  1. The first game I bought with my own cash was a sale price (£40 reduced from £200) Oric Atmos system with games bundle, back in 1984,our local co-op electrical store was closing and i went in on the last day and there it was, took me months to pay back my dad for the loan :)

The replacement I bought a few years ago cost twice that at least from ebay :(

  2. Some of the problems have been fixed, but by fixing them, I made new problems, so this version is really buggy. I've just posted this to prove I still have this game in my thoughts. Once I have the code just right, I think I might be able to keep this at 4k.

4K means the price will be lower for the carts also which is good for everyone. Simple game that is tons of fun that will be avalible for a fair price.

sounds good to me shaun, count me in. would this be the first official licenced homebrew?? I hope your not going to get all coporate on us :)

  3. One wonders how much faith Atari had in the 5200 as it never even got an international launch at the height of the videogame boom. anyone know the thinking behind no PAL release for the 5200? To the best of my knowledge it's the only major system from Atari never to see the light of day in the UK.

    Best regards,

    Chris

  4. Hi all,

I have a nice fully working 520 STE with cables, mouse, box, inner polys, manual & a decent collection of games including Dungeon master etc. i never really got into it & it's too big for me to keep set up so | never play it.

I would like to get an Atari 400 with tape deck & cables etc in working order with a few games instead.

would also consider an intellivision or Colecovision with some carts.

I'm in the UK so because of voltage/PAL and shipping considerations this is a UK only offer.

Anyone interested? I get make some pics etc & list games.

    Best,

    Chris

  7. Back when I was a kid a few kids i knew had the G7000 I think it sold pretty well over here, probably better than the Intellivision and Colecovision to be honest, I never knew anyone have one of those back in the day, only saw Colecovision on display in Woolworths along with the Vectrex. All the big outlets used to have G7000 displays, Rumbelows, WH Smiths, John Menzies etc. I think like all the consoles over here by the time Philips pulled the plug in 1984 the computers had taken over the market and that was somewhat struggling, remember Dragon, Oric & even Sinclair colapsed about then, cheap cassette games took over from expensive carts. I have seen some new in box G7000 games on ebay still with Menzies £7.99 stickers on but when this price was current I have no way of knowing.

As to the machine itself, I recently got a boxed one from ebay with 10+ games for less than £20. I am really enjoying it to be honest, the graphics are simple but nice and clear and bright, the RF output is exceptionally crisp and clear, the animation is also very smooth and no flicker. The games I have are a mixed bag, Munchkin and Crazychase are very good, Turtles is also very fun. I also got a complete Quest for the Rings(the hybrid board/video game) that I have yet to play, the physical presentation of the package is however superb, lovely thick board, beautiful manual and metal game pieces, best video game packaging ever!

  8. Sub Scan- NTSC and PAL60

Above issues corrected. The timing problem came from the horizontal positioning table @$FDFA, which was placed over a page break. Moving it slightly so that it doesn't cross a boundry was enough to fix the problem. I also fixed the small piece of "sky" that appears on the water surface.

Quite a lot of optimizations could be done to the program...possibly freeing enough space to make the port more true to the arcade game (i.e. have the subs fire back at you). I've listed some of them, but the display would need timing to remain static. As it is, it relys on the cycle time used by the current scanlines' instructions. It must have been a pain in the butt to develop this way :P

wow that was fast! you don't mess about do you Nukey?

    Thanks very much!

Did anyone have any luck with bin>wav conversion on OSX without resorting to windows(that I don't have)?

    Best,

    Chris

  9. This is the first time i have seen this thread and just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work Nukey!

Any chance of a PAL 60 version of Sub Scan, the NTSC cart is completely unplayable due to the colour palette on a PAL system.

I'm just going off to burn so CD's with the audio files Mark made & have a play!

    Thanks,

    Chris

  10. I looked all over in local stores for JP Operation Genesis and haven't seen it for like 3 years. Nobody must trade it in, and nobody carries it new anymore. So do you think JPOG is a good game on Xbox1? Is it very dated visually now?

funny you should ask my girlfreind was playing it for 2 hours straight again last night before going back to Fallout 3. She adores it! The graphics are very nice as far as animation, weather & water effects goes plus in also upscales nicely on the 360 so looks very crisp & clean, still looks good on the original hardware in my opinion too. Some of the missions are really fun too & when you beat them all you get island B and unlimited cash witch is fun!
