I always try to find good Chicago style pizza when I venture north. St. Louis style pizza is an abomination. Are there any good places in the area of the convention?

Don't forget ... you can get a real Ataribox for less than $34, shipped. The nice Activision one, too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/123012418839
Wait, why are they going for way less than the store price? Did they already fail? (Saw a gold version at Target and passed on it so far.)

Guess the news means keeping the thread bumped with taco pictures is slightly less necessary for a while!
Slightly.

For some unknown reason the big thread about this is in the Intellivision/Aquarius forum.

Very cool item!

That's fine. You're under no moral or legal obligation to re-sell back at any specified price or anything.
I have a complete IIgs setup with accelerators, memory, superdrive, monitor, and various bits and pieces and more. I cash-advanced the guy some $300 or $400 back in the dot-com era. I told him it would be there in the future if he ever wanted it back. So far I have been unable to locate him to offer it back. Eventually I'll call it my own. But for now it sits..
Pretty sure that was me. I'm ready to take it back now.

I remember going to DefCon many moons ago as a dumb 18 year old. Thankfully, tech wasn't high enough where there was wi fi or cell phones to be completely bled of all info and identity due to my oversight.
I went to DefCon way back in 2003. It was a pretty cool experience. No smartphones, but I had this with a WiFi card.

I had the Entex Space Invader (and still do!) as well. I remember many a rainy weekend afternoon taking forever to get up to 999.
Also have the Tomy baseball that had a red LED, but the gameplay is mechanical. I assume that's the one I had first since it's older.

Smach Z real soon now
https://liliputing.com/2018/03/smach-z-handheld-gaming-pc-pre-orders-open-march-15th-629.html
I would love a little pocket-sized Windows PC, but only if it were $250 or less. This thing starts at $629.
Ooh, they have a 'non working prototype' even. I'll wait...
-
Ok, scored one. They had to go in the back to get them, they weren't on the shelves yet.
I like that you can save the game and come back to it later. Wasn't expecting that!

I didn't realize until today that there's a hacker convention overlapping on that Friday.
I think I'll be leaving my phone off that evening... I'd also recommend no one connect to any "Free Wi-Fi!" hotspots in the convention center.

What the... How did I miss this thread? Going to Target at lunch and hoping they're not all gone!
--edit.. Oh, it's in the Intellivision/Aquarius forum. That's how I missed it.

Nice stuff!
My only suggestion would have been to include the ribbon cable with the disk drives instead of the Disto controller.

Oh my. I've had a swollen battery or two (TWSS), but never one that made me rush it out of the house. And that one certainly would have!
-
I remember seeing the el cheapo Midway cab at Target and noping the hell out when I inspected the build. Crappy crt TV inside, connected by AV inputs. I think it was even marked down to $100 or so.
Recently I have seen 2 different arcade sellers trying to get $500 for used ones.
These new cabs look interesting. I'd have to see one in person or see some legit reviews, but I would probably go for the Asteroids one.

5 whole minutes??? Wow...

Pretty happy about this one..Steeplechase from 1974. It's even working already, which saves me from a lot of future obscenities.

Did you find this on St. Louis craigslist? I could swear I remember seeing that one posted a long time ago.

The 3000 also boots up, thankfully my rough battery removal last night didn't hurt anything (nor did the battery kill the machine!)
I only plugged in to the bottom video out. There are 2 other cards in this one, and I have no idea what they are. I can't see any text on them. Also, had no keyboard. The 4000 keyboard has a different plug. But I could move around the mouse fine and launched a couple programs and games from the hard drive.
-
I opened up both of them. The 4000 appears to have two IDE drives! The 3000 has one drive, I assume SCSI.
The 4000 has a coin cell on the board which looks fine. The battery in the 3000 did not look bad, a couple crystals on one end. (I understand the ancient NiCad thing, did the same work on my Neo-Geo MVS)
I still took it out, hopefully not breaking anything. It has 3 add on boards in it so it was a little tough to get to.
I took more pics of the internals of both, but I won't be able to add those until tomorrow. I have already stayed up later than I should have on a work night.

I got my brother's old 16K Coco2 and his 128K Coco3... How hard would it be to upgrade the Coco2's memory these days?
Adam
Easy pull the 8 16k chips and replace with 64k 4164s. The next step depends on which rev board is in it. See
http://users.digitalindigo.net/techno/coco2.html
If you buy a 512k upgrade for the CoCo3 (Check out the Triad from www.cloud9tech.com), you have to pull the old RAM chips out, and if you have a 2-chip CoCo2, the ones you pull out can upgrade it to 64k.

As the title says, I have recently acquired an Amiga 4000 and a 3000 system. Only one monitor/keyboard/mouse with the set though.
Sadly the circumstances are because it was a friend who passed away recently. His sister would have just thrown it all out until she heard I was interested.
I have powered up the 4000 tonight, and it boots off the hard drive. Before I do anything, I was wondering if there was a good way to image it. I'm assuming it's the original hard drive. I'd rather not peruse through his personal stuff, but I also don't want to risk losing any important data on an old hard drive, he did do some programming on it back in the day. I won't power it back on again until I hear if there is something I should do to copy the data safely.
Also, if there is anything I should look into right away to make sure the hardware has been maintained correctly, that would be helpful too.
Here's a picture of it booted up. It went to this file management system, and I figured out how to close it out, and it went to the Amiga workbench after that. I am also worried that I didn't figure out a way to shut it down correctly, is that a thing on Amigas? (I just turned it off)

New Atari Console that Ataribox?

OK. I just thought that bowl of well done looking steak would have been more acceptable as sirloin.
