Heh, this seems to be an evergreen topic -- I found this when looking for the 2018 version.
Hah, wow. What a necro-bump! Could be a record breaker.
Well, when this thread was new, my collection was definitely nowhere near where it is now! And everything else was so different. No flatscreens. The 'big' TV was 32". What's HDMI? Hah suckers, my work pays for a T-1 line to my house, 1.5 megabits down AND up, baby!

SainT: enjoy the summer while you can. The Jaguar is nearly 25 years old, we can wait for the SD cart a bit longer.
I've spent the last three weeks working 7 days a week. That, the heat and the bright sun with clear sky outside (something that rarely happens where I live) makes even a indoors-type guy like me angry to be stuck inside.
It _IS_ 25 years old. The latest Retro Gamer mag has a 2 page blurb. And that makes me feel old. But so does everything else now.

Ok... Fine, November '93. Technicality...

Waiting for KFC to get the inevitable cease and desist...
illustrative-purposes-only.jpgAlthough really, all they should need to do is put the phrase "All IP shown is the trademarked property of their respective owners and is depicted for illustration purposes only" on their video, and they should be good to go.
(Feel free to make jokes about how KFC's console is somehow actually more believable than Atari's.)
Well that's just a weird coincidence. We had KFC for dinner last night!
Pretty sure that's 2600 Pac-Man sound effects when that scene pops up too.

The unoriginally titled AtariAge magazine (no relation to this fine site or the official pamphlet of 1980s Atari) has been posted. Mr. Gabrys showing a lot of nerve by putting a on it.
Compressed from 64MB to 11MB, because this doesn't have to be that large.
385170517-Atari-Age-Magazine-July-2018.compressed.pdf"Magazine"? It's an oversized brochure.

We played it as kids and enjoyed it plenty. The reputation is mostly amplified by people talking about it in modern times that never played it back in the day.

What is the the over / under on total number of posts on this thread ? :0
A co worker mentioned she was having fish tacos for dinner..
I thought of this thread...
Weird :0
It will go as long as the project is still alive. The Chameleon thread lost its steam when it was finally cancelled.

Hah! You gave enough clues to remind me of that damn game.
And yes, I have also watched the walkthroughs on youtube.
I spent hours wandering aimlessly through that one many years ago. It haunted me.

Sounds like NES Legacy Of The Wizard.
I could never figure out what the hell to do in that.

Also, what's up with the baddies staying at the top of the tunnel when you die? That just makes this 10x harder. It's almost cruel.
Yeah, I'm not good at this game at all.

-The controls. Eh, I kind of miss the precision of Tempest 2000 here. This game incorporates momentum into the controls, so I find myself kind of doing this swinging around motion. Kind of gliding and never actually stopping, so you swing back and forth to grab the powerups. I'm sure I'll get use to it, but prefer the classic controls for now.Maybe Nuclear Pacman discovered why I don't like the thumbstick if this also applies to the D-Pad. You have to apply opposite motion to stop, it is definitely less precise.
-
I like it so far, but I don't like having to use the thumbstick, D-pad doesn't work. This is with a 360 controller on Steam. It's too sloppy for me.

Dang. Should have started reading some of the early reviews and comments for the PC version first. Apparently issues with refresh rate lock and no options to customize controls.
Eh, I would have bought it anyway though.

I'm announcing that I will make an announcement about an announcement that will announce the announcing of an important announcement.
First you need a press release.

Dang, noticed that video is almost 2 years old with no more submitted by that guy. Probably an abandoned project.
-
Wow, I don't check the Vectrex forum enough! This looks awesome.
-
One more on the D-pad list for me. I have 2 different rotaries but still do better with the regular controller.
-
That's awesome! I love the modern graphics mixed with the original interface.

i recovered my old atari from my parents and found a concorde video spelcassette with a little label saying megamania on it.
i googled megamania and i remember playing it.
i couldnt confirm it is working.
i have not found the powersupply to the console.
if it works and its megamania on it it could be a totally new discovery.
what if it is a holy grail with only 1 out there?
How many more threads are you going to spam this to?

How much is too much?

It's probably nearing too much when you open a storage container, see an unexpected game and think "When the hell did I buy that?"
Also, when you buy a game, go to put it in a storage location or shelf, and see you already have one. Or two. Which, to prevent happening again, you start a spreadsheet. Then your wife asks "Are you really entering your games into a spreadsheet right now?"
