  1. That's exactly why I don't use it and keep a VCS hooked up too.
  2. It also goes without about half of the fun of the AW series. Panzer Tactics is a decent game but it's MUCH more involved than any of the AW games which makes it feel like a chore sometimes. I never found the Advance War games to feel like homework but PT definitely does in spots. I know some folks might prefer a more complicated, supposedly "deeper" game but on a portable, I prefer something like AW.
  3. Forgot to update last night! The holiday made me think it was Monday not Tuesday. Oh well On to Bump N Jump!
  4. I've been burned by the online overpay a couple of times. I don't buy on ebay too often anymore. I thought the thrifts near me had dried up but on Saturday I decided to take a peek at the local Goodwill. I walked in to a pile of games, nothing over $1.99! There were a ton of PS1 games too but nothing that interested me. I picked up: NES Bigfoot (it's awful) Crystalis (pretty good so far) Twin Cobra (decent) Sega CD AH3 Thunderstrike (decent) Formula One: Beyond the Limit (should be called beyond unplayable, just awful) LoadStar: The Legend of Tully Bodine (pretty bad but funny in it's badness) Slipheed (I like it so far) Genesis Todd's Adventures in Slime World (kind of sucks so far but I'll give it another shot) Add that to the 6 switch VCS and pile of commons somebody gave me for free and January is really shaping up for retro stuff found in the wild.
  5. Sunshine is a decent game. If it wasn't Mario, I think people would like it better but when you immediately compare it to how great most of the other Super Mario games are, it seems lacking. On it's own, it's a pretty good game just not great.
  6. While I'd like to be able to skip the tutorials, I do find some of them helpful when there are new weapon types. It's just quicker to learn the pros and cons of the unit that way. I'm definitely buying this. The Advance Wars Series are the greatest portable games of all time.
  7. here's everything on there (borrowed from Wiki). Some have different names but I put the equivalent in parenthesis) Card games: Old Maid, Spit, I Doubt It(Bullshit!), Sevens, Memory, Pig, Blackjack, Hearts, President(Asshole), Rummy, Seven Bridge, Last Card, Last Card Plus(Uno), Five Card Draw, Texas hold 'em, Nap, Spades and Contract Bridge. Board games: Chinese checkers, Checkers, Dots and Boxes, Hasami shogi, Turncoat(Reversi), Connect Five, Grid Attack(Battleship), Backgammon, Chess, Shogi, Field Tactics and Ludo(Parcheesi). Variety games: Soda Shake, Dominoes, Koi-Koi and Word Balloon(hang man) Action games: Bowling, Darts, Billiards, Balance(sort of a reverse Jenga) and Takeover(sort of like shuffleboard) Single player games: Solitaire, Escape(Jammed or Crazy Valet) and Mahjong solitaire
  8. I bought my wife Clubhouse Games for the DS and I play it a lot too because I think it's a great collection. My question is about the player names. Right now it's set for my wife and I usually just play under her name but I was wondering if you can have multiple names with an individual save? The book doesn't seem to mention it and I don't want her to lose her saves if I change the name and start playing. So can Clubhouse games have multiple user accounts?
  9. So am I the only guy with a flash cart who isn't stealing software? Mine actually has homebrews and some EMUs for long dead systems on it.
  10. I think you mean Major League Baseball. WS MLB Baseball was made for the ECS, MLB was a regular INTV game.
  11. Blah, I wish we were doing Q*bert's Qubes instead it's a much more interesting game.
  12. Get Clubhouse Games too. It's an amazing collection of card/puzzle/board games with a bowling and darts game tossed in. It alone is worth buying a DS for IMHO.
  13. I like Bowling and Space Jockey. Does that make me some kind of bisexual?
  14. Ugghhh I have Psycho Circus on the DC but I find it totally unplayable. No love for it other than the curiosity value of being Kiss related.
  15. Urban Champion on the NES. I know it stinks, but I love it. Surround on the VCS. Everybody else gets bored after 1 game but I dig it. I even have fun making pixel pictures with the video graffiti setting.
  16. Hey you stopped to type that! Get back to work! He didn't stop. You can learn to do all kinds of things without your hands or while your hands are doing other things: AtariAge member? Indeed! Hey that's from Viva Variety! That show was great!
  17. Hey you stopped to type that! Get back to work!
  18. My only complaint about this game is the background color. I wish it were black. Otherwise, it's a great game, one of my fav homebrews.
  19. All Konami games? That seems weird to hate EVERY game from a company. Especially a company that has made so many [email protected] games as Konami! My most disliked game is probably Pick-Axe Pete on the O2. Not because it's more awful than many other games, but because everybody keeps telling me it's good. It's not good. It may be good for the O2 but that's because most O2 games suck.
  20. Nice review! I've been waiting for a decent version of coin-op Tron for a looooooong time. I thought the movie was awful but I always loved the game. As a kid I kept expecting a home port for the INTV since Mattel had the rights but no go.
  21. No argument there, the Sonic games are an audio/visual treat but I'm one of those guys who couldn't care what the graphics/sounds are if the gameplay is lacking. To be fair to SMB, it is on the 8 bit NES while the Sonic games are on the Genny so I'd hope that the Sonic games would look/sound better with extra horsepower under the hood.
  22. I only scanned through these 5 pages but has any homebrewer actually programmed anything to run on this thing?
