  1. Great machine to have, lots of great games! Metroid Zero Mission and Mario vs Donkey Kong are brilliant!
  2. Weird... that picture of his Commodore SX 64 ain't like no SX64 that I've ever seen.
  3. Old post, sorry - Pagestream and Dynacadd are both gone.
  4. There's one a bit closer to you, in Regina: https://www.facebook.com/Wonderland-Entertainment-Centre-168429786562149/ It does have a small-ish selection of classic titles, along with multi-player driving games (the big cabs linked up), shooting and dancing games, and a couple of Mame machines. Not bad, of course nothing compared to the 80s and early 90s.
  5. Loved that scene. Actually, the whole accounts payable section with its weird retro tech fusion was probably my favourite part of the movie. Clever!
  7. The Star Wars scenes are great! And I think I spotted Captain Future's spaceship hanging from the ceiling? Now that brings me back!
  8. Interesting thoughts! BTW, as soon as I saw the topic title, before reading the post, my first thought was "hey, Empire Strikes Back!". Now I'm trying to think back to anything earlier than that game, but so far got nothing. I don't think Darth Vader's ship counts, as you couldn't actually destroy it, right? (sort of like Evil Otto in Berzerk) One change is definitely available memory for games. Keeping different states (and possibly different graphics) for enemies in storage would have taken up a bit more space and processing power.
  9. The Super Mario Bros games have a Mario Bros version that is fun.
  10. I appreciate the sentiment, Seb! But I still have my 1040 STE and a spare 1040 STF, which are the ones I grew up on (and which I'm playing the games on that I'm buying from you - hehe - just had a round of Metrocross yesterday!). The Mega STE is beautiful and nice to have, but it truly has just sat in a box for the past 10 years. Time for someone new to love it.
  11. Le bump. Any interest in this? I will list in on eBay eventually, but I'd rather give someone here a good price and deal with them directly.
  12. I've decided to sell it (without working HD), open to offers: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/253690-fs-atari-mega-ste-with-original-boxpackaging/
  13. I've decided to sell my Atari Mega STe. It has served the family well, but it just has been sitting in its box for over a decade now, so I think it's time to move on (its younger brother, my 1040 STe, gets all the attention). It's a 4 Meg, 40 MB HD model. It's still in very nice condition (little to no yellowing). It also comes with its original packaging including the Styrofoam. Check out the pictures for most of the details. About the computer: * I tested it for an afternoon. Played a few games on it, both on a TV using the FM output, and on a Commodore 1084 monitor, both outputs work great. Also tested out 1st Word plus on an SM124 monitor, and the B/W output is perfect, too. Note that games/software and monitors are NOT included. * While the disk drive is working great, the hard drive is not. In fact, with it plugged in, the computer wouldn't power-up/boot at all. I had to disconnect the HD from the power supply to start it up. I am still including the HD, perhaps it's an easy fix, but you should probably count on needing a replacement drive. * The other thing that is not working is the mouse. It's an aftermarket model, and one direction doesn't work. Again, I'm including it as an extra. I have only one fully functional mouse, which is staying with my 1040, sorry. I think it may be just a matter of cleaning out the rollers, but just so you know. (And yes, I did test it with the functional mouse and it worked great, so the port is functional). * My cousin had the computer for a few years in his music studio, and I think he may have changed/upgraded the memory at the time. I'm including a bunch of extra chips that were in the box. Nobody remembers if these were the old chips, or the new chips to be put in - see pictures, again, just included as an extra. The reason I think the original chips may still be in the computer was that the sticker covering the main screw to open up the STe was still intact. But I could be wrong. * I'm also throwing in a SC1224/SM124 monitor switcher (I have two, and don't really need them). * The outer box has some shipping sticker and some duck tape in parts, including the original Atari shipping sticker. Again, see pics. It does include the smaller "inside box" for the manual etc, but I forgot to take a picture of it. About price and shipping: * I'm guessing I could sell this for $300-$400 US on eBay. I would rather sell it to another collector directly, so I'm open for offers. * I'm located in Regina, Canada. Local pickup is free and preferred, shipping within Canada would be $35, shipping to the US would be $90. I will wrap the box in an additional layer of cardboard so that no further stickers are attached to it. Thanks for your interest!
  14. It's the hard drive! I realized that a second sound was coming in synch with the fan from the HD. On a whim, I disconnected it from the power supply... and now everything works! (except the HD, of course) Now to see if I can get working again.
  15. I did open it up and cleaned it all out (lots of dust). Now I can see where the noise is coming from, it's the fan which keeps turning for a tiny bit and then stopping again (turning on and off). Also one wire to the front light has come off, so I suppose that's why no light is going on.
  16. I have a Mega STE with 4Mb Ram and 40 Mb hard drive, still complete in its original box with Styrofoam. I used to work back in the 90s, but hasn't been out of its box in at least a decade. Today I took it out to fire it up and see what was even on it, with the intention of possible selling it (given that it's been on the shelf and un-loved for so long). Unfortunately, it doesn't power up. No lights go on, and I can hear a rhythmic ticking sound coming from inside (about once per second, a single low frequency click (or a very quiet thud)). Are there any suggestions on what this might be, and if there is something I should look at? I haven't opened it up yet, I thought I'd check here first.
  17. Wow, Battlecruiser 3000 - now that's a story I completely forgot about!
  18. I have four software packages for the ST that I've decided to sell. Not looking to get much, but shipping is a bit of a bummer. Note that, other than Script (aka Signum!) there are no disks. Unfortunately they have disappeared over the years. Sketch (Box, Manual) Script (Box, Manual, Font Flyer, Two Disks) PageStream (Box, Manual/Folder) DynaCadd (Box, Manual/Folder, Dongle, no disks) Any interest? Make me an offer. (Shipping is expensive given the weight. To anywhere in Canada, shipping would be $20. To the US it would be $40. To Europe would require a 2nd mortgage!)
  19. Thanks all for the input! I'm going to keep more carts out from now on.
  20. What an amazing collection! Love seeing your updates!
  21. Most recently, Portal 2 truly made me laugh out loud a few times. I loved the "Wheatley" character!
  22. Answering my own question, looking at this thread, the jury seems to be out on this. Any new insights? http://atariage.com/forums/topic/125169-is-it-bad-to-keep-a-cartridge-in-your-console/
