  1. I did open it up and cleaned it all out (lots of dust). Now I can see where the noise is coming from, it's the fan which keeps turning for a tiny bit and then stopping again (turning on and off). Also one wire to the front light has come off, so I suppose that's why no light is going on.
  2. I have a Mega STE with 4Mb Ram and 40 Mb hard drive, still complete in its original box with Styrofoam. I used to work back in the 90s, but hasn't been out of its box in at least a decade. Today I took it out to fire it up and see what was even on it, with the intention of possible selling it (given that it's been on the shelf and un-loved for so long). Unfortunately, it doesn't power up. No lights go on, and I can hear a rhythmic ticking sound coming from inside (about once per second, a single low frequency click (or a very quiet thud)). Are there any suggestions on what this might be, and if there is something I should look at? I haven't opened it up yet, I thought I'd check here first.
  3. Wow, Battlecruiser 3000 - now that's a story I completely forgot about!
  4. I have four software packages for the ST that I've decided to sell. Not looking to get much, but shipping is a bit of a bummer. Note that, other than Script (aka Signum!) there are no disks. Unfortunately they have disappeared over the years. Sketch (Box, Manual) Script (Box, Manual, Font Flyer, Two Disks) PageStream (Box, Manual/Folder) DynaCadd (Box, Manual/Folder, Dongle, no disks) Any interest? Make me an offer. (Shipping is expensive given the weight. To anywhere in Canada, shipping would be $20. To the US it would be $40. To Europe would require a 2nd mortgage!)
  5. Thanks all for the input! I'm going to keep more carts out from now on.
  6. What an amazing collection! Love seeing your updates!
  7. Most recently, Portal 2 truly made me laugh out loud a few times. I loved the "Wheatley" character!
  8. Answering my own question, looking at this thread, the jury seems to be out on this. Any new insights? http://atariage.com/forums/topic/125169-is-it-bad-to-keep-a-cartridge-in-your-console/
  9. Any opinions (or - I can dream - evidence based research) on whether it makes a difference in storing consoles to keep a cartridge in or out? I'm talking medium to long term. Sometimes a console may go into one of my plastic storage bins and doesn't get played for a year or longer. I always keep a cartridge in place, but would it be better (for the console or the cart) to not do so?
  10. Want to buy a picture of someone else playing Atari? Well now you can: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/cs0479-Vintage-Color-photo-set-lot-of-2-men-kick-back-play-atari-video-game-/252310313433?&_trksid=p2056016.m2518.l4276 (I wonder what the legality is here. What happens if those two guys happen to stumble upon this auction, assuming this picture was found at a Garage Sale etc)
  11. Weird, I've almost never had any problems with commodore computers. I must have had a dozen C64 and half a dozen Vic 20s over the years, and I think one each wasn't functional or had issues. And some of these have been at the bottom of a grimy box marked $5 for junk at garage sales.
  12. Red blue green is likely component video - I don't know of an easy way to get from the C64 to component... there may be adapters for sale online?
  13. And another thumbs up from me - items arrived well packed and as described.
  14. Great video - the Interton was my first video game console. Still have it boxed and five cartridges (#1, 3, 4, 7, 19).
  15. I was just thinking of him the other day and was going to ask the same question. I hope he is healthy and happy, wherever he is.
  16. Atari ST version (not listed) hands down. Or does it not count since it was released much later?
  17. Free bump and Thumbs Up for a great seller! Purchased two games, arrived safe and sound and in great shape.
  18. My guess is many are in the same position as you, wanting a monitor that does both PAL and NTSC (that's what I'm after, hoping to luck out and find a 20" PVM locally)
  19. Free bump and thumbs up from me. Bought a couple of games, everything went smoothly, easy to deal with, games arrived well packaged.
  20. Just checked on shipping to the UK, that would be $26 surface (slow! takes 2 months) or $60 airmail (!!!). (disks weigh almost 2kg)
