I guess my assumption was that I would have access to the upper memory to write my programs in.

I was not sure who to address this question to Drac030 or Phaeron or where on the forum to post this question.
When I type ? fre(0) in MultiBasic I get 13089 bytes free.
I have High Memory addressing set to None (24-bit addressing).
Also I do not see a setting for the amount of 24-bit addressable memory to allocate.
Is it possible to get more free ram for MultiBasic? -
There's also Swift Spreadsheet. It's one of the lesser known ones out there. I sold it for a time about 15 years ago under agreement from the original publishers.
It was reviewed in an issue of Current Notes. Think I still have a copy lying around here somewhere.
Had a bit of a surprise a few months ago when I saw one of my 'under licence' duplicates going on eBay as part of a bundle. I was given a bunch of originals by the publisher to sell on and then made additional copies with my own labels as needed. Didn't sell many of these duplicates - probably no more than 4 or 5 exist.
I'd be interested in that if you can find a copy, just for the curiosity value.
I have a ATR file here. Do you want it or are you looking for a disk?

uH stands for micro-Henrys. Quoted from Wikipedia -"The henry (symbol: H) is the SI unit of inductance."
I have an Atari 800 opened up; if you tell me where to look, I can see if it's marked on the motherboard what type of transistor/inductor. What does uH stand for?
And Atari 400 doesn't have composite video.

Those Broderbound/Synapse text adventures? Essex?
I havn't a clue!

Have you been eating cheese before bed-time again

Nope - just been too long since playing it!
Just remember a few bits and pieces.
Early in the game it does warns you about exposing blood to something on the ship (don't remember what) as a result a creature emerges from the blood.
It's a long shot but what about Gruds in Space or snowball (level 9)

No - both those have graphics in them - this was a pure text adventure - kinda like Avalon Hill's GFS Sorceress.

I remember playing a text based space adventure a long time ago...
You were on a space ship and had to figure out who the (alien?) was.
At one point in the game you were playing a squash type game against a "friend" whose arm you cut with your racket.
shortly after the wound was gone. Soon after that you had to battle a blood borne monster.
Any Ideas?

I was working on a some dead 1050's today and I found two drives that had pin 25 missing on the 2797. But one of the two drives works perfectly. Then I found another working 1050 that had a 2797, but with pin 25 intact. Does anyone know why the pin 25 might have been was removed. I don't believe it is just a coincidence that pin 25 was missing on two separate drives. (?)
Also, another 1050 will not always "seek" when powered up, but if I bump the drive slightly, then it works fine. Removed, inspected and replaced all socketed IC's, and it still does the same thing. Has anyone run into this before, or can hazard a guess what might be going on?

Sounds to me like you have a loose solder joint. Give them a check.

After looking at Jerzy Sobolo's schematics, for the keyboard multiplexer ic's look for CD4051's

Is there a routine for Turbo Basic XL or Atari Baisc for a "PRINT USING" comand that someone has written?
I do not want to re-invent the wheel if I do not have to .

Adding the sub-forums would make it easier to find threads on specific topics such as the software, hardware, gaming ect.
The search feature sometimes leaves me scratching my head.

Unless I'm very much mistaken - and I frequently am - you'll need a version of Turbo Basic which doesn't occupy the Shadow RAM under the OS, since I believe RealDOS already uses it.
Be reminded that Turbo-BASIC 1.4 (the version that doesn't occupy Shadow RAM) only leaves approx. 22K of RAM free.
I should have it on original disk somewhere...
Thorsten
I have a copy here - thanks
I guess I don't!
The file is labled "TurboBasic 1.4 (alt).atr and not XL.

I know this is off subject a little but...
I am using atari800win plus on both a WINDOWS 7 system and WINE on a Ubuntu Linux system.
In either case TurboBasic XL freezes trying to load it with REALDOS .
How do I get TurboBasic XL to load with REALDOS?
With SPARTADOS X I use the X command with banking turned on to load it.
Or is it not compatible yet.
Also how do you copy the dos files to a new disk? Even in the dos menu I no longer see the "H" command.

This being a command-line DOS, you're best using:
COPY source.ext dest.ext
to copy files. There's also the "MENU" command, if you like visual file managers.
And once you've copied the REAL.DOS file to the new disk use this command to make it bootable
BOOT REAL.DOS
Thanks - i had no idea on which file(s) to copy!

I have also used the Atari800win emulator for years and have always appreciated the time, energy and hard work that was put into it.
Bill
I have been using it for years also. Even use it with wine on Ubuntu Linux. I just never thought of the joystick settings clobbering the cursor keys on VISTA and 7.

I am running Atari800WinPLus 4.0 on a 64-bit Windows 7 computer with an AMD TurionX2 64-bit processor.
I do not have cursor key control at all. I remember not having cursor control on a 32-bit AMD dual core processor running 32-bit Windows Vista.
Any Ideas?
I'm using A800plus4 since 3 years now on Vista 64. Cursor Keys work well.
What's exactly the problem?
One hint: Defined keys for Joystick Port get blocked for normal key access.
You can release the keys in "Advanced Joystick Options" "Allow using Keyset keys also as regular keys"
OK - With the joystick using "arrows + RCrtl as fire" kills the cursor keys!
What is the largest mydos atr size that altirra will use - it crashes with 65535 atr's for me.

Atari800WinPLus 4.0 emulator is already obsolete. Its last version came out almost 5 years ago and all the "next" versions were rather experimental. The author has even posted its source here and "someone" even promised to make something with it. So meanwhile I'd recommend using Altirra. for "post-XP" systems.
"Someone" & "Promised" are rather strong words. lol.
Are you holding the CTRL key down when you use the cursor keys?
Never heard of this - I'll give it a try!
-
yup... Altirra or Atari800Mac... both have regular updates.
Will Atari800Mac run on Windows 7?

Never had much luck with Altirra but I'll try it again.

Something is tying pin 8 of the GTIA to ground.
check the following :
C97 - 1nf capacitor - may be shorted
U18 - 74ls08 - inputs to AND gate may be shorted internaly
GTIA - may be shorted internaly.

Back about 1985 My brother asked me to write a program to manage his consignment record keeping for his consignment store.
The computer i used was a 800XL, two 1050's, an atari Printer and a small color tv. I wrote the program in atari basic.
Some highlights:
Program ran off disk 1
the day's transactions were stored on disk 1
at the end of the day the transactions were posted to account disks on drive 2
an account disk held 50 accounts so there were a lot of disk swapping.
eventually we had to put a couple of accounts on their own disk.
It consisted of about 4 or 5 small programs run from a main menu program.
he used the program for about 3 or 4 years.
Sadly i did not submit it to any magazines nor do i have the program any more.
Any other business uses?
