Any advice on how to make the jump at the end? Do I have to make the jump myself by pressing up? I've tried it with speeds in the 50s and as high as 63. Not sure if I'm going too fast, too slow, or just not timing the jump properly; I just seem to line-drive my face into the wall.
It's just a matter of timing. Press up a little ways before Thor gets to the edge if I remember correctly.

NIAD, ed1475, and HDTV1080P, thanks for indulging my questions about Defender in this thread. As it turns out, I think I “solved” the mystery.
I’m 99% certain my cartridge is a standard Atarisoft release.
I experimented with a second ADAM computer to see how the game plays. On this unit, the left fire button would shoot the canon plus set off a smart bomb. The right button would set off a smart bomb alone. I was able to fully manipulate my ship.
Next, I played the cartridge on the ColecoVision, and the game was fully functional as you would expect without any of the aforementioned fire button/smart bomb issues.
Ultimately, it appears that my main ADAM stand alone console plays extra nice with the Defender cartridge, and permits fully functional game play like on the ColecoVision. I could still send your way a ROM copied to data pack if you’d like to take a closer look, but I think the explanation for a working game lies in the quirks of my console.
No problem. That is the first time I've heard of an original Defender working on an ADAM. There's probably some minor differences in OS roms in some ADAM's.

Thanks Ed. My version is definitely an Atarisoft release (I found the original box), it's a "ColecoVision Atarisoft" label and has two labels. I read another message where someone stated that the game loads but you can't fire; I've read that the game also doesn't work at all. Are there varying results when trying the game on the ADAM, or is it uniformly the same problem(s)?
It always the same problem. The game runs but a few of the controls don't work. Joystick "up" doesn't work. Right fire button doesn't work. Left fire button fires both smart bombs and lasers when it should only fire lasers.

I have an ADAM compatible Defender cartridge. Possibly sold by ADAM's House (eColeco).
The cart on the left was patched for ADAM by Walter's Software and maybe sold by ADAM's House (eColeco). It has one label that wraps over the top of the cart. A Coleco cart shell and the word "ADAM" replaces "Colecovision."
The cart on the right was released by Atarisoft and doesn't work right on an ADAM. It has an Atarisoft cart shell and there are two labels - one on the front and one on the top.

Nice find! I haven't been to the Ax-Man in about 25 years. I used to go there a lot in the late 1980s and early 90s.

Here's ROM dumps of my Walter's Software carts. I've got a PDF of the ADAM's Desktop manual but I'm having trouble getting it added to this post.
ADAMs_Desktop_version11_1991(ADAM)(Walters Software) .bin
Defender (ADAM)(Walters Software) .bin
SmartDSK_1989_ (ADAM) (Walters Software).bin

I voted "No." It's easy to use the search engine to find the ADAM content.

Here's an ebay auction in the Netherlands that includes a rare language card for Adam Smartwriter. It has a high starting price and is untested.

Gauntlet uses Tandy graphics and only requires 256K RAM according to Mobygames. In the link below you can click on "256K" and "Tandy/PCjr" for other games that meet those specs.

I had a 1000 SL that came with 384K memory. I also had a problem running many games that used the enhanced graphics since there was no separate, dedicated graphics RAM. I was largely limited to standard CGA titles. I know that King's Quest 4 would definitely not run.
I had King's Quest 4 for my 384K 1000 SL in 1989 and it worked fine. I still have it but my 1000 SL has been upgraded to 640K. There were 2 versions of KQ4 released. The most common used the SCI graphics engine and required 512K RAM which is the version you must have had. There was also a rarer version that used the original AGI engine (also used in KQ 1, 2, and 3) and required only 256K RAM.
