Did you love the first game you got for your 2600?
joeybastard replied to Godzilla's topic in Atari 2600
The first two were Combat and Surround. They were the only two for a long time but I loved them both and still do. -
IMHO, Combat is one of the greatest 2 player video game experiences of all time.

Best game music theme?
joeybastard replied to OldSchoolRetroGamer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I've always liked the music in Mega Man 2 on the NES. I like the old Jungle Hunt theme too. For some reason it reminds me of the Doors "Land Ho!" -
The truth about SMURFS?
joeybastard commented on Random Terrain's blog entry in Random Terrain's Tetraternarium
You know if we post that in enough places, that can become a new urban legend. You'll get your own Snopes page and everything! -
I only played it with the crappy buttons and wasn't impressed. It probably wasn't a fair comparison though since SFII was already out and was(and still is) my fav fighter.

That was why Ken made the hacked version of 7800 Centipede to use the trackball in trackball mode. Right but if we're talking out of the box, original carts, the 7800 doesn't do it.
-
But it doesn't have variable speed on the 7800 or 2600 version of Centipede. In the arcade and on the 5200, the faster you spin the ball, the quicker you move. That's why the 5200 version is best, it replicates the arcade control scheme much more accurately.

5200 version is better by far and IMHO is the best home version of all time when played with a trakball. It plays better, sounds better and I think looks better than the 7800 version. 7800 Centipede is still a good game but the 5200 version is just better. I like the CV version too but I wish it could use the roller controller correctly. The graphics aren't as good as the 5200 or the 7800 version but I like the gameplay on the CV version a lot.

I use cheapo Target glue sticks that are like 3 for 2 bucks. They work fine, no mess and seems to hold up well. The secret to gluing anything is cleaning the surfaces first.

I get the 99% stuff from Target for like $1.29. I have the spray stuff for some other projects but I don't usually use that on carts.

Missile command champion in Chuck
joeybastard replied to S1500's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My wife and I enjoy Chuck. The premise is ridiculous but it's funny most of the time and the chick agent is very easy on the eyes. I also like that while it has a story arc that continues from episode to episode, you can watch just one as a separate entity and have it make sense. I can't get into serialized shows where if you miss one episode, you're Lost* for the rest of the season. The Missile Command episode had it's moments although it wan't as good as some of the other ones. I knew watching it everybody here would groan at the inaccuracy of Atari history. I told my wife while it was on, I bet if I sign on to AA right now somebody is yelling in all caps, "ATARI WASN'T A JAPANESE COMPANY!" *That's right, the pun is intended dammit. -
Intellivision II and Coleco brand games
joeybastard replied to Skylark68's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
NICE! Glad to see somebody recognized All American If you like AA, you should check out Five Guys hamburgers in Levittown too. It's a different kind of burger but they are as good as All American in their own way. -
I have to disagree. A women simulating fellatio is always the best part of any video. That song is awful although I did like it better than the original Billy Joel one.

Which Atari 2600 Games Have the Best Title Screens?
joeybastard replied to Random Terrain's topic in Atari 2600
When I was a kid I was impressed with the ET head on the title screen for ET, now I think anything with Paul Slocum music is pretty great, particularly Thrust+ Platinum. Still, nothing impressed me back in the day like the Sylvestor Stallone open to Rocky Battles the Champ on the CV. I still think that looks cool. -
That's the ticket, thanks!

Proof that video games are bad for you
joeybastard replied to Random Terrain's topic in Classic Console Discussion
From the looks of that video it made people's skin turn purple too. -
Does anybody have a scan or just the text for the Imagic INTV game White Water? I picked it up with Tropical Trouble, Loco Motion, Bump N Jump and The Dreadnaught Factor over the weekend at a flea market. I can figure how to play it for the most part but I'm really looking for a description of the different game options. I poked around the net, but didn't find the manual for it.

Field Commander Vs AW: Days of Ruin
joeybastard replied to Gabriel's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I have never been even remotely disappointed by any of the Advance Wars games. They get my vote for greatest handheld series of all time. -
What are your favourite Atari 2600 sound effects?
joeybastard replied to Supermarket's topic in Atari 2600
I'll second the Tunnel Runner Zot music and add the "whoosh' in Demon Attack when the Demons appear. -
That's a great box. He looks like a crazy child molester on that box.

Since the Dreamcast still has better games than the current gen IMHO, I would seriously consider a new Sega console.
