than I know. One day I'm going to video tape and/or photograph my collection. If I'm right, I'm up to about 2200 games for over 30 classic systems. After I move back to my parents' old house in a couple of months, I'll have plenty of room. It's always good when the parents buy a new house and leave you the old one to use. I'll have a full basement, plus 3 bedrooms and more to store and display my stuff. Joe Santulli had asked me a few years ago to video tape my collection. I'll have a nice bookcase that is built into the wall to put my boxed stuff. Don't think I'll be able to fit even half my games, but at least they'll look alot nicer than they do now. Good luck Lou. Well, it's good to keep on top of things. If we see any more suspicious activity from other accounts, let it be posted here asap, contact ebay asap, and contact the bidders asap. Great job again guys. On a seperate note, I mentioned in one of the threads that my buddy had some winner of one of his auction not satisfied with his item. He then went ahead and week after week would contact the bidders in the auctions. We figured out who this person finally was. He used Ebay's email system to tell people not to bid on the auction, which of course is illegal. And Ebay never did anything. My buddy had at least 7 auctions where bid retractions occured. One of his customers is a lawyer and is sending this person a nice threatening letter stating to stop all activity or he'll have legal action against him. Sometime persistance with Ebay still doesn't work. Thumbs down to ebay. Phil

Definitely a cool game. I just put up a Stargate boxed complete on ebay under GPDCOMICS. Same game, different title. I think the Defender II title is rarer though. Phil

This isn't really true either. I got a proto of Combat II and it had a label made by Randy. Goto the 2600 section. There are several subsections. I can't remember where I found the LotR, but it was in one of those. I wrote down all the titles I wanted, then emailed Randy. He gave me back a total price to verify everything, then I paypaled him. Very easy to do. Took about 2 weeks to get the games. Phil

You responded to your own message. So what was it that you were getting? Phil

I really do wish I lived near this guy. I'd break his legs. The Mother F-er doesn't deserve his life. I hate scammers. Mad Phil

You screwed up the title on Dishaster. Might not get as many hits now. Also, since I can't read German, it doesn't help me. I have the game though. Phil

Hey I like Porky's! Don't knock it. Wish they would put all 3 movies on DVD. Phil

Why? Don't you have a regular Atari 2600 that you can use. I actually have several different models, but use a Jr to play my games. In fact I have a dead mint in box 6 switch that stays there. Collecting is fun. If you don't have another system, you should probably find one. Phil

Gemstik definitely was the way to go. Used to use it on the Commie 64 too. You couldn't play Summer Games without one. Great to set those records. Phil

If you remember the arcade game like I do, when there were too many sprites on the screen, it began to flash. I think it might have been too much of a problem to handle for the 2600 at the time so they canned it. Phil

Ok, maybe I'm wrong here, but I have this game. I ordered it from Hozer and just got it yesterday. I don't know if it has the newer updated code, but it definitely has the label that you are showing. He didn't send any box or instructions though. So if he wasn't supposed to use the title due to copyright infringement rights, guess he went through with it anyway. I haven't plugged this into my Atari yet, since I have other things to do right now, but will plan on it by the end of the week. Phil

And to mention a couple of more things. I didn't think of want ads. Yes, look for what people are selling, but if you can get a free ad once in awhile, you may want to post that you are buying these things. Or maybe spend $5-10 on an ad and hope you hit something. There is one thing a little less ethical, but is how I acquire a great number of games. Garbage night. Drive around and see if you spot a box of games, or comics, or whatever. I actually have not found games, but my buddy found a nice brand new Nintendo 64 about a year ago in the dumpster. He thinks it was someone's gf pissed off throwing out the guy's stuff. There was also a nice Mickey Mantle plaque too. But most of my acquisitions are from a garbage man. This guy keeps tons of stuff and sells them at the local shows or flea markets. Since I know him, he gives me first crack at things. In fact, I got a nice bunch of Atari games boxed, the Data Age Record and most of the Atari Age mags from this guy for $80.00. This did include a boxed Revenge of the Beefsteak Tomatoes. I was happy with the buy. So, if you know a garbage man, don't be afraid to ask him, if not go out yourself. It's good to hit the town clean-up days if you know what day they do it. Phil

