Is she a mom?  Because apparently it's the moms that can't figure out netflix.

Yes she is a mom. So I'm happy to say I don't have have to pay extra for a basic linux PC to have her watch Netflix.

And I'm happy to say the kid is mine. Poor thing has to face growing up and possibly looking a lot like me. It's a shame and will probably require him eating many tacos to console himself.

Maybe when this is all done they can just sell the cases? That I would maybe buy to make some type of modded rig for the TV. That is the one thing I do think they nailed.

they're eating each other alive over on the IGG page- which backer will emerge victorious to claim their Box?

See my wife knows how to use Netflix on multiple devices and wasn't interested in the VCS. So I guess I'm lucky she/myself isn't in the TacoShoebox Hunger Wars.

If she wants to play switch games then she should choose the switch, price is not the issue.  Others will choose Amico games.

If that was the case I wouldn't have mentioned my experiences. She didn't mention us getting a Switch until the price rise. When it was $180 to $200 she thought the games looked okay for Amico, but didn't think the games looked worth it at the $250 price point. Just being 'cheaper' isn't enough to sell the console/games.

Like someone mentioned it is going to take more to push the value of it. But yeah she was for getting an Amico around the $180-$200.

Nothing good has been coming from that place for some time.  Just noisy pigeons and an occasional meme-able quote.  Getting long in the tooth tbh, yet we continue ..... for taco's sake.

Wonder if they will also stiff Converse on paying them for use of their box?

Yeah but lets be honest you didnt just pay 250 and to say 200 to 250 made a difference.  Really? Did adding another 60 dollars for 1 game make a difference?  Or another controller at a minimum of 45 buck for a 3rd party controller make a difference?  Because I have a switch and using the joycon isn't great as 2 controllers. So 250 for a console that has 2 controllers the option to add 6 more at not cost and 6 added games and a whole list of games at launch that dont cost 60 bucks but 10 or less. The total cost to own a switch and  the games will well exceed the Amico by nearly double.  So its obvious price isnt the issue.

Yeah it made a difference. And no, the $60 game didn't make a difference (she already knows two games she would love and easily get her money's worth in those.). Nor extra controllers mattered as no one needs 8 pairs of extra controllers. So yeah price of the console is the issue. You might not want to believe it but that's what it is.

If someone were to choose a switch over an amico at $249, they should still make that choice at $199.  The $50 difference is small compared to the money that will be spent on switch games with those nintendo IPs.

See I disagree. Once it hit the $250 in my household it changed. $200 vs $250 made a big difference.

Switch games may be higher but there are certain games that you know are high quality polish, you will enjoy them for sure, and can get your money worth of that $50 to $60. One of the benefits of being a company that has pumped out games consistently over the years is that trust in first party games being good.

Wife hasn't seen anything to dictate the price at $250 when she knows she can find some simple games on the Switch she would like. When it was $150-$200 she was more positive on it. So yeah it can make a difference.

Out playing cornhole for the first time this year, 58 F and a little bit windy...which I blamed for my poor performance, of course.  Made me wonder if the Amico version will have weather to account for, like Wii Archery.  Unnecessary, but a fun way to add difficulty.

You can see wind will at least be a factor in the footage.

I’ve always thought $199 is the absolute sweet spot for Amico and the Intellivision team. I think a few posts back Tommy acknowledged that to reach millions AND millions of units sold they need to be at this price point. Don’t label me a hater or troll(I’ve got 2 Founders Edition ordered) but I think $250 to $279 gives some consumers a reason to pause. People like my wife(only market research I have to go on) will see Amico at $249 compared to Nintendo and their well-known IP’s and will think twice...in my opinion. Doesn’t mean they WON’T purchase Amico...but $249 gives pause to some consumers.

Tommy and his team know this and will hammer home value(6 games included), fun(all games co op) and safe for all families(e10 rating). We all love Amico here, yet we are not Intellivisions target audience. We all know it will sell at $249, but, make no mistake, the video game business and introducing a new console to market isn’t a cake walk.

This is unfortunately the spot we are in at my household with the price.

I have a question for the group...

Does Steam even show the esrb (the ratings) for games?

I know certain games have a warning before you can go to the page (because of extreme violence or adult themes) but I couldn't find the esrb for some games on their game page.

Am I looking on the right place?

    Are these games even rated?

I went to the esrb website and that is no help.

I'm looking through the Steam app and if you scroll down on the games page it's there.

Wait I'm confused, if the OG fans who care want nothing to do with Atari in it's current state and by your admission the majority of the population neither knows or cares about Atari, who is the tacobox for again?

    Mom's who like Netflix.

We oldies are the keepers of the heritage and even know how to extend it, broaden it, carry it forward, by producing games that are true to the spirit - the new homebrews.

Man if I had a beer right now I would pop one open and drink to that!!!

Art direction is more important than the actual graphics.

    I think it's all related.

I do find some 3d mobile quality graphics and art to look more cheap that some pixelated looks. I think because if not done right they sometimes look like flash games.

Really about how it all comes together.

What's the obsession about graphics? Here is my list of important game features ...

    1. Is it fun?

    2. Is it easy to learn?

    3. Is it fun?

    4. Is it easy to play?

    5. Is it fun?

I don't think graphics are everything but they can help. With the console being at a higher price I would expect some more polish. Good graphics don't have to be flashy either. Does the theme match? Does the theme go together?

Stardew Valley. Pixel graphics but has a theme and everything goes great together and that's why it's great. Same farming game without the graphics to match and it wouldn't be the same charming game.

Completely agree with what you're saying, but it brings to mind a single example of a time when looking away from the big screen and onto the screen in your hands was utilized in a way that enhanced gameplay -- ZombiU on the Wii U.    To access your inventory (looking through your backpack, if I remember correctly) you had to look away from the TV and look down at the table/controller in your hand.  While doing so, the gameplay continued, so it added a bit of tension not knowing if you're gonna get jumped while rummaging through your pack.

Wonder if any other developers used a similar tactic in their games?  Sounds like it could be a nifty tool in Amico developers' arsenal to bring something a bit different to those games as well.

Cloudy seems like the best example of this possibility right now. Depends on if there is much in the way of inventory. Tarkin would be a better example though.

call me PB because I'm jelly of your dinner.  We were lazy-asses and drove to the next town for drive-through takeout, lol.

we have filling from stuffed bell peppers last night, so likely that will be *tacos* tomorrow now.

speaking of burgers, how bout Burgertime for the Amico?  any screenshots/etc yet?

Stuffed peppers sound great too. Still have some leftovers from a couple of days ago when I did cornhole and spicy/honey glazed drumsticks.

Would be cool to see some Burger Time footage. I'm thinking something that looks like the Lode Runner Legacy would be a cool look for BT.
