  1. 1) How many video games is "enough"? This is unknowable 2) How many ports of a given video game is "enough"? This is unknowable C) Is Adventure for the VCS the best commercially released video game of all time? Not even close although it is good. IV) Should the industry move to flash-based carts to solve the load time problem of modern games? I would like that. E) If you spend more than five minutes per day thinking about your video game collection, do you have a problem? No 6) Is it wrong to feel as though damaging a video game, box, or instruction manual is a betrayal of future gamers that should be punishable by public flogging? No but it's silly
  2. OK, reduced the complexity a bit and added a slight blur to the wall. The contrast has to stay about the same because otherwise it almost disappears when it goes to print.
  3. I don't think modern games are any easier or harder but the controls are definitely more complex which irritates me most of the time. All games should adhere to easy to learn, difficult to master but many modern games are not easy to learn without serious amounts of play time first.
  4. OK, made some fixes and added some stuff. I'm undecided about the wall. I can't decide if I like the stark all black background better.
  5. I'll try it out and post it. I might add some walls or floor too but I don't want it to get too busy. Originally I had a female prisoner lying at the guys feet but it was too busy and it looked like he was just going to trip over her.
  6. Me too. I think I should make the laser go outside the border like the guy now that I look at it again. That's the part I like best, that the guy is running right out of the box.
  7. I went in a little different direction...
  8. It's http://www.trikaliotis.net/opencbm It's not a hard drive program like 64HDD. It's for transferring .d64 images to actual floppies. I wish I could get 64HDD to work since I bought the CD version for $17 but it needs a FAT formatted drive and I only have NTFS. I tried it with a FAT flash drive and it sort of worked but the transfers would hang up and never fully load into the C64. I haven't given up on it yet, I think I have room in that box for another drive so maybe I'll put a FAT formatted drive in there and see if that helps. I have to look through my spare drives and see if i have something to fit the bill. There is but it requires a serial connection which on this box is already taken up by my SIO2PC connection for my 800XL and APE APE is great, super easy to use and configured itself.
  9. After ordering a CD of 64HDD and not being able to get it to work right I'm trying something else to get some more games for my C64. I downloaded CBM4win and plan on setting it up when I get home tonight from work. Before I do, I was wondering if there is a preferred setting in the PC bios for the LPT port? I have options for One Way, SPP, ECP, EPP. I use Win XP and I don't use that port for anything else if that matters. I read through the website for it but can't find anything about a preferred setting.
  10. I like your box images so far, but shouldn't there be some robots in there somewhere...? Without robots to indicate a man-versus-machine setting, the artwork gives the impression that the game is some kind of Metal Gear clone, which it definately isn't. Just my two cents. There will be robots, as I said, I'm just messing around for now. The robots are easy for me to do, but I'm not very good at making people. Since they are the hard part, I'm trying to get an idea of how I want them to look first. Once I do, I'll put some some robots in.
  11. I got one off eBay last year for $7 shipped.
  12. You're probably right, I'm not knowledgeable in the correct terms for this stuff so I'm probably using the wrong word.
  13. Nope, it's looks like a regular eprom soldered to the board.
  14. Yeah, that's what I think too but I know nothing about this end of things. Bootleg is a better word than pirate so I'm changing the title.
  15. Recently in a box of VCS stuff given to me by a friend of my in-laws, there was an envelope that had two boards in it. The games are Demon Attack and Star Voyager. The guy who gave them to me said his parents had friends at Atari and he got these boards before the games came out. It doesn't make sense obviously since they are Imagic games but I'm guessing he's using Atari as generic for old video game company. The games seem to play just like the regular release so I'm thinking they are probably just pirates or not even that. Here's some pics, let me know what you think.
  16. Hey guys how about something like this for the prisoner cells? This would take up the same room as the current cells.
  17. Interesting points, Jess. My original thought was to do some kind of barred cell graphic for the captured prisoners but the problem is in the size. To do it so that it looks recognizable and could house the running prisoner graphic, I'd have to make them twice as big which just takes up too much screen real estate. We'll have pictures of the graphics in the manual screen explanation so I don't think it will be too much of leap of faith that those are the cells. I'll mess around and see if I can make something fit in the same space but I think making them twice the size will clutter up the screen too much. I'll see what the jury here says about the detail in the robots. I'm biased because I made them and to be perfectly honest, I love how they came out. I wish there was a simpler way to do multicolored sprites on the CV because I think I could make them more detailed If the majority say they are too busy, I'll simplify them but it'll be with a heavy heart
  18. I can't seem to edit my original post so I just want to add to it with: Jimmy Yakapucci brucebidder cosmosiss Loco-san CPUWiz and I recently did a deal too but he's on my old list
  19. Yeah there's one screen in particular where the cannon fires straight down into you when you appear. I guess we could move it over 1 or 2 spaces to make it more fair. PM me the screen locations where the player can appear and I'll go through the screens and move them.
  20. It's just a first swipe at it to get the juices flowing. My first versions are usually silhouette type old horror movie posters. I just dig that style. Which logo do you prefer the 3D one or the "cracked" one? I prefer the cracked one on the right but I might come up with something else based on the title screen version.
  21. The Konami Arcade Classics cart for the DS has Twin bee on it although if I remember right, they call it Rainbow Bell or something like that.
  22. Good call! Dragging it out a second longer would help. I get killed from regeneration a lot too.
