  1. OK, I checked the player sprites and the only ones that don't match up to the Frenzy ones while running are when the player is standing still. I made his feet 1 pixel too long when he's facing left or right so Scott when you get a chance, lop off 1 pixel from his feet when he's standing still. I can send a new DAT if that is confusing.
  2. Nah - I suck worse 22,850. It's the damn vine swinging that kills me every time. I can do it in Jungle Hunt with no problem but the momentum for the swing is so much less in this, I keep coming up short.
  3. Glad you like it! On another note... I have to get to work on the box/manual/labels. I've been lazy about it.
  4. I use a screen capture program at work(the name I can't think of at the moment) that lets me make a movie of anything happening on screen. I brought the movie into After Effects and just went frame by frame putting the pixels into the right spots in ICVGM303, a graphics editor for the CV that I think Daniel Bienvenu came up with. It wasn't captured as an AVI and put directly into the program, I just used the AVI as a reference. Sorry if that wasn't clear in the other post.
  5. I forgot, they are named Killbots. You'd think I'd remember since I made it up I think what Kripto means with the Killbots is that he would prefer it if that a set number appear on screen all at once with no regeneration. So instead of 4 killbots that can regenerate, 8 Killbots right from the start that stay dead like in Berzerk/Frenzy. Personally I really like the regeneration way but let's see how other people feel about it. I think if we went with a set number of Killbots, Hank will have to make an appearance much sooner to keep things more interesting. Also, I have to agree with Scott on the Communicator skip. It's fine in the beginning to skip it but the message between levels(every 5 screens) is cool and a nice breather between levels. And thanks for the pat on the back but all of the stuff I did is just talk without a programmer to make it actually come into being so really: Scott's the man
  6. Interesting, I'll have to look at the sprites for the player again. I pretty much just took an AVI of Frenzy and went through it frame by frame to recreate the running. Maybe I made a mistake somewhere in it. The robot regeneration was added for a few reasons. We found that the game was little too easy when you could just kill all of the robots, destroy the canons and just grab the keys/prisoners with no threat in the room. Even though Heinous Hank will eventually come out after you, we thought it was a little slow with him being the only enemy on screen. Having the Robot Regen also gives this a little something different from Berzerk/Frenzy. For me the hardest screen on Frenzy is the Robot Factory when I can't get a clear shot to stop the machine from building them. I see your point though, let's see what Scott thinks. Being able to skip the communicator might be cool. I don't mind the wait for it but maybe I'm in the minority. I wonder how other folks feel about it? Good? Bad?
  7. Alphabetical by title works for me. It's the easiest way to find stuff since I probably wouldn't remember which company made what half of the time.
  8. The door thing doesn't bother me either way and I think both ways could work but Scott's right, if it bugs people, we'll change it. My original thought on it was to keep the replay value as high as possible by keeping things as random as we could. That's why even though there are 25 rooms (5 to each level), they are chosen in random order for each level so it wouldn't just be a linear experience every time. Any other opinion/suggestions are deeply appreciated by both of us. That doesn't mean all of the suggestions will definitely be implemented but any help in improving the game is welcome.
  9. I'll guess the total price for the buttons to be $14.85 not including shipping costs
  10. I think so, I've never seen an actual Frenzy coin-op in person.
  11. Frenzy was the sequel to Berzerk. While Berzerk was ported to a few different home consoles, I think Colecovision is the only one to get Frenzy. Frenzy plays similar to Berzerk except it has walls you can shoot through, rebounding shot walls and Otto can be killed temporaily. Frantic has all of those extra features too and some new ones. I don't know if you can play NTSC games on a PAL console. You can try it emulated on your computer though.
  12. Well, they may not be expecting to pay you. We do interviews for some of our shows with various hobbyists/experts and we don't pay them to be in the show. For many people, it's a thrill to share their knowledge or be on TV.
  13. Loosely? Play it. It's definitely based on Frenzy but there's other objectives besides killing robots in this. Our idea on this was kind of a Super Frenzy.
  14. I ended up putting side labels from a Brother P-Touch on them and the N64 carts so I could stack/display them easier.
  15. That really made me laugh because I know that guy in the video. Videogame Central used to be called GamesUSA and they had a shop right down the street from me. I'd be in there every weekend looking for stuff so we used to talk. Then one day I go to my buddies annual 4th of July barbeque and there is the Videogame Central guy. As for drugs... yeah that would be my guess.

  18. This is weird! I started playing this emulated in Meka. For the first level I went right and then on the 2nd I went left. As I approached the brick sign to finish the level, I jumped and went past it. The level didn't end. I kept going left and it was like the level restarted but the timer was still down like I had been playing. I got killed soon after so I wasn't able to go through it again to see if it would end when I got to the brick sign again. Anybody else ever experience this?
  19. creepy online elements? Are you referring to thinking she has found a "buddy" and then wants to meet in real life? Keep in mind, I really don't know anything about this game but I am going to look around, google it and what have you but I wanted to see what you guys/gals thought of the game. Yeah, guys trolling for girls or very adult conversations, etc. In a related but OT note, I had a near heart attack when I saw my 16 year old niece's myspace page. I made the mistake of reading the messages her friends sent. They are just as bad as stuff my friends and I send each other. I did make her take her age and location off of it though. That seemed like asking for a freak to come calling.
  20. Some kids are mature enough to keep it in perspective and not get involved with some of the more creepy online elements. 12 seems a bit young for that but I don't know your kid.
  21. The comment section when you scroll down made me laugh "What has nine arms and sucks?" :rolling:
  22. I like a lot of modern stuff but never as much as my retro stuff. Old games are just more fun for me.
  23. I still get a pretty regular supply of Genny/SegaCD/NES/GB games from my local Goodwill too. I go there every week and I'd say I get at least one cart @75% of the time.
