I'm joeybastard no matter where I go.

Well Jack did make some bad decisions but we should all remember that we have hindsight on the matter, and hindsight is 20/20. If you just bought a company hemorraging (sp?) money, you'd make drastic changes too. While I mourn the terrible decision not to release the 7800 when it was ready, it probably seemed somewhat reasonable at the time. This was the middle of the big crash after all.

This is from the 2600 Rarity Guide here on AA: "The rarity scale is a general indicator of easy or difficult it is to come across a game. The scale starts at 1 (very easy to find) and finishes at 10 (nearly impossible to locate). Thanks to auction sites such as eBay, even extremely rare games come up for auction frequently enough, but these often command a fairly high price depending on the rarity." So basically, condition of the cart, box or manual isn't the main indicator of rarity. Quadrun is rare regardless of the label condition. Of course it's worth more if you have a nice label, box, etc. Hope this helps

Thanks for this! It's really cool and way easier to use. Now let's hope the community uses this wisely and makes some truly cool hacks to the classics. Basically that's a nice way of saying, "WE HAVE ENOUGH PAC-MAN AND SPACE INVADERS HACKS - DO SOMETHING ELSE!" This is like an early Xmas present

I think this sounds great! While I wouldn't condone any of these things in real life, I'll definetely play the game. In fact I encourage everybody out there to only do horrible things in video games and not in real life. It's only a VCS game, as Sgt. Hulka once said,"Lighten up, Francis."

joeybastard replied to Brad2600's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Specs: 2600 CPU: 6507 RAM: 128 Bytes, in VLSI ROM: 4K max Cpu Clock: 1.19 MHz Graphics Clock: 1.19 MHz Slot Config: Rom access only CPU Avail: less than 50% Intellivision CPU: GI 16 bit microprocessor Memory: 7K internal ROM, RAM and I/O structures, remaining 64k address space available for external programs. Controls: 12 button numberic key pad, four action keys, 16 direction disk Sound: Sound generator capable of 3 part harmony with programmable ASDR envelopes. Color: 16 Resolution: 192v x 160h pixels Colecovison Resolution: 256 x 192 CPU: Z-80A Bits: 8 Speed: 3.58 MHz RAM: 8K Video RAM: 16K (8x4116) Video Display Processor: Texas Instruments TMS9928A Sprites: 32 Colors: 16 Sound: Texas Instruments SN76489AN; 3 tone channels, 1 noise Cartridge ROM: 8K/16K/24K/32K As for playabilty, all 3 are fun. While my heart belongs to the 2600, if you judge playabilty of the system by the number of good games vs the number of games released, I find the CV to be the most playable. -
Quoting myself here I did a little more research and found out the CD32 was built in the Philippines, hence the reason why even though Commodore/Amiga was American, the units couldn't be brought to the US due to the patent infringement mentioned above. In fact the Philippine Gov't seized the warehouse for lack of payment on the factory. This site has more info: http://amiga.emugaming.com/cd32.html

Thanks, I actually just read a little further into tha PDF somebody mentioned before and it tells you how to use a diassembler and then note the address' that end in .byte which should make it easier.

I've used SHOWGFX and EDITGFX to try and hack some roms but I have a hard time with it. Is there some easier way to figure out which rows of X's represent which graphic element of the game? I basically stare at the chains and try to find stuff but with varying degress of success. Any body know a secret to this or is there an address that graphics definetely start or end at?

I thought the Xbox commercials for DOA3 were funny. They had a bunch of geeks talking about the various female characters in the game. It was kind of coyly saying, "Hey geeks you can masterbate to this!" The Sega commercial that was in the style of the Ginsu knives commercial was the best videogame spot ever.

If I was in high school, I'd be trying to pick up girls not playing PS2. I love videogames and all but with all of the h.s. cuties around at a party...

Moon Patrol is a super good conversion. Especially the music

What's Lord of the Dungeon? I've never heard of it.

I'm glad there's a period in the name of this thread or it would be really gross.

I got one of those type stores also called GamesUSA. About the same prices as you mentioned. The good thing is, even the rarer games are about $4 so sometimes I find a good deal. They have 7800's refurbished with a joypad controller and 1 game for $44.99. A little steep for my taste.

Oh man dissing the Johnny Ramone-like stance of my avatar? For shame...

Lasar Gates is really good and pretty damn hard too. I like Subterranea and Planet Patrol too. Especially the change from day into night on Planet Patrol.

I think the Activision games look better because it was a smaller group of programmers actually trying to make better games. Atari being a much larger corporation had a bureaucracy (sp?) that probably watered things down, was a slave to marketing idiots and was generally detrimental to game development. Look at the ET/Pac-Man thing. Games ruined by corporate johnnies making ridiculous deadlines. And flicker doesn't bother me too much either.

Yeah I forgot Mountain King. I was the only one of my friends to have it when I was a kid but everybody got it after playing it at my house.

Underrated but kickass? Marauder Circus Fast Food Jawbreaker - I love this game and nobody ever mentions it! Frankenstein

I can't believe the SMS could handle any of these games. They must be incredibly crippled versions.

I would bet that nobody promoting the contest has even thought about how to hook a VCS to that TV. Look how many newbie questions about this the AA forums get.

Thoughts on the 2003 year of gaming?
joeybastard replied to JagMX's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I agree with everything you said Jag. I think we're also going to see a 2600 homebrew that absolutely astounds the entire community with graphics, sound and gameplay. Look how great the current ones have been and it will get even better. Looking further past 2003 I think the GC is the last console for Nintendo. Look at how small the GC is, in 2 years they'll be turning it into a handheld. They already control the handheld market and I think that will be the next step. -
Why yes... yes I do.
