  1. Medieval Mayhem is so damn good, I'm not sure it needs a sequel! The only thing I would suggest would be a boss fight at the end of a regular round. It could be sort of like Breakout but you're trying to hit the dragon while she spits fireballs at you. You'd have to keep from missing your own fireball while dodging getting hit by hers. Once you conquer her, then it moves to the next round.
  2. It looks cool, nice job! I'll have to try the demo at home later
  3. These guys seem to buy it. Notice the "not a prank" in the text. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,144022-c...es/article.html
  4. I'll have to play this one emulated, I've never come across this cart in the wild.
  5. Cost of living varies wildly in the US. I make a good deal more than $4K a month but for where I live, I'm solidly middle class. There's many places where if I had the same money coming in, I'd be called wealthy. Of course if I lived in those places, I wouldn't get paid this much so it's all relative.
  6. And that's why I like your games are better than his Thomas. The enthusiasm for the game and work in making it is readily apparent on every screen.
  7. I don't consider 4K/ month a real salary .. not even close. Do you? Sure, it could be for somebody. I make more than that but you're missing my point anyway. Programming VCS games in 2008 is not a real job and will never be in the future. You can't expect to get paid for it at the same level as a job that's actually in demand by more than niche hobby market. I don't care whether it's fun for you or not it's realistically looking at your situation.
  8. Not for me, my reply would be exactly the same.
  9. It's not 1979. No one is paying you a 'real' salary to program for the VCS with the idea the money will be recouped through millions of sales. Your game is not going to sell millions. Realistically you'll sell them all for between $50-$75 each so price it in that range. You can't expect a real salary for a niche hobby. If that's not your worth your time, don't do it. It wouldn't break my heart not to play your game. There's tons of homebrews that are priced fairly for the community that many of us would be happy to support instead.
  10. Montezuma's Revenge is a great game. I have it on the CV, 5200 and GBC with my fav being the CV version. The GBC version has updated graphics and new bad guys but it's also painfully difficult. The CV and 5200 versions are pretty much the same but I like the CV super action sticks so it gets my nod over the 5200. I have never played the SMS one but I'd like to pick it up some day.
  11. I only have to squint on some of the card games in Touchmaster. I guess my vision is still pretty good while everything else is rapidly deteriorating
  12. I think if I had to commute by train I would play my DS more as well. I have a 45 min commute, but I have to drive My DS usually gets played when I'm traveling. I carry it with me just about everywhere I go though, just in case I actually had to only start playing it one way because my hands were hurting from the computer all day and 2 DS sessions on the train. Now I read on the way in and DS on the way home.
  13. There's nothing wrong with you. My brothers annoy me 95% of the time whether we're discussing old games, politics, movies or anything else. That's just the way it is in families sometimes.
  14. My DS gets the most play of anything I have for two reasons: 1. It has some super good games 2. I play it on the ride home from work on the train so it's gets an hour daily by default.
  15. 115,650 I have to recharge my camera batteries so I can take pictures again.
  16. Probably because by the time the VCS carts were being programmed many people already had a stand alone Pong unit gathering dust on top of the TV. Why spend the money on a cart for a game many people already have and grown tired of?
  17. They are similar in size to a CV cart but the different companies had some varying case designs. Do a Google search for "C64 cartridge" and you'll see a bunch of different styles. On a related note, I just ordered a XE1541 cable adapter and 64HDD so when they arrive, my C64 is going to be getting some HEAVY play time
  18. The floating eggs is what makes me not like the VCS Joust as much as the versions that behave like the arcade. It never made sense to me that the eggs would defy gravity like that. I'm assuming it has something to do with programming limitations but I'd still rather play the 5200/7800 versions because of it.
  19. VCS Spider-Man is great, I played it all the time as a kid and still fire it up every once in a while.
  20. Solar Fox is the only one I can think of.
  21. I don't have the 5200 cart but I love the Colecovision version. Are there any major differences in the two?
  22. Medieval Mayhem has a beautiful animated dragon and victory march animation so that's up there for me. A-VCS-tec Challenge has some nice graphics too.
  23. Has anyone else noticed that The Beast from Advance Wars: Days of Ruin looks like Randy "the Macho Man" Savage?
