Price point and controllers offering a unique playing experience. Nintendo did a very smart thing. Number of consoles doesn't guarantee you'll sell lots of games though. I look at the Wii as a party game console. Oh and since Nintendo is reusing old technology their costs are much lower so they can actually make a profit on a $250 console where the other two console makers lose money on each console sold......and then there's MS which has also set aside another $1 billion for potential warranty claims.

Is it the final final version? Great work Bob! Can't wait to show it off at the Florida Classic next Saturday! The others were "release candidates". lol

Gamestop, home of sealed and pristine games.
AtariRocks replied to Gabriel's topic in Modern Console Discussion
All they have to do is leave out one empty box and leave the sealed one locked up for when you actually buy it. I don't see how that would take longer than them putting the disc back in the case for a "new" game. In fact this should save them time as they don't have to strip out all the games. -

I ASSUME they are suppose to change the chip too but the only modification they're making apparently is putting in a bigger heatsink. -
Wii fanboys suddenly describing themselves as 'hardcore'

I hate anti-labelers The term hardcore gamer simply translates to "dork", "nerd" or "geek" to me. -

I got a "refurbished" Xbox360 for $250 including shipping from a private auction site. It was also DOA with the RROD so I had to wait a couple of weeks to actually play it. At least MS fixed it for free and didn't give me a hassle. Apparently all they do with the "refurbished" consoles is put in a bigger heatsink. -
Somebody dislikes Halo 3's Graphics for an unknown reason!

Multi disc game on a console with wireless controllers? Good luck with selling consumers on having to go change the disc in the middle of a game. -

Each line in the menu has to have the proper syntax whether that game actually works or not and you can't have blank lines. You can have menus within menus though. CC2 FAQ I'm pretty sure that page has some menus to download.

The price is down to $850 now. It's so rare he's got two of them.

Most people who have had 3 systems die have had one brand new system die and then 2 refurbished systems die. It doesn't mean they've done anything wrong. The console should work regardless of whether you have a third party cooling system anyway. If it won't then they shouldn't be selling them without a proper cooling solution. Apparently what they're doing when these RROD consoles are shipped in is putting in a much larger heat sink. I've seen reports from 25% to 33% of the consoles dying. That would still mean that most people have not had any problems with their consoles at all. The PSU comes with a light on it. If that light is not green and you're getting the RROD MS will tell you to replace the PSU first. The PSU still only has a one year warranty.

Hi I have no problems to play it on my NTSC and my PAL system. Use this entries on the CC2 Xevious XEV78 HSC_32K HSC If it should not work,i will check again. greetings Walter That's the first one I tried and it didn't work.
-
Yeah tried it with my NTSC 7800 and it didn't work. The Atari logo comes up but after that I just get a couple of vertical yellow lines on the screen.
-
I just played a quick game with the new one and it seemed fine Bob. Oh and I only noticed the collision detection because someone else noticed it lol. I normally ignore stuff like that.
-
Yeah I just put in tonight's build and I did notice the big UFO seems to have the same collision detection as the smaller one. Don't know about the big UFO coming directly at me though but it did pass by rather close once and I thought I'd shot it right in the middle but didn't get a hit registered. It went off the screen without killing me though.

Mario Kart Double Dash is a driving game and done rather well. -
It's sold out permanently. I think Chad is now working on a CC3 for the Intellivision.

Do any of you not read the game manuals anymore?
AtariRocks replied to Ross PK's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Reading any manual is considered cheating. Men shouldn't read manuals until they've already screwed up. -
Yep it's out there. Browsed past it this morning.

One of the older models of the Logitech PC wheels would overheat on people as well.
