  1. This does have "made for tv movie" written all over it: So we waltz into this little backwards town, supercharger and cuttle carts in hand, and the locals look over at us funny, like they've seen more than they care to admit. Along strolls a gentleman, in his late 90's, and says...."ya ain't from around here, is ya?" You can't even get a word in edgewise, and he continues... "bout maybe 6, 7 years ago some fellaz come a strolling in here, saizing they lookin' for long lost treasure, and I say---only treasure i no of is de ol gold mines up there on Potimus Bluff." "Never did see em young fellaz ever again, some say they went snooping around at The Quarry, but you know what I think happened..." And the story continues, actors include Jean Claude Van Dam as the Sheriff, and Paul Rubins is his sidekick.
  2. I can't get enough of this product, it amazes me every time I use it. And I don't even work for their company! rofl Well here's what happened. I came back from running around town, and I step in some yucky tar junk (they had recently repaved our parking area)....that's what I think it was, melted tar stuff. Well anyway, my shoe was really sticky on the bottom, felt like I had stepped in a wad of gum, as every step it made that irritating squishing sticky sound. So I took it in and first tried water, and then I tried to use my fingernail to scratch it off. Well my shoe was "clean" but the sticky crap was still there, and I didn't want that in my apartment getting my floors all full of tar. Then I thought I might try the amazing Goo-Gone! I sprayed it on the bottom of my shoe, and didn't even wait like even 5 seconds, and I wiped it off with a paper towel. The sticky gunk came right off, and I looked at the paper towel afterwards, and it was saturated with dirt and grime! It was definitely NOT sticky after that. Unbelievable. (may cause cancer, use as directed, void in Utah, some users may experience drowsiness, stunt car on closed course-do not attempt)

    Cart Tracking

What does it matter about PAL? Do you collect PAL for some reason? They work on European style TVs, I can't think they are much use to people in the US... There are converters I think, or carts that have been remade in NTSC version.

