Afterburner II.
BTW, if anyone is interested, Sega Ages for the Saturn has perfect translations of Afterburner, Space Harrier and Outrun all on one beautiful CD.

Another great strip!

Sounds great! It's excellent that you have a store now. I also want to get Thrust once I have a bit of extra cash.

You use the two 7800 joysticks for Robotron exactly as the arcade machine. Movement is controlled with the left stick and you fire with the right stick. It's great fun and really improves gameplay!
-
I've always loved Robotron, but I just couldn't come to grips with the standard 7800 controllers without a good joystick holder.
So....I finally hit on the idea to get some cheap utility clamps from Walmart and simply attached the joysticks to a hard surface. The result really surprised me because the Joysticks work perfectly in this configuration!
In fact, if you rest your hands on either side of the joysticks, it really feels a lot like an arcade machine (as long as the clamps are tight and the sticks don't move). This works well for me and it finally gives me an excuse to use my standard joysticks (I pretty much use an old Slik-Stick or joypad controllers for everything else).
For any Robotron fans out there, I highly recommend trying something like this. Any hard surface will do (TV tray, board, etc.) and it is really cheap.
Here are a couple of pics:

Great cartoon! I was wondering when she would exact her revenge.....

While I agree that FPS are better on a PC, I don't mind playing them on the PS2, etc. And since you can pretty much hook any usb keyboard and mouse to the PS2 (I did this for Unreal Tournament, at least) you're not always stuck using the control pad.

I just received the free I-War cart in the mail and I just wanted to say "thank you!" It's certainly not the best game I've ever played, but I gotta say it's pretty fun. Besides, the "Damage Critical" voice cracks me up every time I hear it.
Thanks again!

Hey Jet Boot, do you have a boxed Lynx 2 by chance?
-
The only thing I have that even resembles a rare game for the 2600 is Star Wars: TAG. Sad. Really.
-
Right now my favorite is Star Wars The Arcade Game. After that I think I'd have to go with Phoenix and Solaris.

If you take an S-Video cable from an N64 it will fit into the back of your full size SNES and viola, you get really great video from your SNES. What I meant by "blurry" was using an RCA connection instead. Seriously, if you guys haven't done it, you have to get S-Video for your SNES. The difference is incredible.
-
I was looking for a mini too prior to getting my fullsize SNES. But I had to go with the bigger model because the smaller SNES doesn't support S-Video.
I really wanted the little one, but I couldn't justify the blurrier picture. Just thought you should know in case this sort of thing matters to you...

I've been looking to add a Pro-controller to my collection, but haven't found any on Ebay lately and B&C Computing hasn't answered my email asking if they have any in stock....
So. Do any of you fine folks have a new Pro-controller you'd be willing to part with? If so, let me know. I'd prefer to use Paypal if possible, for the sake of convenience.
I hope someone has one.....I'm itching to try D2000 and Fight for Life with something more than three buttons!

I'd like the copy of Iwar......
Let me know how much shipping will be.....
This is awfully nice of you, btw.

I'm guessing if anyone buys this lot, we'll be seeing a bunch of Atari Karts carts (say that 10 times fast) on Ebay for awhile...

Considering anyone in the country can buy a new PS2 for $199, you might want to reconsider your price.
Not trying to be rude or anything, but just thought you should know. Resale price on a PS2 is probably closer to $150.
BTW, how did you get your Neo gear?
-
If you like fighters, definately get Soul Calibur (3D) and Garou, Mark of the Wolves (2D). Both are outstanding and the only reasons I still play our Dreamcast which we got when it was first released.
-
Actually, the 3D missle shooting game (I forget the actual title) was outstanding. Graphics notwithstanding, the 3D effect was the best ever in a videogame.
And R-Type was a great conversion of a great game. The graphics were detailed and the game was faithful to its arcade parent. In fact, I played the snot out of the SMS version of R-Type while I was in college and it was the major reason I recall the system fondly to this day.
Just my two cents.

All I can say about this is "wow!"
If all the common stuff I had sold for prices like this, I'd never have to work!

B&C Computer Visions sells 7800 power supplies for $20. You might check them out.
Hope this helps.
-
So, now that I know it's cheap, the question remains....is it fun?
-
I saw that someone mentioned that he would pay $100 for Gravitar. Is this for real? Just curious because I know a place in town that has it sealed in a box for $5.
I didn't think it was that rare, really, and I normally want games for my 7800 and Jag more than 2600 stuff so I didn't give it much thought....
But, if it is a cool game I wouldn't mind having it.

Welcome!
I too discovered Atari (and Videogames) in my youth. I'm in the process of rebuilding the collection I had (2600, 7800, Jaguar), and am loving every minute of it...
It's always cool to find people who like this stuff.

lynx vs. 7800
in Atari Lynx
Posted
The Lynx actually is noticably more powerful than a 7800. All you need to to is compare ports of Robotron or Klax on each system to get an idea of what I mean.
The Lynx could support sprite scaling which was used to great effect in several games such as Electrocop. It also could display a lot of color for the time.
Not that the 7800 isn't great - but the Lynx is a (technically) better system that was hampered by Atari's DOA marketing campaign and typical poor mismanagement. Shame really, because until the Gameboy Advance, the Lynx was basically the most powerful handheld for more than ten years.
Imagine what could have been if Atari had given it the attention it deserved.
