A while back we did a special on Pac-man for one of the HD channels I work for. While archiving one of my hard drives this morning, I found this Pac-Man wink animation I did that we closed the show with. This was originally HD but I re-rendered it smaller for the web. I thought some Pac-Fans here might get a kick out of it.

I wound up changing out the fire buttons on one of my 5200 sticks to microswitches which really helped. It was pretty easy to wire them up to the white harness in the 5200 stick even for a total electronics novice like me.
I love the Cx40s on the VCS but have to agree on the 7800 sticks. They are torture devices. The RSI stick mod was the best thing to happen to my 7800.

They are still a hell of lot better that those HORRIBLE Colecovision controllers.Allan
'hell of a lot..."? I have to disagree. Neither systems stock sticks are very good but in my opinion they equal out for crappiness. For example:
1. Both have the uncomfortable side fire buttons. I prefer the CV ones because they actually have some movement to them and are at least responsive. The 5200 soft mushy feel is awful and I think less responsive.
2. Both aren't terribly comfortable to hold for a long time overall. I guess the 5200 sticks are little better in that regard because they are less wide.
3. The joystick handle on both have problems. The CV stick is too short making it feel really tight. Too much effort is needed to actually move it. The 5200 stick is more comfortable to hold but I find it too loose and it doesn't self-center like the the CV stick. The handle problems are easily rectified with the CV stick by just mounting it in the Roller controller if you have it. I even glued a longer handle for more leverage onto the CV stick which improved it's tight-feel a lot.
4. For reliability, the CV sticks win hands down. While it's possible to change out the flex circuits and dots on the 5200 stick and make it good, the CV sticks don't need that. They just need a cleaning every few years. I have to clean my 5200 sticks every couple of months to keep them working.
Both have good replacement sticks which is a good thing. The easily found and cheap Super Action sticks for the CV are excellent IMHO. The 5200 replacements are much harder to find and more expensive.
Coleco did do some Atari 8-bit games that they could have easily ported to the 5200 (Tarzan, Wargames, etc.). I guess they just didn't see the 5200 as worthwhile enough to spend resources on.Tempest
I think that is the most likely answer over all.

SMB 2 followed very closely by SM World

I love Bagman. I've cleared the 3 screens(level one). It's a little disappointing when the same 3 screens appear after the intermission though.

I think you have to finish Shenmue to get the VMU content. I never have finished it so I don't have it on the VMU either.
-
This is the list from Wikipedia. I don't know if there are more. I do know there some homebrews for it but I've never looked into how to add them to a VMU or if they're any good.
* Evolution 2 (12 Hour Clock)
* Godzilla Generations (Japanese Version)
* Jet Grind Radio
* Power Stone
* Power Stone 2
* Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
* Namco Museum
* NFL 2K
* NFL 2K1
* NFL 2K2
* Quake III Arena
* Resident Evil 2
* Sega GT
* Shenmue
* Skies of Arcadia
* Sonic Adventure
* Sonic Adventure 2
* Soul Calibur (Japanese Version)
* Tech Romancer
* Time Stalkers
* TrickStyle
* Virtua Tennis
* Zombie Revenge
* Tokyo Bus Guide (I'm assuming this is Japanese too)

I forgot about Gingerbread Man. It should definitely be up as one of the all time great original homebrews.

Please. We both know no matter what the game offered or looked like, you'd whine about it because it's on the Wii.
-
Yeah, just declare it sucks before you ever play it. That's the best way to judge any game.
-
I started with a joystick but depending on the game, I don't mind a thumbstick or D-Pad.
My favorite controller is actually a paddle but obviously that seriously limits your game options.
-
Toyshop Trouble and Marble Craze immediately come to mind.

I only use my PS2 for GH and Taito Legends 2. All of the other games I have for it, I lost interest in very quickly. Same for my Xbox. I only play classic compilations on it. The games actually made for it, don't hold my interest.
I never seem to get bored with my VCS, CV, NES, or DC. They get pretty constant play and have since the day I got them.