    Cart Tracking

Well I started with simple word pad lists, then I moved on to note pad lists, that allow for bold type, and stuff. I've since moved on to Excel spreadsheets, which really is nice.... But now I hear of this program, and I might give it a try. My collections ARE becoming quite alot bigger, and this program will simply make collecting even more fun than it already is! I LIKE that idea of having groups of collectors post their cartridges online... It might be a nice way to "share the wealth"....so then collectors can post any carts they'd be willing to trade or sell to others registered on the same site. Anything that would give more of an "insider" track than Ebay would probably be worth while and cost effective to me in the future.
  5. Being this is my 500th post, I thought nothing could be finer than mentioning this great game. So without further delay, let's marvel at this game: It says something like 1-4 RACE CARS Excellent, and what's this, even MORE to the program? 5-8 CRASH N' SCORE ? Race cars wasn't trademarked, so this must be even better! 9-10 TAG , absolute perfection, finer than magnificent! And finally, 11-14 ICE RACE So many variations, and a number such as CX-2611 Can anything be so great? Oh art thou Indy 500, all other car games do not approach your excellence! and omigod, 11 indy 500 Lowercase indy, certainly they should've provided all caps for the end label, but they were just being modest. They know that their creation was the finest of the fine race games!!    INDY 500!!
  6. This is definitely on my want list. It is crazy cool. I saw one up close at The Midwest Classic, and it was hooked to a cd player (which provided the sound data), although you can hook it into cassette players too. I saw Stella gets a new brain cd on display. I have a major question about the Super Charger.... Let's say I DON'T have the game Pitfall! for the Atari 2600. Would there be a way to take the ROM (bin file) from my emulator, and create a SOUND FILE out of it, and then record it to a tape (or cd), and transfer it into the supercharger, thus being able to play Pitfall! FROM the supercharger? Also, could anyone explain how the supercharger works in "Superchargers for Dummies" style? I think it works kinda the way modem noise works, but I'm not totally sure. Thanks for the help!
  7. Well mine aren't impressive at all, but I want to share Chuck Norris/Artillery Duel: 5 Frostbite: 4 Kool Aid Man: 4 I'm still happy to have these games which are kinda rare. They are all definitely EXTREMELY cool to own.
  8. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8433 Here's one that was referring to... Notice how it has more replies than it does VIEWS... It just looks kind of wierd. Like people posted stuff to it, but closed their eyes
  9. I see this a few times on these new boards... I thought that every time someone replies it would be considered a VIEW. Perhaps is it that the same person is posting more than once in their own post? And it doesn't count a view if it is done more than once by a certain user?
  10. Omigod, I had no idea. I didn't look at the price close enough. It is up to $100 for it. I'm sorry, no matter how much I adore shrinkwrapped games, this auction IS going way too far. $10 for a shrinkwrapped Atari 2600 is reasonable to me, anything over $20 is pushing it. $100 is just plain retarded crazy I got my shrinkwrapped games from The Midwest Classic for $3 a piece. I couldn't pass up such a nice deal, no matter what the games were. So I snatched all the ones I could (about 5 or 6).
  11. Ok, here it is: Imagine if I took my whole cartridge collection and dumped a whole truckload of dirt on top of them. I waited a day, and fished them out of this dirt pile. Pretty disgusting huh? I have a bunch of cartridges that work still, but they just look horrible. Suppose I set all of these cartridges out on a table (dirty and everything), and invited a friend over to see my collection. I'd be like "look at my Atari collection!" Isn't it wonderful? He'd look at all the dirt and grime and wouldn't be very impressed, would he? Ok, take the other side of it.... What if I showed him ALL shrinkwrapped games, in tip top shape, and high quality. You see it is all about having a CLEAN organized collection. Loose cartridges are for playing from, but when they are in nice shape it is even better. Shrinkwrapped games hold their value very nicely, especially Atari games, but there's plenty of debate over the value of games. I had a loose Dragster that I bought from Ebay that looked like it got attacked by a dog, I didn't pay very good attention to its shape on the picture from Ebay. So I rebought another loose cartridge of Dragster from a store near where I live, and it was beautiful looking....no tears, scratches...and the purple color had a nice shine to it.
  12. Well I'll chime in on this topic for sure, because I simply LOVE shrinkwrapped new in box games. Especially for Atari 2600 and Atari 5200. I'm not overly impressed by shrinkwrapped Nintendo (NES) games, because I'd consider them more common. A game that has been shrinkwrapped, and untouched since 1983, isn't that just cool as hell? You would think that over time as these shrinkwrapped boxes exchanged hands and people bought them over time that less would be shrinkwrapped, and more would become open, and no longer in flawless state. I have opened ONE shrinkwrapped Atari 2600 game, but that's because I bought two of them with the express purpose of keeping one untouched. I bought two Solaris shrinkwrapped at The Midwest Classic. Under ideal circumstances that's how I'd collect ALL Atari 2600 games...buy two shrinkwrapped of each, and open one. But this would get costly VERY FAST, so I'm happy to have a collection of loose cartridges, till I can build up the shrinkwrapped collection. Shrinkwrapped games are for display purposes, they are NOT for opening. Some people say they get shrinkwrapped games so that they know that the game is in REALLY good condition when they OPEN it up. This is a pretty good point, and that's why I'd get two shrinkwrapped games and open one, that way I know that I'm the one to blame if I don't take care of the cartridge and it goes bad. Sometimes shrinkwrapped game boxes get crushed from the shrinkwrap itself, and this is the only issue I know of with them. I still haven't directly answered your question about what's so cool about having the box... To answer it I'll post another reply...
  13. I heard somewhere (I don't know where from), that blowing into Nintendo cartridges only makes the problem worse, because it somehow makes all that junk that's already in your cartridge just go further in. Kind of like rubbing dust off a cd with your fingers, you just get them even more oily and full of crap. I've also heard that using the "Q-tip" cleaning tip with isopropyl alcohol that works great for Atari cartridges will actually DESTROY Nintendo or Super Nintendo Cartridges. is this correct? I tried Q-tipping an NBA Live 96 for Super Nintendo, but it didn't harm it that I saw.
  14. That's funny you mention it, because I had like 6 or 7 very intense conversations with people during the "little" bit I was there. I was very very happy to have people who shared my interest also want to talk about it. Goat Dan was one of them He told me the history of the name of their site and everything. Him and Gary too were so cool to people there. And I had a personal one on one 30 minute chat with the maker of Warring Worms (while I played him at his own game). I talked to him alot about how to program games, and got some useful newbie type advice. Our conversation was so distracting to him, that I ended up having a higher score. I was beating the maker of his own video game, there could not be a higher moment!! hehe All this talking of course made me even more tired than I already was, and it became very uncomfortable at around 2pm. On a slightly unrelated note....at around 7pm or 8pm that night I was really surprised that I suddenly wasn't tired anymore (like an adrenaline rush) but I had a sneaky feeling I knew what it was. My body probably just said fuck you, and stopped giving me signals that I was more tired than I had ever been in my life. Kinda like when you are SO hungry that your stomach just says "figure it out yourself, I'm not helping anymore".
  15. If you are using car analogies....then here's mine... When you plug your car in (like in the winter time) the battery is located in the front of the car. So where the Nintendo hooks in it should be called THE FRONT. Where you actually insert the cartridge should be THE BACK or on a car it would be like putting shit in THE TRUNK So they should call it a: BACK LOADER
  16. Next year, I'm getting a hotel room I think. I didn't get much sleep "the night before" the event....since I've never been to a classic gaming convention it was like the night before Christmas as a kid, I could NOT sleep even tho I tried really hard. So I "got up" at around 3am, and drove to pick up this guy I went there with at around 4am. I had a bunch of snacks and we hit the road. We got there at around 9:45am, but we ended up driving around trying to find the place....they had it very well hidden, hehe. My mapquest said Dana Street, but we drove up and down Dana Street and didn't find anything. We drove past the convention like three times, it was funny (well kinda). So we finally waltzed in like 10 minutes after opening, and I snagged #6 of 60 of warring worms. I had a good amount of energy, but it quickly faded at around 1:30-2:00pm. We ended up leaving at 3pm. And I knew I had to drive 5 hours and 45 minutes back So like I said, next year I'm going to do some planning, and invest some money in getting a hotel room, so I can invest more time in the place, and festivities. A two night hotel stay would be perfect! Even in that 4 to 5 hours, I saw everything I needed to see I think. I'm going next year, there's no doubt.
  17. Aren't there two versions.... A top loader and a front loader? The snes I would consider a top loader, maybe that's how I'm confused.

