  1. About to buy a new computer, and thinking to install Windows 7 64bit...?

Anyone having problems with Stella & Mame ?

I know that the above emulations already have 64bit version... but what about other emulators ?

I am using mame32fx, anyone knows if there is 64bit for this emulator ?

    Thanks

  2. vSync is NOT working !!!

in barnstorming the tearing effect is very noticable...

If you're using Vista, then OpenGL vsync doesn't seem to work. It's a Vista thing, which basically broke a lot of OpenGL functionality. If you're using an older version of Windows or something else (Linux or OSX), then vsync should be working. What hardware/OS do you have?

Windows XP Pro. with nVidia 8500GT, intel Q6600

I also tried to make changes to vSync through the control panel but it didn't work...

  3. Hi,

Who thinks that the Autentic Atari 2600 Look (CRT TV ?) is not an important factor anymore ?

since connecting the 2600 to a modern TV looks less good (& Autentic)...

and we may have better results using PC (with emulation) connected through VGA (or HDMI) ???

    What do u think ???

    Thanks

It's the reason I still don't play emulated games on Stella.

    I miss the authentic look.

That old TV set screen look is very important IMO.

Stella should provide some kind of rendering filters the way mame does,

Stella only provide now a linear filtering (OpenGL)...

I Think that mame filters make the final image more autentic...

It's on the TODO list. Release 2.7.x was a huge step in eventually getting this, as the built-in UI is now separated from the TIA emulation. This was necessary, since otherwise any filtering would be applied to the UI as well. But my main goal for the next major release is improved TIA HMOVE emulation, and since it's been put off for so long, I have to do it before anything else. That means filtering, movies recording, netplay, etc will have to wait.

Of course, the real problem is that I'm the only person working on Stella right now, and I have limited time as it is. So the 'big four' things left to do all have to be done by one person, and I can't start one without finishing the other ...

First I really enjoy stella and your work, And I think that the

combination between an autentic visuals plus using the original hardware parts (Joysticks, Paddles) will

bring the user very close to the original feeling he likes...

I really like my Atari 2600 BUT 10-20 years from now I think we will play mostly emulated games...

This another step to close the gap between real & emulated...

I'm pretty sure I have at least one more yellow-buttoned Gemstick.

The Odyssey 2 controllers have been re-wired to be 2600 compatible. The NES pad is 7800 compatible. I also have 3 Genesis pads that I use on my Atari's.

The Gemstick, a CX-40, the Wico Boss, and a set of paddles are my original controllers from the 80's.

    Wow !!!
