Title says it all really. Just curious as it seems the obvious choice from a cheap distribution point of view(tapes are much cheaper than carts). Also the extra power must be useful I would imagine. The games quality of the orignal Arcadia/starpath games was very high but I imagine some of todays home brewer folks could do some even more impressive feats.
Best regards,
Chris

Whatever it is you are trying to achieve here you are most certainly going the wrong way about it in my view. This certainly is doing you no favours on the sales of your book cart, I personally was considering a purchase, this thread has actually put me off! Why you seem unable to supply a screen shot and/or a picture of the physical cart itself i cannot understand. This is clearly not a time issue, as you found it to post labels that are completley irellevant. Show us a screenshot/yootube movie, show us a pic of the real item. Tell us how cheap the cart will be and stop pissing about. you are really bugging the best market you have for your products, you didn't work for Atari circa 1984 by any chance?

I dig Fireball myself and that Communist Mutants from Space game you got too.I havnt played DragonStomper but i hear good things about it.Congrats on the Supercharger.
Commie mutants in great, love the jellyfish aliens
have the case for dragon stomper, but no tape, so I guess thats another I need to hunt for. -
I just got my Arcadia Supercharger with phaser patrol, commie mutants & suicide mission through the post. WOW!!!! This thing is great, it loads very easy with an old Aiwa walkman and those games are really impressive. All three are fantastic, I'm going to be playing them a lot I reckon.
Anyhow, found this interesting page a day or too ago, have a look.

Just gotta get Frogger for the supercharger now, any one got one, thay want to sell or could run a tape to tape copy off for me?
Anyhow, back to phaser patrol!

Anyhow suggest some game carts I can't be without!Hi Chris,
Welcome to the A8 community.
The ideas suggested by others are very good and, in most cases, the best way to go. However, if you just want to keep things simple to start off, getting some carts is probably the best idea.
Here are some of my favorites on cart:
archon
ballblazer
blue max
boulder dash
commando
crystal castles
deflektor
dig dug (either version)
donkey kong jr
flip and flop
frogger
gyruss
joust
jumpman jr
karateka
mario bros
ms pac-man
pac-man
q-bert
rescue on fractalus
star raiders
summer games
tennis
Maybe get a few that sound interesting, and then decide if you want to invest more time/money into other options.
This site will give you good info on the games:
If you have experience with emulation, you can also download files to play on an emulator at Atarimania.
There are many good carts for the A8 besides the ones that I've mentioned, but many of the jewels for the system are also to be found on the other available mediums (disks/files).
Hope this helps. The A8 is a really great platform.
Thanks! Have got star raiders, frogger(one of my alltime favourite), mountain king, moon patro & Qbert on there way. Also a friend gave me a cop of kaboom! I'll start this way to begin & as you say see how I get on!
Best regards,
Chrisl

Pacman, centipede, frogger, star raiders & demon attack back in the early eighties.
Now Seaquest, reactor, frogger, atlantis, starmaster, ms pacman, defender, oh also venture & solar fox.
So many games, so little time

My other hobby/passion is classic British motorcycles of which I have 7. The most modern of these is 1968 so the Atari feels quite modern in comparison although I was created only five years before the VCS! As a friend of mine says, anything with a mains plug on the end isn't that old, after all we haven't had electricity THAT long

Here is my PAL Heavy sixer, bought from a friend a while back who was the original owner. I used to play on this very machine at his house when I was a kid!
It still works perfectly too, wish I had looked after my stuff as well as he did!
I had no idea this was a rare model until I found this forum, out of curiosity, what would you say it's value is?
Best regards,
Chris

You can get a SIO2PC it can make using the XE so much better! icon_wink.gif http://www.atarimax.com/Um don't really get this, what does it do? I'm not really a computer expert(understatment).
The question is, did you just get the Console, or did you get a keyboard with it'?Yes the XE has a keyboard included, does this make a big difference?
Best regards,
Chris

I have bought a XE console in working order, with leads etc on a whim for £3.49 off ebay. I have never owned one before and need some reccomendations for games. I have a pretty good 2600 collection and also a 7800, how does the XE compare? Anyhow suggest some game carts I can't be without!

Hi anyone know if Meltdown is playable without the lightgun? Alien Brigade works with the pad, so maybe this game too? If not then could I use the lightgun from a Sega Master system maybe?
Best regards!

Yes, I like this game too, one I had as a child, as long as you time your jump from the boat carefully in, no worries.Although most people here are anti-Froggo, I personally really like Sea Hunt, it's one of my favorite 2600 games.autumn_drag0n
I going to look for Fathom and Dolphin next as they both sound cool.
Another I thought of that no one else has mentioned is Frostbite, another of my all time favourites.
I wish! My old G3 Imac barely could, glad when it packed up and we got this new Mac Mini!Come on man, a handheld LCD football game can run OS X.Thanks for all the replies.
All the best!

Hi Folks!
I have noticed many of the games that I am enjoying the most have a water theme, so I looked through my collection to pick out all the titles that are based around the marine theme, Anyone add any others I can look out for, thought it may be fun to "Catch 'em all!".
Here's what I have:
Atlantis
Seaquest
Marine Wars
Crash Dive
Skin Diver
Frogger
Polaris
Airlock
Overkill(Sea Hawk)
River Raid
River Raid 2
Alien Brigade 7800(loose link but it does have that undersea level)
I have frogger 2 and bermuda triangle on there way in the mail too, looking forward to those.
So if you can think of any others and maybe add a comment on what the game involves and what you think of it go ahead.
Best regards,
Chris

I have a 1986 PAL Dodge 'Em with "use with paddle controllers". Also picture out of box.
-
I have a Radofin Tele sports 3 console with a handful of games, it's pretty cool in a fabulously primative way.
Here is some info if your interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1292_Advanced...le_Video_System

Pick N Pile is very similar (if not the same game). Distributed by Ubisoft, one of the really big euro distributors. I's a really quirky game. It only works with a joystick in the right hand port for a start. the graphics are fearsomly flickery too.

t's Here:http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...VERSION_ID=8477
And a list of Imagic White labels:

Thanks Omega, i really must start checking atarimania too! See they spelt it right on the box, just wrong on the cart.
Best regards

It's a PAL Version. The game is identical in play to my original Silver Imagic version.