    Game God II

I believe that I'm the best at Street Fighter Collection 2 for the Sony Playstation I keep statistics on my matches with my friend, and I'd be willing to send them to anyone who supports Correl Spreadsheet Format. We have a system of playing the game, whereby we allow all the characters to play all the other characters....we call it A SET. 1 set consists of 288 matches! We've played 20 sets of "best out of three rounds", which equals 5760 battles!! We started on "1 set rounds" about 6 months ago.. We've played 10 sets of this. My friend and I ARE gods at this game, since we don't think anyone in the whole country could say they have the amount of experience playing this game as we do. Now, I'm sure that people are going to mention the arcade game, and that's all well and good. Because of the joystick, I am definitely far worse at the Arcade. If it somehow had a thumbpad, I would absolutely dominate, NO LIE! I did play people at The Midwest Classic, and I was doing Dragon Punches, Flash Kicks, and Sonic Booms pretty good....but not even close to the perfection I feel with a thumbpad. Now here's the thing...I would LOVE to have anyone from the US compete against me at this Playstation game. It would actually be great if THEY kicked MY ass, because I feel that I'm so awesome at the game. Over time, my friend has actually beaten me more at the game, and the statistics show this....although the stats tell it ALL....like what characters I play best as against which ones of his, and EVERYTHING. Saying that we're obsessed with this game is putting it mildly. Super Tennis is another one that I could destroy anyone at.
  19. I like the "member that started the longest/shortest threads" idea for a statistic for sure.
  20. FOR SHAME PEOPLE! I hold the record for the longest time this thread has gone before being revived!! I am the supreme guy! March 7th was when this thread was last responded to. Thanks to the new Statistics feature in this new message board, I responded to this thread. I was hoping that one of my threads would've made it on the "most responded to" list...one almost did: "Relationships: The Great American Conspiracy" Well hey, was that an actual satellite view of the site in Alamongordo whatever place? Is there a site where I could go to zoom in on Alamongordo somewhere in a desert to see what I could see? Um, and the other thing...I don't think it is at all crazy to go looking for the long lost site of Video Game Treasure, and I'd join in too, but I live quite a ways from New Mexico (I live in Minnesota). That would be absolutely GREAT to get a bunch of us together and form an "exavation" team. And have a site devoted to it, journalling the progress. It wouldn't even have to be consecutive days either, it could be over a long time. Like not even digging, but doing the research on it...pinpointing a location, and then slowly beginning to pick away at it. Maybe even purchase the landfill site somehow, through donations. That way it could be excavated completely without legal hassles. LONG LIVE THIS THREAD! I wanted to have my name in one of the longest and most famous threads on the Atariage message board anyways!!!!
  21. How big is the section on Atari 2600? Or Atari in general? Does it have many pictures of Atari 2600 stuff? like superchargers, cuttlecarts, 5200 masterplay interfaces, etc. etc.? Just curious, since I'd consider getting it based on the response to this..
  22. Solaris doesn't work on modern style televisions without vertical adjustment tho. It doesn't work on mine at least, and it isn't PAL either. I went into the menus on my TV and could find nothing to adjust the vertical on it. It pisses me off that they'd make TVs that can no longer adjust vertical like they used to. Course manufacturers don't have Atari 2600 in mind when they make their new modern super great TVs.
  23. So there is no 09 Defender I take it?
  24. Well with collecting anything you have to have some sort of goal or scheme or organizing element involved. I've been collecting games simply based on "fun" since I first started collecting. Except when I'm at the Goodwill I will pick up games that I don't have, just because they are easy to get, and are right in front of me (don't have to deal with the Ebay "hassles") My collecting organization is starting to get thrown into chaos since I started a spreadsheet where all these Atari model numbers are listed. I too would think it would be MEGA cool to have at least all the text labels with the numbers.... Like 01 Combat 02 Air Sea Battle etc. Right now I have 21 Video Olympics 11 Indy 500 Those are the only NUMBERED end labels I have. Just got em yesterday in fact from the Goodwill! I have Combat and Air Sea Battle but they are the picture labels. So I would like to get the 01 Combat and 02 Air Sea Battle because of that collecting scheme Would make for a hell of a display, to have the first ten or all the numbered carts like that!
  25. Thanks, I was looking at Atariage.com by company... It was just odd that CX2614 and CX2619 were missing CX2619 I later discovered from from Sears also. The title is: "Stellar Track". Now this is all very boring, but the real point is that I'd like to collect the first 20 (or maybe even 30, not sure how high I'll go) Atari games. Since CX model numbers are used by Sears, I suppose it is logical for me to pick up these two SEARS cartridges, tho they aren't technically from Atari or something
