I bought a DS, but eventually gave it to the kids, since with age, squinting at a small screen is starting to take its toll.. I mainly play on the 360 and occasionally the Wii..I only have to squint on some of the card games in Touchmaster. I guess my vision is still pretty good while everything else is rapidly deteriorating

My DS gets the most play of anything I have for two reasons:1. It has some super good games
2. I play it on the ride home from work on the train so it's gets an hour daily by default.
I think if I had to commute by train I would play my DS more as well. I have a 45 min commute, but I have to drive

My DS usually gets played when I'm traveling. I carry it with me just about everywhere I go though, just in case

I actually had to only start playing it one way because my hands were hurting from the computer all day and 2 DS sessions on the train. Now I read on the way in and DS on the way home.

There's nothing wrong with you. My brothers annoy me 95% of the time whether we're discussing old games, politics, movies or anything else. That's just the way it is in families sometimes.

Probably because by the time the VCS carts were being programmed many people already had a stand alone Pong unit gathering dust on top of the TV. Why spend the money on a cart for a game many people already have and grown tired of?
-
They are similar in size to a CV cart but the different companies had some varying case designs. Do a Google search for "C64 cartridge" and you'll see a bunch of different styles.
On a related note, I just ordered a XE1541 cable adapter and 64HDD so when they arrive, my C64 is going to be getting some HEAVY play time

JOUST!!!!It is miles better than the arcade and the eggs actually FLOAT.
WP
The floating eggs is what makes me not like the VCS Joust as much as the versions that behave like the arcade. It never made sense to me that the eggs would defy gravity like that. I'm assuming it has something to do with programming limitations but I'd still rather play the 5200/7800 versions because of it.

VCS Spider-Man is great, I played it all the time as a kid and still fire it up every once in a while.

69,675 I'm out of practice on this game!

Solar Fox is the only one I can think of.

zenji is a great 5200 game imho. any fans of this original puzzler?I don't have the 5200 cart but I love the Colecovision version. Are there any major differences in the two?

What is the most visually beautiful Atari 2600 game?Which visual display really shows off what can be done with the system by an artistic programmer?
Medieval Mayhem has a beautiful animated dragon and victory march animation so that's up there for me.
A-VCS-tec Challenge has some nice graphics too.

Has anyone else noticed that The Beast from Advance Wars: Days of Ruin looks like Randy "the Macho Man" Savage?

Beautiful job!

I suck at this game but I can't help but kind of like it. The CV version is definitely better than the 5200 version but neither is a great game. What's kind of dumb about it is that you can score more for running around in circles than you can for completing the level quickly. I doubt I'll get any more games in this week, I'm getting crushed at work.

I've seen Atari 30th for the DC and I've thought about grabbing it.It's pretty good although Gravitar is pretty much unplayable due to the screen zoom. Even if you zoom all the way in, everything is really tiny on screen. I guess if you sat 1 ft away from the screen it would be playable. I got it for $5 a couple of years ago, the rest of the games on it are well done.

ColecoI've always wondered what the industry would be like if they had come out with a Colecovision II instead of the ADAM. Maybe nothing would have changed and the crash still would have happened but maybe it would have kept the console market alive. Coleco seemed like the company most likely to lead the way into newer and more powerful consoles. If they had done it the game industry would have been American led as opposed to Japanese led and that could have changed everything.
Quoted for complete agreement.

What do you think of Ben Heck's solution? It's easy and cheap, and seems to work quite well for me.I'd pick VGA over HDMI, BTW.
5-11under
It looks pretty easy, even for me who's no expert at this. I've actually been delaying doing it because my CV is having a controller problem. I think I need to replace the ICs for the controllers but I'm a little nervous about doing it and possibly screwing up my CV completely. As it is, if I keep the Roller hooked up all of the time, the controllers work fine so I've just been doing that. Maybe I'll take a shot at the video mod this weekend.

HDMI seems like overkill for a CV so I say VGA. What I'd much rather see than either of those is a cheaper and easier composite solution.

5200 Super Breakout is a good game although I still prefer using paddles on the VCS version.
5200 SI is a good game too but I think much of the negative comments comes from it's straying from the arcade SI. I think it's further from the coin-op version than the VCS SI. If they had an option where you could play a balls-on accurate arcade port or the new "enhanced" version(like they do with modern compilations), I think it would be more warmly received. I like to play 5200 SI with the trakball just for a different play dynamic.

http://www.mobygames.com/game/smurf-rescue...tle/screenshotsIt comes in very useful with certain games.
Along those same lines, does anybody else sometimes play the same game across a bunch of platforms in one sitting just to experience the differences? I'll get in the mood to play something like Centipede on the 5200 and then end up playing it on the 5200, CV, 7800, VCS, DC Atari Anniversary, etc.

Everything mentioned is good and I'll add:
Space Channel Five
Expendable
Mars Matrix
Mr. Driller
Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Pointing out that you're being an elitist on a high horse when you are in fact doing just that could be called stating the obvious but I'd hardly call it braindead.
What was so constructive in this that we should have taken your advice?
This site is probably the last place you're goign to "learn things" about anything other than Atari. I've seen a very select few here that are capable of discussing anything serious in a remotely intelligent manner. If only a select few are allowed in to the P&R forum (which is obviously the case), then the diversity of opinion is cut down to nothing and the forum becomes pointless as a venue for "learning things". So if I had to venture a guess, I'd wager that it's more of a groupthink forum than a debate forum. Either way, I have no interest.1. You call most of the community dumb.
2. You allude to P&R being some kind of private club but anybody can ask to be let in. Plenty of different opinions fly around even among the people who generally agree, so this groupthink you mention is just plain untrue. Also, even if I agree with somebody on something, they still might post something I didn't know about a topic which is in fact learning.
So, again what was constructive in your post?
The last thing I'll mention is this although it's not aimed solely at you. Almost everybody who bitches about P&R being something bad doesn't actually participate in any of the threads. How can anyone take that seriously?

Montezuma's Revenge?
in Classic Console Discussion

Montezuma's Revenge is a great game. I have it on the CV, 5200 and GBC with my fav being the CV version. The GBC version has updated graphics and new bad guys but it's also painfully difficult. The CV and 5200 versions are pretty much the same but I like the CV super action sticks so it gets my nod over the 5200. I have never played the SMS one but I'd like to pick it up some day.
