  1. Hi all, For all you game collectors out there. A beautiful boxed definitive edition of the MP Lord classic Droid will be released in time for Christmas by Bitmap Soft. This release will contain the original ST Format release (MP Lord), the STe enhanced version by Jamie Hamshere (Junosix) and a final version of Droid 2, with a few bug fixes done by Miles Lord himself. And of course, as in true Bitmap Soft tradition, some extras like a nice booklet with author notes and more. If you want a boxed ST game underneath your christmas tree, you can pre-order here : Droid Definitive Collection If you want to learn more about the history of the games : Reinterpreting Droid STAY ATARI!
  2. Hi all, I like to present my latest video to those interested. Zero-5 was one of the last commercial games on the STe, Falcon and TT. Released by Caspian software. For those interested in spaceshooters :

  5. This really clears things up for me. You know, I'm not the kinda guy who likes to badmouth people, and as said in the videos, I at least try to bring something creative and positive to this wonderful community, in my case the creation of www.atarilegend.com and since last year, a youtube channel. And after reading all this, I want to share my (luckily) very short experience with this gentleman. It first started when I posted this interview last year : https://www.atarilegend.com/interviews/interviews_detail.php?selected_interview_id=44 I've always been a fan of this man ever since he released Atari ST Gamer magazine and the wonderfull Ataricrypt magazine to the ST community, and since I just got his new Atari 8 Bit book, I thought it was time to interview the man. Right after I posted the interview, I got a PM in the AtariLegend inbox by KH in which he said he was "extremely upset and concerned" about the interview. I had to remove at least part of the interview, according to him. He said the interview would put my precious website in bad light. For me, that was one bridge to far so I went in full ignore mode. Which was, after reading all the posts in this thread, the best I could do. A few minutes later I also got some negative reactions on Twitter, telling the people he could not understand why AL would take part in this (nowhere in the interview was it even suggested it had anything to do with him so I found his behavior really really strange). After that, AL was removed from all his Twitter communications. Weird... Needless to say, I was a bit in awe, I had enjoyed some of his YT videos and was always positive towards him ... A month later, after reading the fantastic Atari : a Visual History, I decided to make my very first book review video. I thought I made a pretty cool video. But just when it was released, I got negative and just downright weird feedback from one Forza77, completely dragging the author of this book through the dirt as well as Chris Wilkins. Ofcourse now, all these remarks have been removed apparantly (which I think is good), only the thumbs down have stayed The only thing left from KH is this remark when I announced the vid on the AL FB page : Always fun to read after spending many hours on creating a video (even if it turns out to be a bit of a controversial one). I have nothing against constructive criticism but this ... bah... But now I understand everything that I've experienced in the last 2 or 3 months, and it is very clear to me. Over the years, I was warned a bit about his 'odd' behavior, but I'm the kinda guy who gives everybody a chance. I will avoid this person like the plague.

  11. For those interested, a new interview with Stefan Benz / Lotek Style was added to the Atari Legend database : https://www.atarilegend.com/interviews/interviews_detail.php?selected_interview_id=40 If there is one man who has done his share of contributions to the Atari ST scene, it must be Stefan Benz / Lotek Style. He is the founder of projects like Fading Twilight and Fujiology, main Atari ST archivist at demozoo.org, full time YM Rocker and member of The Sirius Cybernetics Corporation. He has been creating chiptunes since the early 90's and has recently released his first synthwave album called Laser Days. If you are a fan of Atari ST demos, the scene or music, this has got to be your cup of tea!

  17. Hello, Was wondering if there is anyone out there who has an SF354 for parts? I know this drive does not get much love because it is a single sided 350kb drive. Was wondering if anyone has the drive itself perhaps for sale (when swapped with a double sided perhaps)? I'm looking for a working one (WITH THE SMALL SQUARE BUTTON) to replace my broken drive. Anyone? Thanks, Maarten
  18. Gadget, Thanks for trying to help me. I did another check in the STe, but the drive was connected correctly. I read your posts again, stared at the chips and switches but I just don't have the know how or skills to do any PCB testing. Too bad. I guess this thing will stay unusable for me for a while :-s Anyway, thanks again, and I will be following you on youtube Maarten
  19. Thanks for the feedback Gadget. I hope to have some more time tonight to do some more tests. I'll keep you posted. About your last remark. Could be I did not connect them correctly, because when I wanted to put the STe internal drive into the external SF354 casing, I noticed both the ports on the internal drive were switched from position compared to the external drive, so who knows ... I will do that test first again ... Cheers, Maarten
  20. Hello Gadget, Our analysis (when looking at the AF thread) is also a problem with the motor/head. The head doesn't move at all when booting. The humming noice continues constantly when I reach the desktop, it doesn't stop. I've made some pictures of the drive : top : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204048212138886&set=a.10204042542637152.1073741832.1031601749&type=1&theater Bottom : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204048212178887&set=a.10204042542637152.1073741832.1031601749&type=1&theater I'm looking through the service manual, to the motor and head diagrams, but I can't seem to find the worm.tooth you describe : http://info-coach.fr/atari/hardware/fd-hard/ST_SF354_ServiceManual_v2.pdf Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks, Maarten
  21. I see you have an interesting youtube channel ... will check that one out ...
  22. Thanks a lot for the feedback GadgetUK, really appreciate it. If you browse through the thread, you will notice I have 3 more movies posted. Please have a look. I did move the drive's head manually. I tested the drive on a 520 ST and today I switched the drive in my STe. I will get back to you with more photo's tomorrow, but please keep in mind I am no hardware or electronics guy, I'm a beginner and I would just love to have this original SF354 working again ... I will also try and put the STe diskdrive in the external unit ... Thanks again. Maarten
  23. Hello all, Anyone of you have any idea what could be wrong with this SF354? I would just like to have it working again. I started a thread over at Atari-Forum. If anyone is willing to have a look and has any idea, please let me know. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=27116 Thanks, Maarten
  24. Hello All, I've been an ST nut all my life. Recently I've been focussing more on retro gaming in general, so I'm gonna part with some machines. I already have 2 Atari 1040 STE's, so this one doesn't get any use anymore. I'm willing to sell or trade for something else. Boxed ST games, or even games for other systems. I'm also interested in other systems for my collection ... What you should know. The Mega 1 has yellowed over time (this thing was used professionally by my dad until the end of the 90's) and 10 years ago I tried bleaching the keyboard (wanted to make a nice display model for my collection). Back then we did not have retrobright I tested the machine 2 weeks ago and it works perfectly, it also has a HD inside. All this thing need is some TLC to make it look new again : https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?f ... =1&theater https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?f ... =1&theater I also have 2 SM124's for sale or trade. One is from october 1985 (has been in the family all my life) and the other one is from october 1987 (my personal one when I was a teenager). This week I bought an sm124 in the box, so these 2 can go now. Here is a pic of one : https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?f ... =1&theater If there is anybody interested, let me know, as I said, I'm open for all kinds of offers ... Thank you, Maarten
  25. I think you are doing an amazing job for the community, Lars. It looks promising! I hope you find some musicians ... I'll see if I find someone for you. Cheers, Graveyard