Since the story is that they crippled the games for the 2600 to make the ColecoVision look even better, making games for the 5200 would have shown that it could make games as good as those for their own system. If they tried to cripple the games for the 5200, it would be obvious.That's it, it's just a story and not true. There was interview on Coleco Nation where some guy from Coleco said it wasn't true. The site is down so I can't get you a link at the moment. It was the usual cause of bad games, too little time and development spent on them to make them good. Not to mention some of the Coleco games for the VCS are pretty good like Roc n Rope, Frontline, Venture and Mousetrap. Considering the development and manufacture costs of the VCS games it would be a really stupid business plan to try and convince people to switch based on a few bad ports.

My wife got me the port of Impossible Mission recently and I'm having a lot of fun with that. If you liked the old C64 game, this is a really nice updated version and it's only $10.

It uses the same same sound chip as a VCS for most games but a couple of carts have a built in Pokey for sound. Have you tried both 7800 and 2600 carts in it? If you have 7800 BallBlazer or Commando, they have the extra Pokey chip so try to see if you get sound with either of those. If you do, I don't think RF could be the problem.
My 7800 is the only Atari console I've had that repeatedly gives me problems. My power switch stays on no matter what I do to it. I added an on/off switch to the power adapter to deal with that. The A/B difficulty switches sometimes don't work and I have to wiggle carts to get them to go in sometimes. I like many of the games but compared to the near indestructible VCS, the 7800 workmanship seems lacking.

I think GH II had the best song list of the series. Sure the cover of Search and Destroy is uber-wimpy sounding compared to the original but anything that puts the Stooges in front of the masses gets the OK, in my book.
-
I haven't played it yet. What's the ratio of old Aerosmith (say 1980 and prior) to new Aerosmith? What other songs are on it?

Keep in mind that while there may be a Dem majority in the congress they are not a big enough majority to actually get anything done. There are enough Reps to keep any measures from being passed or having to be severely watered down before they pass. This gets thrown around a lot where people claim they Dems in Congress aren't doing anything but the fact is, they can't because they don't have a big enough majority.
Also:
we still have it A LOT BETTER than most countriesWhile that may be somewhat true, it doesn't change what's happening in the long run. Let things go the way they are and we won't have it any better.
I'll skip the paranoia stuff you get into about "enemies in hiding." It's ludicrous to think whoever the next president is will not do anything if the country is really threatened. You can believe that if you want but I think it's too silly to take seriously.

Everyone is complaining about the "crap economy" but I'm better off than I've been in years.I've bought more on ebay in the last year than for a long time.
Haven't really found a good local thrift.
Me too but I'm in a field less hurt by the general economy. Look around at the rest of your community. Are there more foreclosed houses, more unemployment or under employment? More people sinking into unmanageable debt? All that is happening where I live. So for the time being, yeah, I made a few more bucks the past couple of years but many others around me are going downhill fast. In the long run, it will catch up to me too if things don't start turning around.

No, DS games are for the DS only. Gameboy and GB Advance games were playable on the Gamecube with the Gameboy player add-on but there's nothing like that for the Wii.
-
I don't think it's really about ease of use only. Using the Wiimote instead of traditional controller provides a different game experience. It may not be an experience everybody likes but it's different never the less.

I find them by the truckload at garage sales. The thing is, I'm not interested in 95% of them so I rarely buy any.

What's the Worst Game You Have Ever Played?
in Modern Console Discussion

I wouldn't say Halo was the worst game I ever played but I didn't think it was anything special either. It's one of those games that other people seem to love and I find to be mediocre at best. And I've played WAY more than 5 games in life. Different people like different things, that's life.
I'm not sure what the absolute worst game I've played is. It's probably Karate on the VCS. Kiss Psycho Circus is definitely up there too though. There's an unplayable racing game on Sega CD I can't think of the name of that's a contender too. i was shocked something could be worse than Sewer Shark and Night Trap but this one was the absolute worst on the Sega CD I have played.
