This site is probably the last place you're goign to "learn things" about anything other than Atari. I've seen a very select few here that are capable of discussing anything serious in a remotely intelligent manner. If only a select few are allowed in to the P&R forum (which is obviously the case), then the diversity of opinion is cut down to nothing and the forum becomes pointless as a venue for "learning things". So if I had to venture a guess, I'd wager that it's more of a groupthink forum than a debate forum. Either way, I have no interest.Careful you don't fall of that high horse buddy.

I like the VCS version but I LOVE the CV version. I always liked RnR in the arcade so when it came out on the CV, I was jonesin' to bring it home. It still gets a lot of play today.

The 7800. I just can't get past its sound. The games are good, graphically and play-wise. But there's nothing that I know of that's only available on the 7800, so I'd rather play the less graphically beautiful 8-bit versions of games and have better sound. Is there an 8bit version of Food Fight?

Thanks, I thought it was 7800 only

I had a Jaguar for a while but I just couldn't get into the games. I liked a couple like Iron Solder and Tempest but that's it. I sold mine a while ago in my annual spring cleaning of stuff I don't play anymore. About the only thing I really liked about it was the controller.

I liked them all with StarFox 64 and the SNES one being my favs.

I've tried everything I have but if after a few games I'm not interested, it will probably sit on the shelf for a long while before I give it another go.

I go through waves with consoles. I'll get into a certain console and games for a couple of weeks and then switch to something else. Even so, I never get to all of the games I have and don't want to since over the years I've picked up some really crappy games on all of my systems. No point in playing something that stinks when there's something good right next to it on the shelf. About the only constant use ones are the DS, VCS and CV.

I have Supercade and Arcade Fever. Supercade is just beautiful but it really does belong on a coffee table because nobody wants to lug that thing around.

Hey!As I'm working on some Intellivision stuff (not a new game sorry ^^) I was searching for a Font which is used for the name of the game on the Box. I thought it is Arial Black, but it's not nearly the same.
Does anyone have any clue or a hint of a font which nearly look like the one they used on the boxes?
It looks like Helvetica Neue 95 Black. you have to manually adjust the kerning on each letter though to get it to look like the INTV boxes. Here's Nightstalker in that font over the box graphic.

So c'mon somebody help out a moron who can't figure out these things. How do I see the hidden level and what's the clear screen cheat?Anyone who would openly ask such a thing should be paddled.
Right.Paddled.
Thanks! -
I have to say after playing GM a lot since I got it, the frustration level has gone WAY down. It' still a difficult game, but it doesn't feel " near impossible" anymore.
It's a good thing it has the continue though.

I've been playing Toyshop Trouble for a year now at least a couple of times a week. It's a great game but I can't seem to get past Dec. 24th. That's OK but I'm really curious about the hidden screen and in one of the other threads I read about a clear screen cheat.

Ramones =
Even my teenage sons love them.
I saw them three times during the eighties, they're my second most seen band. Of course my #1 seen act is Iggy Pop, with and without the Stooges. I've seen him eight times!

I saw the Ramones about 12-15 times over the years. I can't remember the exact number. There were quite a few years there where you could see them 3-4 times in NY-LI area in the same year.
I never saw the Stooges but man, I wish I had.

You can even see the tops of the A and G letters if you look closely.Am I a little blind or are your eyes that good???
Look in the upper right. The cart cube is turned counterclockwise from the manual cover cube.

Air Fortress on the NES. I got it for a buck at a flea market and figured it was just another generic side shooter but it's not that at all. It's a little of that, a little Metroid-like exploration and overall just completely kick butt.
Hunchy II on the VCS. I figured it would be OK platformer, now it's my 2nd fav homebrew of all time.

It just don't get any nerdier than this thread right here folks. So says the Journey fan!
You're right though.

There are Breakout machines coming out this summer too. They also allow you to play Breakout for a bonus award.
Has anybody else played the Pac-Man slots that came out a couple of years ago? They were OK, you didn't get to play Pac-Man, they were just themed the same. Konami also makes a lot of slots that you can find around Vegas now. They have nothing to do with Konami video games but they are decent slots to play.
Vegas is my favorite place on Earth. I'm planning my yearly pilgrimage now actually.

This just my personal opinion but the only game that is good and costs over $25 in the VCS homebrews is sold out at the moment.

The same thing will happen with the Wii remote. That doesn't make anybody right or wrong, it's just a personal preference formed by what you got used to.I seriusly doubt this. The controllers only works especially well with a small number of games. This explains why games like Wii Sports and Wii Play are the top selling Wii software even now. Most people are buying the Wii for those two games. They feel very natural when using the Wii-Mote. Most other games do not. The Wii-Mote isn't going to take the place of a good old hand held controller.
I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about kids who start out with a Wii. They have no habit to break, you do. A 4 year old kid who has only used a Wiimote to play games and continues to do so for 3-4(maybe more) years is going to feel plenty natural using it for pretty much any game. You don't feel natural doing it because you have 20+ years of joysticks and gamepads. It's not the same thing.
-
I can't help but compare the problems some people have with the Wii remotes to the problem some people had with gamepads back in the NES days. Lots of people still don't like gamepads and prefer a joystick. It's the same thing for remote vs. regular controller. The thing is, a whole generation of kids grew up using the NES pads and can't get comfortable with joystick. The same thing will happen with the Wii remote. That doesn't make anybody right or wrong, it's just a personal preference formed by what you got used to.

For calling Al out in public like this I have some suggestions but it's probably best if I keep them to myself.

Geez - the personal subjective opinions being expressed as fact are really ripe in this thread. The whole point of having forums is to express personal opinions. If you want facts, you should go to a more solid information source such as a search engine or a wikipedia.
I don't want facts. It would be nice to just have people with nettiquette sometimes to avoid flame wars.
There's a difference between, "I only liked Aerosmith's music in the 1970s" compared to "everything they did after 1980 was a pile of crap"
Both say the same thing, but one is significantly ruder than the other.
I don't much want to drag this out but I think what you see as rude, many people see as casual. While it's true most of us don't know each other in real life, we do "know" each other on here so I don't think the casual expression of the opinions is out of line. I occasionally read and post on a Las Vegas message board where everybody is so formal and so concerned with not stepping on toes that the discussions are really boring most of the time. A casual community like AA is much more fun and in the end, I think we're tighter because of it.

I posted a thread some time back about Power Off! I was rather disappointed by the game, but didn't want to give a bad review if it turned out I was "missing something". The game concept is not bad, but it's too far down the "frustrating vs. fun" continuum. I would probably like it better if the control response on the ladders was improved. A fast-forward function would probably also be useful (on some levels, it's necessary to wait quite a while before robots get in the right positions).I should probably just find the thread and post the review. Not sure quite what rating to give, though. The game is technically competent, though uninspired, and I can reasonably imagine that some other people might not have the same difficulties with control response as I do.
Perhaps the best approach would be to write reviews to indicate who would like the game and who wouldn't. Then people could decide what game will best suit their tastes.
Power Off! is actually a good illustration of why honest reviews are needed. I gave it a 5 because I love the game. I didn't find the controls to be lacking and I really enjoy the overall execution. I'm not saying you're wrong in your assessment, I'm saying it would be good if what you said here is available in the store so potential buyers can make up their own minds. It sounds to me like you would give it about a 3. It's better than some games and not as good as others.

Hmmm... sinister joke, I like that!
As for the high horse, since you're claiming only a select few here are bright enough to discuss anything, it seems pretty accurate to me. But then again obviously myself and most others here pale to your superior intellect and skills in debate.
