  1. I really like Jackal and City Connection on MAME with my Sidewinder gamepad.
  2. Definetely try the eraser and alcohol on the CV carts. I have found that for some unknown reason my CV carts get more cruddy then my other other carts for other systems. Same thing for the Activision carts, they should definetely work in the expansion module. It would probably help to clean the modules contacts and the CV's contacts too.
  3. I haven't had any luck on the Nintendo fonts either but if anybody is interested, here's some other videogame fonts. Inside the Zip is Namco's font, the Gamecube font, a vectrex type font and Imagic's font.
  4. Wasn't there a home version for one of the more obscure consoles? Emerson Arcadia? Bally maybe?
  5. Well that's why I mention Illustrator in my last post. If they are vector based Illustrator .AI (or.EPS) files they will resize and print perfectly clear. If they are rasterized Photoshop files they probably won't print clearly if enlarged to poster size..
  6. I have one of these too that came with a 5200 I won in an auction. Mine appears to be homemade though. At first I thought, "GREAT! I can use VCS sticks!" No such luck for me. It didn't work.
  7. Dude, you are far from being a jerk because of a mistake like that.
  8. If they are Illustrator files it should be easy as pie.
  9. You can just unzip them and drop them in the font folder. Make sure Photoshop isn't open when you do it though. If it is they won't appear until you close PS and reopen.
  10. Not that I particularly care or want to argue but there is no clear implication of 2 seperate cart releases in the statement "2600 yes, 5200 no, 7800 yes". That statement as written would be true of any 2600 game that works in the 7800. You're probably right about 2 separate releases, but I wouldn't say that was completely clear from the post.
  11. Thanks I'll check that out next time I'm in the electronics shop.
  12. Hmmm... Could it be that the 2600 version can also be played on the 7800 but there is no seperate 7800 cart? Edit: I forgot to add my guess. If the above hypothesis is correct, could it be Superman?
  13. I tried to find spring loaded pots but I know nothing about what values the originals pots are so I wasn't sure what to look for in new spring loaded ones.
  14. I've always just cleaned them repeatedly with alcohol on a q-tip. Sometimes you have to do it 2 or 3 times but it's always worked for me.
  15. I've been trying to build something similar to the prototype for a few months now. I only work on it on and off so the progress is real slow. Basically I added 2 springs per side of the white plastic part inside of a 5200 stick and anchored them to the inside edges of the joystick. When you push in any direction, the springs push it back to center. It usually works for a couple of games and then the springs pop out all over the place. It's pretty comical actually. I need to rework the spring mountings and play around with different tension springs to make the feel a little better. I'll get there eventually. When I do I'll post some pics. I'd like to see somebody with some real engineering skill adapt the PC joystick self center system with the push-pull springs on the pot itself like a Gravis stick.
  16. I'm not kidding. I've seen the game in stores but didn't pick it up so I didn't know it was for the gun.
  17. I can see the point of being wary of 0 feedback bidders but weren't we all zero feedback bidders at least once?
  18. I didn't know Confidential Mission used it. I'll have to look for that too
  19. I just got the MadCatz gun at Funcoland for US$12.99 usedand House of the Dead II for $8.99. This weekend I'm picking up Death Crimson and the Sega Smash Pack. I love lightgun games. The Madcatz gun is pretty good. HOTDII is super hard without auto reload. Just after Xmas I got a gun, Lethal Enforcers I &II and Mad Dog McCree for the Sega CD. I want to find the pink 2nd player gun now.
  20. I'd like to see cheaper GBA games too but I doubt it will happen. Cartidges are more expensive to produce, and there's still a lot of production that goes into the games even if they are simpler then console games. I think my wife said it best: Gameboy games seem like they should be cheaper because they are physically so small but they are still videogames so the price sticks. I have about 6 GBA games but I just got it for Xmas and 2 of them are used.
  21. You guys must have some super powerful noses. I have never noticed anything but a slightly mildewy oder from stuff that was in people's basements.
  22. I like pretty much all of the Atari games although I have to admit compared to other fighters, Primal Rage isn't very good.
  23. Not at all! CPK is actually a pretty good Pitfall derivative. And I agree about Oil's Well - it does indeed kick ass.
  24. Good question. I always figured they reused some code tricks as it would seem stupid to start from scratch every time. I also kind of assume they had some kind of "Art Director" for what the games would look like as far as color schemes, fonts, etc. I imagine they must have because these guys all came from Atari yet none tof the Atri made games look like that. Same goes for Imagic titles. Very similar look and feel in all of their games. Whatever it was, they were easily the best game programmers (at the time) for the VCS.
  25. I am amazed you guys find these things. I have never even found anything Atari (not even Combat) in my local Goodwill. Are you the same guys who get 6 card 21's at the Blackjack table?
