      It is calculated that mammals have between 1-3 billion heartbeats, humans in the upper range.

      Though of course the heart is not preset to a finite number of beats, just that the life expectancy multiplied by heart rate ends up with those numbers. Otherwise someone like Fourcade would look forward to becoming some 150++ years old if heart was the only limiting condition.
