Great topic!
When I had my 2600 as a kid, me and my sister used to do the very same thing with Skydiver.
I don't remember any other instances like that, but you could make the argument that playing Pacman on the VCS in any manner was "playing the wrong way" because it was so different from the arcade version.

My first Jag game of 2003 was a rousing game of Defender 2000 (plus, actually). This would have gone better if I hadn't been drinking champagne.....
Thunderbird - are you going to release another run of Battlesphere? If so, is there a preorder list or anything, or a means to prepay for the game? I'm dying to get this...

Try this guy out. I've purchased several things from him and have been very happy.
Fast shipping and best of all, he is a straight up guy. I wanted to purchase a 5200 from him and he quoted 45 bucks for a two port with working joysticks, but since he could only provide one working stick (and because a hinge on the joystick cover was broken - easily fixed with superglue, btw) he sold me the 5200 for $20. He also threw in a free copy of Pacman too.

On Ebay I'm Doggymot.

You should be able to purchase a modem or broadband adaptor at any retailer that sells PS2s, but I'd imagine you'll need to wait a bit for them to be restocked because of Christmas. If you have a Software Ect. close by, give them a call and they'll tell you when their next shipment will be coming in.

I couldn't agree more with you guys. I've bought a few things from the AA store and was impressed not only with the product, but with the fast shipping.
I'm looking forward to picking up some stuff again in January.

Commando and Ikari Warriors are definately better on the 7800. Commando in particular is much more fun on the Atari. The NES version flickers enough to start the onset of a seizure and I HATE the way your character can't walk behind scenery in the game like bridges or trees.
My biggest dilemna though is Galaga. While the NES version is by far the prettier game with sprites much closer to the arcade, ugly flicker again rears its head. Otherwise NES Galaga is a really good game. Although I have my NES and 7800 hooked up together on the same TV, I always tend to play more Atari Galaga. I love the fast levels past 10 and the wider playfield of the 7800 version. So in this case I have to go with the 7800 version since it's just more fun to play.

I think I remember reading a post on Minter's Llamasoft forums from a former Crawfish employee that the company went under because BAM Entertainment did not pay for development work Crawfish provided. It was a lot of money and Crawfish's closing caught the game coders completely by surprise.
It's sad.

I'd like one too. Got outbid during the last auction

No clue and apparently, neither does the seller.
According to my rough translation of his description:
"Strange and super+rare module, manufacturer unknown, no notion from
where or why... functions! Consider also my other ATARI auctions!"

Thomas, sorry to hear about this. I've never bought anything from Hozer, but you can rest assured that I never will now. His attitude as well as actions prove he's not to be dealt with.
When I have a bit of extra cash to purchase Thrust, I'll do it here at AA.
The older I get, the less amazed I am at people with no honor or pride.

Blowing on carts is bad due to the moisture in your breath.

Ouch. I had no idea dealing with Buy-Rite was such a bad idea. Thanks for the input everyone. I'f I don't hear from them by next week, I'll call my Credit Card company and get my money back.
Whether I get my stuff or not, I'll never order from them again.
-
Soapboxes are good!
Actually, I used a credit card for the payment, so they have no excuse for the lateness of the shipment. Oh well. I'll give them a bit more time and then do as you suggested....
BTW....I would have ordered from you guys, but you didn't have the games I wanted at the time. Bummer.
But there's always the future.

I recently purchased a few Jag games from buyritegames.com and after weeks of waiting with no games, decided to drop them an email checking on the status of my order.
Three days later and I still haven't heard back from them one way or the other. Normally I'd write this sort of thing off to the Holiday season and associated sales carnage, etc...But, I had also emailed them a question a month or so ago inquiring about a hardware purchase - and never heard back on that as well.
So my question is - have any of you guys or gals purchased from Buy-Rite and how was your experience? I just think it's odd that they won't answer email requests on a paid order.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but I just would like to know what's up with my games!

Just purchased a 5200 and was wondering if anyone had a dual joystick holder and/or a Masterplay interface they would be willing to sell. If so, please drop me a PM.
Thanks!

So I'm out looking for any sort of games at one of our Goodwill stores in town tonight when I stumbled across a copy of Atari Force just sitting face up on one of the book shelves.
Although I'd like to think I was (and am) a pretty big videogame and Atari geek, I've never heard of the comic. It's pretty funny reading though, with Atari logos spread throughout and references to the 260000 computer on the hero's spaceship, etc.
The comic seemed so lonely when I found it. My wife said it was like it was waiting for me......
Here are some scans:

Great job!

Just an FYI for anyone looking for a more modern take on Robotron, Llamatron, and other twitch shooters of the like...check out this URL for Mutant Storm. It features a nine-level demo for your downloading pleasure. I think it's a great game and have ordered the full version.
I'd be interested to know what you guys think.
Here's the link.....

What a cool find. No matter how you slice it, free is still the best.
I wish I could get some luck like that here, but the Atari scene has pretty much dried up.
-
WOW!!!
Your collection is great. I never fail to be impressed by a Jaguar Kiosk.
-
Good to know!
I played the demo at a Gamecube Kiosk a while back and found it to be really fun during the little time I had with the game.
And luckily, me and the missus are about ready to go pick up our copy at the local Software Etc. here in a bit.

If store sales help AA, that's where I'll shop first for my gaming needs. I haven't bought much from AA, but each time I have has been a great online purchase. The items ship fast and unlike Ebay, you get a great deal on shipping.
And a bit off topic - but I'm continually amazed at how cool this site is and what a great job the Als have done.

The Ms. Pacman team idea was a great one!
Although it wasn't for nearly as worthy a cause - when I was in college back in 87, I used to hook up my brand new 7800 to the 52 inch TV in my dorm's common room and me and my friends would play Food Fight and Galaga. It always drew lots of attention and everyone wanted to play.....
Ah, the memories.
These days my wife thinks I'm a bit odd for all the gaming I do on all my Atari consoles.
