  1. Hi all,

I have bought a jap model Neo Geo CD from a ebay seller in Hong Kong, it came with a bunch of games, controller, a Hewlett Packard PSU and a 220v/110v stepdown adaptor. Now the thing powers up but does not spin the discs, either game discs or music cd's. I contacted the seller who thinks it is the power supply not putting out enough power to spin the drive, apparently he has had this issue before.

Anyhow being non electronically minded do this sound feasible? Also where could I get a 240v PSU that would meet the correct spec's? Also anyone know what the spec's should be?

    Thanks All!

    chris

  2. Hi Pipster, thanks for the info, I have just given it a go on my front room telly, a mids 1990's Sony 21" CRT I not getting anything out of it, did a fully tuning search and nada. I'll give it a go with the new LCD 15" TV upstairs in a bit as that is more likely to be NTSC compatible.

    Best,

    Chris

  3. I got a sears video arcade (woody six switch) off UK ebay earlier in the week for a fiver with all the controllers, manuals and a couple of games. Now I would like to get this thing working on my PAL TV so hopefully the NTSC games I have will come up in the right colours etc. Now I assume I'm going to have to do a composite video mod to make this happen as my TV will not find a signal off the RF, I belive this is something to do with the UHF/VHF difference in UK & US tellys? Now I'm hoping someone on here has already done this or has an even easier(or better) solution, my soldering skills are pretty minimal, I'm alright with wiring on my Motorcycles but this electronics stuff I have never tried before. Anyhow any advice/ help welcome.

    Cheers folks!

  4. My homebrew games came through today from the store and I have had a chance to try them out for 10 mins or so each. First I tried Was This Planet Sucks! It's a lunar Rescue type game and really good fun, the graphics and controls are really nice and it's a real challenge too, sound is not that great but a nice game that i'll be going back to a lot. Next I played ladybird, this is truly superb, the whole package is A1, I really think this is by far the best maze game for the system if not the best game period, if you don;t have it, buy it! Next was Space Treat Deluxe, basically it's frogger in space, now frogger is one of my favourite games, I have the Parker cart, the Starpath tape and the XE cart so this game is right up my street, lovely graphics and very responsive controls. The last game I got was Dark Mage, it's all text and seems to be pretty descriptive, I'll need to spend more timee on this before I cn give a verdict but it's interesting so far. Definetly going to get some more when I have some cash.

    Best regards,

    Chris

  5. I think I read somewhere on these message boards that Activision carts used a slightly thinner contact board, which makes it harder to achieve a good contact with the cartridge port (please correct me if I'm wrong.) So, even after you clean your cart, you might need to work with the cart to get a good connection. Don't give up on it, though. In all my years, I think I've only come across 1 or 2 carts that were truly "dead."

Guess i've been unlucky, had 6 dead out of the 130 odd carts I own.

  6. Ok, So I have a copy of starmaster but when I put it into the 2600 all I get is random colored lines or black and white lines, I tried it on my 4 switch woody and my brothers vader console. Any way to fix this?

Cleaning the contacts carefully with a cotton bud and rubbing alchol or with a pencil eraser usually does the trick. If not Some others have had some success with resoldering the chip but it's never worked for me.

  7. I certainly wouldn't! Never heard of the XE series in the day only had a 2600. When my partner got into ebay a while ago I bought a 2600 to replace the one I had as a kid, while hunting for games I bought a XEGS with games for £3.50 on the off chance, came here after to see what I had bought! Great system, worth owning for star raiders and final legacy alone in my opinion. Frogger is also really good & moon patrol. Considering trying to get a tape deck and games but have heard they take forever to load, not 30secs like the supercharger. So only using carts so far. Also Atariage prompted me to get a Lynx, another sysyetm i had never heard of and really like.

Yep so no internet, no atari's for me.

    best,

    chris

  9. Hi Walter,

recieved my cart this morning, thanks! Just wanted to say it's a cool game, my partner who doesn't normally play Atari (except Frogger), really loves it, she spent about two hours on it so far, we WILL see that end sequence.

    Thanks again!

    Chris

  10. I get one, it's ok with my Ipod but it's a NTSC Supercharger and my ATARI are only PAL so it's sucks....

Once a game is loaded, the format of the supercharger (PAL or NTSC) doesn't matter anymore. I use my NTSC supercharger with PAL consoles to load PAL games and it works perfectly. The only difference with a PAL supercharger is that the load screen (the starfield with "REWIND TAPE","PRESS PLAY" and "STOP TAPE" flashing text) is displayed at 60 Hz (and maybe with different sequence of colors in the flashing text). Most European TV handle 60Hz without problem. Just use PAL roms/tapes with your supercharger. :)

    So :

NTSC SC + PAL ROM + PAL console = OK

NTSC SC + NTSC ROM + PAL console = KO

I have to try again. How to check if a .bin is PAL or NTSC (if no information about) ?

I use a NTSC 'charger, tapes on a PAL console and TV and it's fine, some of the colours are off is all.

  11. I like this it is very calm and mellow, a nice change, could i suggest that the sea creatures have to follow the maze as well?

Look forward to a final cart release I plan to purchase the original soon & have the travi cart(i believe also based on gosub) on the way.

    thanks!

    Chris
