Yay taxes are done. Also Boo.

Major accomplishment(?) at MGC was I finally got all the 3DS Puzzle Swap pieces. That took 10 years. I may never try to StreetPass again.

Alestorm is coming to my city, and I have tickets! Thanks to either @save2600 or @GoldLeader, don't remember which one of your posts/comments introduced me to them about 6 years ago.
-
And Elvenking is opening! I like them too! (YMMV) Looks like the closest they are coming to me would be Omaha, NE but that's an 8 hour drive if memory serves (We did do that once for a concert...)...These days, I'm making sure I have the energy to drive down to Denver Sunday to see my friends' bands play. And that's only 2 hours away

Car battery died - debated calling AAA, but since the car was a manual, I decided to try a clutch pop in reverse, and it worked! Made it to the shop to get a new battery. How many kids today could do that?

@GoldLeader Popping the clutch on a piano truck, a sharp movement for a flat battery.
-
I should note that yes, I usually have done battery changes myself. But this time both terminals were super full of corrosion crud, so I decided I'd rather have someone else deal with that. Also wasn't sure if it was just the battery or an additional problem with the alternator or something, thankfully it was not.

Thanks for all the well wishes for our dog. Today was not the day, the vet had my wife bring her home this morning but they were still waiting on test results. They called later when they got them. They were still bad, so now we are taking her back in tomorrow morning for the end. I'm pretty irritated with them about all this, but at least my wife and I get to spend her last night together with us at home instead of a kennel.
We've had her 11 1/2 years, and she was 3-4 at her rescue age, so she has had a good run and very comfy life.

@SlidellMan Oh, I totally have experienced that too. One of our previous dogs was a German Shepherd. The hips were starting to go. Put rug runners all through the wood floors so he wouldn't slip. However what the final ending was because he got mouth cancer. Amazing dog.
As George Carlin said in one of his bits, "Life is a series of dogs."

Our dog has been at the vet for 2 days. She will probably not come home tomorrow. Everything sucks.
However, she was immortalized a few years ago thanks to @frankodragon

Opinion: Transformers: The Movie is a sloppy plot mess compared to G.I. Joe: The Movie. (1980's animated versions)

PSA: There's a sale on the X-Arcade Tankstick for $150.

Powered up the Jag tonight for some Tempest 2000, it's been a long time.
Then I go look at eBay and I'm almost afraid to play with it anymore!
-
Well this is odd. Mixing gaming and metal collecting hobbies? No, I am not a spokesperson, just noticed it.

Normally I wouldn't post work things, but a customer just asked if I could whitelist their IP of 192.168.1.1. FFS.

@Albert I may just have to reply that I did instead of trying to explain it!

Oh boy, some poor sap used my email to get their boarding pass. Hope they don't miss their flight!
(And no, it's not a phishing email, it's legit)

^ Good Job @thanatos! DISH has pissed me off too, NM Long Story, I like them for the time being, I guess haha... And I used to work there, well Echostar...None of that call center jive though, I was in the Master Control at the Satellite Uplink (which even included the Spacecraft Operations Center), not that I was flying spacecraft mind you (although my ex GF was), I worked on Live Events, automation, and Pay Per View movies etc...
-
@carlsson Shoot, I'd have so much fun with that if it were me! "This shop is Great and the repairs were well-done, wonderful people, but how come some of the techs left their sex doll and some rubber toys in my back seat? Just what were they doing back there?"
-
Is this the first necro-bump that actually has useful information?
-
I'm a year late, but bought a Steam Deck since it was on sale. Seems neat so far - but it's friggen huge!
-
Our old dog is apparently mostly deaf. We didn't have to give the doggie xanax this year, she didn't notice the neighborhood fireworks at all, even while outside.
-
All these buffet incident mentions remind me of the old macaroni and beef email forward. (Language warning!)
-
Ah, yes. A classic. Reminds me of (also NSFW language) anal fissure Bob.
-
Dang. The birthday sidebar doesn't show anymore. Hint hint.

Just shut down a Win 7 PC at home to move it to a different spot. Uptime 440 days. Who says it wasn't stable?

@GoldLeader I just open Task Manager, go to the Performance tab, select CPU and look at the Uptime. Obviously I never needed to reboot it, and it looks like the last power outage that drained the UPS was well over a year ago.
-
Anyone have experience with All-in-one liquid CPU coolers?
I'm looking at a new PC that has one, I'm concerned about reliability/longevity. Current PC is going on 6+ years, but needs to be replaced. I usually build my own, but would rather buy a whole system this time.
-
Just had a Priority Mail package take a month to go from CA to MO. It sat at "moving through system" for 3 weeks. Tried to submit a lost mail form, and it wouldn't let me - "If there are no updates after 11/10, then you can." And this was last week. What the heck?

@ventrra That is exactly what mine looked like, except the date on Moving Through Network was 11/10. Then suddenly last Friday it changed and got updated.

Today my wife sent me a quote someone posted on Facebook. "Every marriage has one person who throws things out, and a garbage-loving chaos goblin who says: "But I was saving that!"
My reply was "That second description sounds more like our dog, without the speaking part."

Not sure which part makes me feel old the most - that Star Trek TNG premiered 35 years ago, or that I recorded it on Betamax.

Going to the Missouri Game Con tomorrow - a 1 day con from only 10-6, with no alcohol... That's a big difference from MGC.
But it's local and only $15 to get in.
