Duck Hunt 2600 Needs A Name
Primordial Ooze replied to Primordial Ooze's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Hi everyone, Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions, i decided to use quacker blaster as the name and a website has been setup. Here's the link to the site http://quackerblaster.tk. Iam quite busy at the moment as something important has come up, and unfortinately it will effect the progress of the game. I hope to have at least a graphics demo out by early next year so bear with me. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze -
Duck Hunt 2600 Needs A Name
Primordial Ooze replied to Primordial Ooze's topic in Homebrew Discussion
I like Qwak and Quacker Blaster. Qwak i believe is copyrighted by Atari so I'm afraid to use it. Quacker Blaster is my alternate and a suitable alternate at that. Keep em coming, still looking for a third alternate. Yes this will be a lightgun game, but joystick support will be considered. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze -
Hi everyone, Yes i am going to try to recreate the infamous nes duck hunt game for the Atari 2600. However to avoid a lawsuit because of the name, i need your help in coming up with an original name. The name i like the most will become the new name of the game. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze

I remember that one of the three interrupts, weren't required when creating Atari 2600 games. In addition you could save a byte by not including that interrupt and changing the starting the interrupt address at $FFFC instead of $FFFA. Could someone please tell me which interrupt i don't need and can remove safely? Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze

Would anyone like to see a port of wild gunman for the 2600? I was thinking about it the other night and realized it would be a fun port, since wild gunman is a "lightgun" game and shown in Back to the Future 2/3. Please let me know you thoughts in this matter as soon as possible as if enough want it i may consider doing it. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze

Code isn't working to overscanning
Primordial Ooze replied to Primordial Ooze's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
Great, thanks for fixing it. I think i might keep your zombie in the game and give you credit. The only problem now is trying to get the playfield to mimic a room instead of white snow. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze -
Code isn't working to overscanning
Primordial Ooze replied to Primordial Ooze's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
I don't understand why. Even combat does more stuff then I'm trying to do and it uses less cycles not to mention page boundaries. Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Any assistence in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze -
This is the code i am using for drawing the playfield. For some reason it's causing the scan lines to jump to 343. However what i am doing is much simpler then most games, yet it still is using more scan lines then normal. Snip: lda (pf0_ptr),y ; load PF0 data sta PF0 ; set it as PF0 lda (pf1_ptr),y ; load PF1 data sta PF1 ; set it as PF1 lda (pf2_ptr),y ; load PF2 data sta PF2 ; set it as PF2 If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Doctor who? Ha, that would be comical, but no just a regular 8 * 8 sprite with the resulting assembly listing pmed. It's for an open source game iIm creating. See my signature for more info. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze

May i put in a request for a doctor sprite, if it isn't too much of a bother? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze

Which game do you prefer i make?
Primordial Ooze replied to Primordial Ooze's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
@offtopic Ok, does anyone know how big can sprites be without rolling the screen? Also what would be a good name for a Left 4 Dead 2600 game? Does 2600 for Dead sound good? Sincerely, Primordial Ooze -
Which game do you prefer i make?
Primordial Ooze replied to Primordial Ooze's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
Plants vs Zombie isn't doable for me at the moment. I know nothing about the game, and i can't run it on my PC due to me only being able to afford a crappy pc. Seeing as i can't seem to edit the poll to remove that as an answer, please note that Plant Versus Zombies is no longer a viable answer for the poll at this time. I will let you know when it if and when it will become available. Sorry for the inconvenience. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze -
I'm torn between remaking House of the Dead, Left 4 Dead, and Plants Vs Zombies. Heres a general idea for each game: House of the Dead: Lightgun game, shoot zombies with your lightgun Left 4 Dead: Adventure like game with the main character being able to shoot at the zombies roaming around the maze. Plants Vs Zombie: unsure Please let me know what you guys prefer. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze

Can someone please help me create a zombie sprite for my game. I am not that talented with graphics and the closest i could come up with is this: .byte #%01100110 .byte #%00111100 .byte #%00111100 .byte #%11111111 .byte #%10011001 .byte #%01111110 .byte #%01011010 .byte #%01111110 Which looks more like an alien. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Primordial Ooze

Does anyone know of any documentation for the xg lightgun. I'm looking specifically for knowing what register and bit is effected when the player presses the trigger, how the gun returns a hit. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze
-
Are there any reference documents showing what bits change when the trigger is pulled and when the diode sees white? The Stella Programmers Manual makes no reference to the xe lightgun controllers, and i can't see to find any reference documents pertaining to them. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_gun You mean setting COLUBK to black and COLUP0, COLUP1 and COLUPF to white when the trigger is pressed and then resetting it to normal afterwards? Sincerely, Primordial Ooze

Ok, I've managed to take a look at the back of my television and sound this: Brand: Daewoo Model# DTQ-27S4FC This should help with identifying what type of television it is. Please let me know what your finding are at your earliest convenience. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze
-
So basically there's no way of knowing without giving a model? Cause like i said i have used a nes lightzapper successfully on it. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze
-
And CRT will work with the atari xe lightgun or not? I've used the Nes lightzapper successfully with the TV, if that helps. Also what are 100hz CRT's? Sincerely, Primordial Ooze
-
How will i know if my television will/won't work with the lightgun? I'm not sure if it's a vacuum television, but i do know its quite big and therefore not one of the newer TVs.

2 Questions: 1. Which light gun are we talking about, cause there were 2 light guns for the commodore 64. here and here 2. What modifications are required exactly? I prefer a plug n' play approach instead of having to butcher stuff together to get it to work and i would imagine the community would prefer the same. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze

What would be a common alternitive to the atari xe lightgun, cause frankly this is the first time i'm hearing this. The closest "alternitive" i've found is the "better then the xe lightgun" lightgun, which i'm not allowed to post because it's an ebay thing which isn't allowed. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze
-
Does anyone think i should create an atari 2600 homebrew for the atari xe lightgun. I have my doubts seeing that the xe lightgun is extremely rare and very fragine. Please let me know what you think and give ideas of possible lightgun games. Thanks, Primordial Ooze

Would a simple shoot-em-up be possible to do on the Atari 2600? I am interested in trying to do one to see if a simple r-type game is possible. I play on releasing updated builds as i go, and may even turn it into a community project. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Primordial Ooze
