The game really gets good starting at wave 13. The boss ship becomes "intelligent." Instead of just flying across the screen, the boss ship will fly down and eat (deplete or whatever) your shields. The ship will fly to a random point on the screen, move down a little and wait, move down a little more and wait, then make a b-line for one of your shields. Its movement reminds me of a stray dog with 3 food dishes to go after. wave 3 - introduces exploding bomb waves 5,6,7,8 - bottom 2 rows of armada are invisible (a ship becomes visible if it fires at you) wave 7 - introduces slow smart bomb waves 9, 10 - entire armada is invisible (a ship becomes visible if it fires at you) waves 11-16 - armada is visible again wave 11 - introduces fast smart bomb wave 13 - introduces "intelligent" boss ship Edit: BTW The "practice" option of this game is really good. When a game is over, the practice option lets you start at the wave before the game ended only at a slightly slower pace.

Good job cparsley. You've got me beat. I really don't think I'll be able to improve on my current high score. -

There is a Cray-1 on display a few miles from where I live. It's in the lobby of Cray's new downtown St Paul, MN office. I've been wanting to go down there and take a look at it. It's a great piece of computer history.

Quest for Quintana Roo gameplay help *overlay pic added*
ed1475 replied to Yurkie's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I've been playing this the past few days and I've been able to get thru levels 1 & 2. Level 3 is a lot harder so I don't think I'll be completing it any time soon. I've been using a pencil and paper to keep track of which map combinations I've tried and the locations of important objects in the temple. The code to start at level 2 is 1830. The level 3 code is 8817. -
I am also interested.

Wow! This was the first game system I ever played. My older brother got it new for christmas in 1976. It was pretty cool at the time. Skeet shooting with the rifle was a lot of fun. I think it was sold in a garage sale in the early 1980's. I had forgotten the name of it but that is definitely it.

The one on the left is for Electronic Flashcard Maker for the ADAM. The one in the middle is for Facemaker for the Colecovision.

Does the Dragon's Lair proto works on a ADAM ? Maybe it's just about RAM I already tried it on a real CV, in fact it does not work Good question, I can try it with my ADAM this weekend if someone doesn't beat me to it. Tempest It works great on a real ADAM using the rom in the Atarimax Colecovision 128 in 1 Mulitcart.

What is your rarest intellivision item

I've got Turbo and Mountain Madness both CIB and the cart/manual for Body Slam. -
I'm not sure about Monkey Academy but the unreleased Cabbage Patch kids had flowers on the opening screen and some other extra grapchics. I think there is a 256k tape version of Evolution that should be different from the CV version. I'll need to try to find the .tap image though to check for differences. And Choplifter for the Best of Broderbund has a really nice title screen. The CV version had the standard title screen.

Here's a list of the differences I've noticed in Buck Rogers. ADAM vs CV Buck Rogers 1 Nicer title screen graphics and Hall of Fame screen 2 Animation at the end of each round showing your ship being upgraded. 3 4 more gameplay screens (Adam has 10; CV only has 6) 4 10 more types of UFO's (Adam has 13 ; CV only has 3) 5 Both versions have 1 type of missile. Adam also has a rocket to avoid. (it’s either red ,yellow, or green depending on the screen your playing) 6 CV has a fixed bonus at the end of each round. Adam has of bonus bar on each screen that counts down during gameplay. At the end of each screen, bonus points are added to your score. 7 Adam has a speed control (press and hold left fire button). Speeds range from 1 to 99 as shown at bottom of screen. The speed only increases slightly and hitting ufo's becomes more difficult. On some screens (screens 1,3 and 7), the ufo's will change directions (approaching you from the front instead of the back). CV doesn't have a speed control/indicator. CV ufo’s approach from front (screens 1 & 3) 8 The Adam enemy command ship is a little smaller, less blocky and moves more smoothly than in the CV version. It also increases/decreases in size slightly giving the impression it is getting closer/farther away. The CV enemy command ship is large, blocky, its movement is choppy and it doesn't change size. 9 The Adam enemy command ship is blue on odd numbered rounds and white on even rounds. Buck Rogers ship is the opposite (white on odd rounds, blue on even rounds). On the CV version, Buck Rogers ship is always white and the enemy command ship is always yellow. 10 Red horizontal lines on the enemy command ship screen in the CV version are not present on that screen in the Adam version. 11 Explosions of Buck Rogers ship and command ship. In the Adam version, the whole screen explodes in a red/black fireball with nice sound effect. In CV version, there is a minimal explosion graphic/sound effect. 12 In the Adam version , the bluish asteroids can't be blown up. In the CV version, they can be blown up. 13 Bonus ship every 20,000 points for Adam. One bonus ship at 10,000 points in CV version. 14 Both buttons fire in CV version. In Adam, left button for speed, right button to fire.

Some other differences: Dam Busters - has graphics on 'death' screens. CV is text only. Donkey Kong - barrels disappear when they hit the hammer. In CV version, they go thru the hammer and disappear when they hit Mario. Zaxxon - has 8 skill levels. (instead of 4) 6 asteroids (instead of 2) a continue option when game is over a save game feature game ending animation

I like Commando a lot too. My only complaint is that the ending of each mission is insanely difficult. I've only been able to get to the end of mission two. I'm guessing there might be 4 missions to the game (it doesn't say in the manual). I've got a video of it on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMe7GkvF6Vo As for Pole Position, I didn't like it at first either. Once I learned how to play it it isn't that bad. So far I've been able to get thru two of the four racetracks. You use the upper and lower side buttons for changing speeds and getting by the other cars.
-
That sounds great. I would use it. I've been wanting to get thru that game for quite a while.

The Digitpress website has a pdf of the "Easy Reference Guide" to SmartWriter along with a few other ADAM instuctions. At the main page of the website click on: Library, then Manuals, then Colecovision-Adam.

That's my video on Youtube. I used the saved game on the ddp to get to the ending. I've tried playing it and I can't get very far.