I just looked at the website. Talk about ripoffs. The Funcolands by me charges alot less for games. The real hard ones run about $15-25. These are the Mega Mans and the Dragon Warrios, etc. I get tons of games for $2.00 and under. I usually will walk out of the store with 10-15 games each time. At one point, the Super Mario Duck Hunt game was a whole 9 cents. I wound up buying up at least 70 of them. Their prices would fluctuate from month to month. So if you walk in the Funcoland stores yourself, you will be surprised at how low the prices are. I'm probably close to 400 games now for the Nintendo and not once have I ever paid more than $5.00 for a game. And that was boxed with instructions. Loose cart, never more than $3.00. Phil

Scott, your link does not work. Unless it's me of course. Phil

Have you ever found anything at a Salvation Army?
Philflound replied to BatmiteReturns's topic in Atari 2600
Thrift stores are tougher than most other avenues you will pursue. I went to Penn near route 80. I think it was in or near Stroudsburg. Just happened to drop in this Salvation Army. Anyway, there were several Atari 2600 carts sitting there. Nothing really rare, but they were only 50 cents each. I also bought some board games for 89 cents each. There is also a bigger Salvation Army in Paramus, NJ. This one had boxed SMS and Genesis games. I took the 4 boxed SMS games, nice condition, for $5.00 each. They were Zaxxon 3-D, Cyborg Hunter, Spellcaster, and Golvellius. I know I didn't need the Zaxxon, but the other 3 were missing from my collection. At least I think they are. If not, I do know I need the boxes since the art wasn't familiar. So, you may not find them that often, but they are there. Look at the thread of: 25 Garage Sales and I found Nothing in this message board. I gave one hell of a speech on how to acquire games. Phil -
Well smile because I ordered one and got it yesterday. Had no time to play it and won't for a few days, but be sure that even if I don't like it, it stays in my collection. I definitely like the Clint Eastwood style label art. Phil

Thanks. Actually after reading the previous replies before mine, I did forget something else. Thrift shops, pawn shops, antique stores. Though I will find some games, usually cheap at the Salvation Army, these are extremely tough. I do have a suggestion though. If you are friendly enough to the person behind the counter, give them a flyer or business card. Tell them that if they get any item on your list to give you a call before putting it out. This may work. You could even give them advice as to how to price some of the games/systems you don't collect. You may be rewarded for it. Phil

Sorry, forgot a couple of things. 13. Haggle prices. You'd be surprised at how quickly someone is willing to drop a price. The worst they can do is say no, so then if it looks good enough for their asking price, buy it. If not, walk away. I've walked away many times. In fact, if the price was way too high, like maybe $30 for an Atari with 10 games, I wouldn't even make an offer. The seller has at times asked me to make an offer. I say that I didn't want to insult their intelligence. If they insist, offer $10. If not leave it. I forgot to mention a few weeks ago. I looked in the classifieds and there was the word "Comics". So I made this the highest priority to get to. In fact, I was rushing my fiancee out the door to make sure I wasn't late. We got there. His comics were crap. But we got 2 lap top computers. Nice ones at that, for only $25 for both. Oh, forgot something else. Set a standard price for buying games. Say $1.00 each if they are complete with box, 50 cents if they are just the cartridge. Then if you know your mom's friends or someone is going out, give them a paper with the Atari or Intellivision name write on it, and tell them this is how much you are willing to spend. You may take a chance that they overpay, but if they run across a Crazy Climber in a box of games and they don't buy it because they know you collect it but don't know how much you are willing to pay, then you lose out. If you need any more advice, feel free to post here or even email me. [email protected] Phil
