It depends on the switch but most of the ones I've used for various projects have some kind of mounting scheme. Either a threaded shaft with a nut or a face plate with pressure tabs or some just have screw holes. Gluing it would just make it a pain to change out in the future if it goes bad. For a CV power switch, I'd look for one that would just be held in place by the contacts themselves and had a black faceplate.

What's the Worst Game You Have Ever Played?
joeybastard replied to Freakin' Duck's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I don't feel like re-reading this thread so if somebody mentioned this - sorry. I forgot to mention this one in my other post: White Men Can't Jump for the Jaguar. That is easily in my top 3 all time worst games I have ever played. -
I don't mind the CV version, it's not my favorite game, but the VCS one is terrible.

Garage sales are my main source of games these days. I've done pretty well over the years and never paid more than $10 for a console at one. For a while there it was the best source of N64 games. i tripled the amount of N64 carts I had one prolific weekend two summers ago for about a buck a cart.

I'm an amateur but I'm going to guess no because the 5v and 12v lines need to be separated. I'm pretty sure a single throw wouldn't have the proper contacts for this.

640 M is really too little to work well with editing. It's doable but you're going to crash and hang up often with that little. Get at least a gig and 2 gigs would be better. It also helps if you have a separate dedicated and defragged drive(7200 RPM) to work from although if it's a laptop, I guess that would have to be an external for you. I work from a few USB 2and some firewire externals for the HD content I do and they work just fine. They should absolutely fly for web size video.

Athena on the NES. It's got terrible graphics, flickers all over the place, it doesn't make sense and is uber-repetitive crap. And I play it all of the time.

Yup Virtua Cop 2 on the Sega Smash Hits disk supports the lightgun too. -

Sea Hunt sucks but it's not that hard to time the shark and actually get in the water/swim around. Once you get it, it still sucks but there's some minute level of play there. I'd say it's in the top 5 worst games at least. In Karate on the VCS, I still can't tell if at any point I'm controlling anything on screen. I press the button, move the joystick around, switch joysticks, flip every switch and nothing seems affected on screen. The terribly designed figures move but it doesn't seem to be in concert with the controller. -

I wouldn't say Halo was the worst game I ever played but I didn't think it was anything special either. It's one of those games that other people seem to love and I find to be mediocre at best. And I've played WAY more than 5 games in life. Different people like different things, that's life. I'm not sure what the absolute worst game I've played is. It's probably Karate on the VCS. Kiss Psycho Circus is definitely up there too though. There's an unplayable racing game on Sega CD I can't think of the name of that's a contender too. i was shocked something could be worse than Sewer Shark and Night Trap but this one was the absolute worst on the Sega CD I have played. -
A while back we did a special on Pac-man for one of the HD channels I work for. While archiving one of my hard drives this morning, I found this Pac-Man wink animation I did that we closed the show with. This was originally HD but I re-rendered it smaller for the web. I thought some Pac-Fans here might get a kick out of it. wink.mov

I wound up changing out the fire buttons on one of my 5200 sticks to microswitches which really helped. It was pretty easy to wire them up to the white harness in the 5200 stick even for a total electronics novice like me. I love the Cx40s on the VCS but have to agree on the 7800 sticks. They are torture devices. The RSI stick mod was the best thing to happen to my 7800.

'hell of a lot..."? I have to disagree. Neither systems stock sticks are very good but in my opinion they equal out for crappiness. For example: 1. Both have the uncomfortable side fire buttons. I prefer the CV ones because they actually have some movement to them and are at least responsive. The 5200 soft mushy feel is awful and I think less responsive. 2. Both aren't terribly comfortable to hold for a long time overall. I guess the 5200 sticks are little better in that regard because they are less wide. 3. The joystick handle on both have problems. The CV stick is too short making it feel really tight. Too much effort is needed to actually move it. The 5200 stick is more comfortable to hold but I find it too loose and it doesn't self-center like the the CV stick. The handle problems are easily rectified with the CV stick by just mounting it in the Roller controller if you have it. I even glued a longer handle for more leverage onto the CV stick which improved it's tight-feel a lot. 4. For reliability, the CV sticks win hands down. While it's possible to change out the flex circuits and dots on the 5200 stick and make it good, the CV sticks don't need that. They just need a cleaning every few years. I have to clean my 5200 sticks every couple of months to keep them working. Both have good replacement sticks which is a good thing. The easily found and cheap Super Action sticks for the CV are excellent IMHO. The 5200 replacements are much harder to find and more expensive. I think that is the most likely answer over all.

what do think is the best mario game?
joeybastard replied to dark 666's topic in Modern Console Discussion
SMB 2 followed very closely by SM World -
I love Bagman. I've cleared the 3 screens(level one). It's a little disappointing when the same 3 screens appear after the intermission though.

I think you have to finish Shenmue to get the VMU content. I never have finished it so I don't have it on the VMU either.
-
This is the list from Wikipedia. I don't know if there are more. I do know there some homebrews for it but I've never looked into how to add them to a VMU or if they're any good. * Evolution 2 (12 Hour Clock) * Godzilla Generations (Japanese Version) * Jet Grind Radio * Power Stone * Power Stone 2 * Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 * Namco Museum * NFL 2K * NFL 2K1 * NFL 2K2 * Quake III Arena * Resident Evil 2 * Sega GT * Shenmue * Skies of Arcadia * Sonic Adventure * Sonic Adventure 2 * Soul Calibur (Japanese Version) * Tech Romancer * Time Stalkers * TrickStyle * Virtua Tennis * Zombie Revenge * Tokyo Bus Guide (I'm assuming this is Japanese too)

This was made from the PNG file of a screen shot in the 5200 database here on AA. I don;t know your screen size but this one is 1280x1024.

I forgot about Gingerbread Man. It should definitely be up as one of the all time great original homebrews.

the new revolutionary Star wars Wii game

Please. We both know no matter what the game offered or looked like, you'd whine about it because it's on the Wii. -

Yeah, just declare it sucks before you ever play it. That's the best way to judge any game. -
Toyshop Trouble and Marble Craze immediately come to mind.

What system burns you out the fastest?
joeybastard replied to godslabrat's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I only use my PS2 for GH and Taito Legends 2. All of the other games I have for it, I lost interest in very quickly. Same for my Xbox. I only play classic compilations on it. The games actually made for it, don't hold my interest. I never seem to get bored with my VCS, CV, NES, or DC. They get pretty constant play and have since the day I got them. -
That's it, it's just a story and not true. There was interview on Coleco Nation where some guy from Coleco said it wasn't true. The site is down so I can't get you a link at the moment. It was the usual cause of bad games, too little time and development spent on them to make them good. Not to mention some of the Coleco games for the VCS are pretty good like Roc n Rope, Frontline, Venture and Mousetrap. Considering the development and manufacture costs of the VCS games it would be a really stupid business plan to try and convince people to switch based on a few bad ports.
