  1. The ergonomics of my new Mr. Coffee machine are absolutely horrible. As if it were designed by somebody that's never used a coffee maker before. I think I hate it.  lol

I have a $10 Black and Decker coffeemaker. You go to push the on button, and the thing is so light (even with 4 cups of water in it) that the unit slides backwards. So you have to hold the unit down.  Not a big deal especially on a cheap unit.  We're spoiled with cheap products, but they are definitely "cheap".

I like my new-ish Black & Decker ('bout $30), but it started and then maybe (?) quit making gurgling noises for some reason...I bought it when I figured the old one died and was making those same gurgling noises heh...

My Black & Decker we bought at a yard sale 15 years ago is still going strong, and the best coffee maker I've had.

  2. Is there a way to 'ignore' entire sub-forums? Or keep from showing in 'unread content'? I'll try to mark as 'all read' but as soon as something new is posted, it'll show.

    I'd like to deep-six Modern Gaming.   ;)

Yes, you can customize the "Unread Content" query, save it, and then make it the default.  To select which forums you want to see, click the "Content Types" menu, then "Topics", and then you can go through all the forums and select which ones you want to see.  Apply changes when you're done, make any other changes you want, then click "Save As New Stream".  You can then click the checkmark next to the stream name to set it as your default stream.

^Thanks Al!  (Check it out save2600!)  This is pretty cool and surprisingly easy.  For example, I just hit unread content, then made it for Content I posted in and Content of Members I follow.  I then labeled it Unread Content 2* and it shows up in my Activity Stream under Custom Streams (or something like that)...

      *real original I know :)

      Awesome, thank you Al!

Labeled my stream as simply Unread Content Preferred.   :)

  3. Tombstone... the movie! How could I have forgotten that one? Had to adjust my "Top 10" favorite movies to include that modern classic.

Tombstone is definitely one of the better Westerns I've seen.  Good, Bad & Ugly, Once Upon A Time In The West, Outlaw Josey Wales, High Plains Drifter, Wild Bunch, Shootist, etc.  Tombstone ranks among those for me.  Even if Kurt Russell isn't really that great an actor.

    3. Cobra Kai

      Cobra Kai

Tombstone and Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp are a great bellweather on knowing if someone is full of bullshit about the topic of the Earps. It's almost conventional wisdom that the Kevin Costner flick is 'more accurate'. That is complete bullshit. If you ever read any books about Wyatt Earp, I recommend Inventing Wyatt Earp, but you'll actually find out that Tombstone was the better representation of the happenings, especially the way all the characters looked.

    4. Cobra Kai

      Cobra Kai

I don't know how the movie Wyatt Earp became the film that people associate with accuracy, I think it's because it has some pre-Tombstone era stuff in Dodge City. Maybe it's just assumed that Tombstone isn't historically accurate because it's such a flashy 'action' style western. Don't get me wrong, there's alot of hollywood goofs in Tombstone, but it generally gets it right.

  6. Why is it nearly every update to iOS negatively affects/impacts the keyboard? 12.3.1... This time, a glitch where the keyboard doesn't recede when it's supposed to during certain instances and pressing the "Go" button doesn't do anything. sigh

But yeah, it's well beyond obvious now that the tactic is to cripple "aging" hardware in order to get you to purchase new. It's why I refuse to pay retail for this crap anymore. Will only wait for deals.

      Flojomojo

Dunno if you're looking for advice, but a clean install, as awful as it is, sometimes helps with this kind of thing.

I reverted back from the iOS13 beta and am enjoying some of the perks of a clean start now that the restore hassle is over.

Fastest way to do this is to make an encrypted backup to a computer, then zero out the device, then reload from the backup file. Most settings except for touchID and wallet stuff will come back without drama.

We have those Amdro baits for around the house - but they don't seem to be working so well against the occasional large carpenter ants. It's the ones outside that are real pests. Ant hills everywhere! Have tried wide area application in the yard with this brown dust stuff, but again - not working so well. :-(

I gotta admit I cracked up when I read this Status Update this morning...Something about the wording Invest in an Aardvark....It's Classic! Then again I've been sick and tired all day w/ a very sore throat and just trying to get to my weekend which I finally did! (Also worked a double shift!) Anyhow I picture an old guy giving advice about Investing in an aardvark.

      GoldLeader

Sonny lemme tell ya these Aardvarks are worth their weight in gold! Ya gotta get one! And After all the ants are gone you can still sell the sucker and make a profit!...It's "Can't Lose" my boy, "Can't Lose"!! Now,...Ya got a backyard? Plant Raisins!! **(Then again that could be the exhaustion or the medication talking ;) **

People seem to think that Jim Carrey is the best thing about this movie. They might have been right (whatever that's worth) if it was the Jim Carrey from ~15 years ago, but this is the older, sadder, gone-screwy Jim Carrey. How much fun to watch will that be?
