Do a trace route, tell us what you see?

I recently have found that Super Pacman supposedly does not work on 4 port Atari 5200's. By "not work" I mean that some doors and power pellets are invisible. So tho you can't play Pitfall! at least you could play this eprom with all the doors, etc. intact.
I don't have a 2 port Atari 5200 (yet).
There are too many other good things about the 2 ports, like supporting the VCS adapter, and working without a special switchbox.
There are, then, positives and negatives about both versions of systems. Having both might be the only best solution to everything
Swapping bios and stuff sounds like way too much hassle.

Charles told me how to open up the Atari 5200, and to adjust the color pot.
I was having issues with putting super pacman in when the cover was not on, so I tried a game like Pitfall! for the 5200, that has an open bottom. The color pot did indeed change the color of the game....
I tried two other positions that were completely different on the pot, and took my time to try each one by putting the lid back on.
Even at the extremes, the doors are still invisible, and pellets too. Also the fruit that you eat is missing the top part of their graphics.
I tried adjusting my TV color also, but was unsuccessful.
I am starting to truly believe it doesn't work on 4 port Atari 5200's. It would be nice to hear from others on the subject.
When I first opened it up, the top lid came detached....and when I put all the screws back in, and then went to reattach the lid, I noticed I couldn't. So I had to remove all the screws again, and put the lid on FIRST. What a hassle

Ironic that I tried Pitfall! as the test game, since the 4 port is the only system that supports this game

Click on the link below.
This is the Super Pac-Man eprom burned copy of the prototype. This guy (Voltman3) did an awesome job on the homemade label!
On the Atari 5200 4 port the locked doors and power pellets don't display (they exist, but aren't visible) for some reason, but on the Atari 5200 2 port this game apparently has these visible.
Has anyone else had this issue with this prototype, or copy of a prototype?
Thanks!

um, Dragon's Lair....
please?

In the program code for this game, 4 lines down and to the right of "EE426" is that a P or an F?
If it is an F it would explain alot, but I'm not gonna go into that.
And what's up with that little sequence of digits on the 43rd line? something wierd like: CtAiPsN' CvRooUzzNppCyyH

Jahfish, what items did you spend that $1400 on? If you can remember that is...
Was it on a rare cart on Ebay, or perhaps a video game cabinet?
As I had said before in other threads, I still hold to the theory that it doesn't really make a difference how much you spend on games (as long as it doesn't interfere with living, like rent or food, etc.) because the items, at least Atari based, retain their value, and often go up in value.
You didn't LOSE the money so to speak, you could sell it back for the same or more.
You can't say the same thing about a purchase like a car, which goes down in value.
So instead of having money in the bank, it is attached to tangible items, like systems and games.
Unless of course a fire ripped through your place, but the same would happen to paper money too. Makes having insurance a necessity if you are into classic gaming I'd say.
If I sold all the stuff that I have gotten to this point since March, I think there's a good chance I could make back all the money.
But would I want to? Hell no! Selling duplicate carts isn't a biggie.
The only reason you'd want to "cry" about spending money on Atari stuff is if you could prove without a doubt that you could NOT get back that money if you SOLD the stuff back to Ebay or whereever.
But let's say I bought a super special tasty chocolate bar made from the best chocolate in the world for $20, and it was so tasty I had a religious experience, should I cry that I spent $19 more than a regular chocolate bar?
The answer is how long do you save money before enjoying it?

I have not read this book. What needed to be said has been.
Off topic, has anyone read Charlotte's Web?
Back on topic, I probably won't be reading this book for a while to come, tho I may change my mind.

50% off at a thrift store....
It is hard to pass up such a great bargain.
The problem is, of course, is there is no way of knowing if a better deal will ever come up again...so at times like that you can end up spending tons of money.
Over the long term, it could save you hundreds, but at the present it could cost you a couple hundred also.
$5 for boxed Sega games? That is a hell of a deal, and even if I weren't collecting for the system at the moment, how could I know I wouldn't eventually collect for it.
I don't know how to solve these dilemmas, and don't envy the situation people have like these!

What if I distributed tee-shirts that had a picture of Infogrames executives selling tee shirts with Atari logos on them?
Or me selling profitable tee shirts depicting executives personally issuing a lawsuit against me and my tee-shirts with pictures of those same executives selling tee shirts with Atari logos on them?
And If I stood in a courtroom, with said tee shirts, would I get an acquital?
Would they say tumble wash warm on them?

Getting Daphne to work sounds impossibly hard...I'm not THAT adept at computing.
Would you describe briefly what you need to get the whole thing working besides the two cds worth of video images.
I expect that it is a program that runs like an animation on a computer (better on a fast one). Mine is a 450 mhz, and doubt I'd get much performance on mine.
I suppose once you have the emulator and video files, it just plays like mame or any other, am I right?

I mean the systems themselves, tho knowing what system plays Dragon's Lair the best is worth knowing too.
Which is best system in general, like graphics, ram, etc. etc.
Out of three systems, how would you rank them:
Playstation (1)
3D0
Atari Jaguar
If I had to rank them I'd say (with 1 being the best general system)
1. Playstation
2. Atari Jaguar
3. 3D0
Do some have specific superior capabilities to the others, even if as a whole they are not as good?
Sorry for the technical question, just a passing curiousity.
Thanks for the fast responses!

Noble, mind providing an itemized list of what all you got for that money?
How long ago did you start collecting (to get up to a total of $1000?)
Any purchases where you overspent on, or purchases that you later regretted?
I would purchase all of the stuff I have again in a heartbeat, if I had the available money
-
Oh I see, you have a sealed Dragon's Lair, I misunderstood. I thought you had a sealed 3D0 entire system.
So in your opinion, what's better: The 3D0 or the Atari Jaguar?
The 3D0 sounds like your favorite.
Even if the 3D0 were better, I'll eventually pick up a Jaguar cuz of this title. I didn't even realize that Jaguar had it.
Is the Jaguar or 3D0 better than the Playstation (1)?
The Jaguar looks like a dam nice system, with good capabilities. It will be collected after I grab a 7800 sometime.
Atari gets all my love
-
Well if there's a jaguar version, then I don't have to stray from my Atari line of collecting. That is awesome.
Your 3D0 is still sealed? You bought one NIB, and are waiting to find one that is not to play off of?
I've done that with some cartridges, I have a NIB version, and a cart and instruction manual combination to play from.
The NIB is for display purposes, and looks awesome.
I'm not sure if this is your case.
-
I'm thinking about collecting the system JUST for this title alone.
What do others think of this?
Has any other even MORE modern systems like XBOX Dreamcast or Playstation 2 had this game?
Is there a better alternative to the Sega CD version, which is the only version I KNOW of, except I did hear of something on the computer.
Can anyone provide me with some information?
When will companies start to realize that they should build on things from the past before trying to make all new wierd things?
Why is Spiderman and Star Wars so wildly popular? And a movie called something random like "Dark Castle Fiend" is a flop at the box office?
Just like a possible Dragon's Lair for Playstation 2 is going to kick the shit out of a game title like (something random), like I don't know: Termination Helix Subnine (the underwater adventure).

The tootsie roll question has been supposedly answered (in all seriousness).
I heard of some high school students who did an experiment, where girls and boys licked toosie rolls.
Look on the internet, I'm sure it is there somewhere.
There was a difference between girls and boys, boys seem to be able to lick to the center in less licks.
I'm sorry I don't have more details, but I'm not making up that I heard of this actual experiment.
The number of licks was somewhere between 100 and 200 (as far as I remember)

What StanJr means by "moving out" is that he switched bedrooms. And even tho many told him it was for the best, his new room doesn't have as good a view of the forested area behind his house.
And that's the real truth.
On a serious note, living on your own simply means you have less money for luxuries (like Atari for example).
If I didn't pay rent of $530 every month, and lived with my parents, think how much Atari stuff I could have then....
Parents are good for "jump-starting" a real life, as far as saving to buy a car, or maybe saving to buy a condo, or any number of things that you can't get if you have to pay for a bunch of expenses.
If I had stayed living with my parents maybe even one more year, I would be "further" along than I am now in acquiring important life objects.

Shame on you Ataripitbull!
Gentlemen, let us together turn our backs on this dishonorable Atarian.
(from Star Trek, like what the Klingons do)

I thought this would be a good idea for a topic, and I'm naturally curious about it too...
In your lifetime, what's the most you've ever spent on Atari 2600 in ONE MONTH.
In related questions...
what's the most you've ever spent on anything Atari in ONE MONTH
And finally...
What's the exact (or estimated) grand total you think you've personally spent on Atari in your lifetime.
I've kept a running total on all of my Atari purchases, but don't want to say how much I've spent on Atari since beginning collecting in early March, until I've heard some other stories from people.
Thanks for sharing!
Any details would be appreciated too, like do you spend more in the wild or on Ebay, etc. etc.

I do not dare to share, even while I tear at my hair.
Yogi Bear.

To give you some idea...I'll submit my buying experience on Ebay about the Atari 5200.
I bought a 4 port Atari 5200 with 14 games for $94.55
That is including shipping, so the actual ending price was somewhere around $75.
The system IS rather heavy.
I think it was a rather good deal (maybe slightly high)...
Considering that I see alot of Atari 5200 games sell for $5
5 times 14= $70
$70 for the system and ONLY pacman sounds like the worse deal I've EVER heard of. He's just being greedy, and doesn't know what the value of classic stuff is.
If it WERE a new in box Atari 5200, I could see it then, but without the box, he's trying to rip you off big time!

Noone here thinks it is odd that we supposedly went to the moon ONLY ONCE?
ONE TIME
ONE TIME
ONE TIME
Isn't this at all wierd? It was back in 1969 for god sakes!
That was 30 ****ing years ago!

I joined in and emailed [email protected]
with a rather "aggressive" letter telling them to take the site down.
