How much was the PSOne? It wasn't obviously labeled and I didn't ask. Sorry. -

Tag sale: Tetris 2 for SNES, $0.50 There was also a "PS One" model Playstation and a few obvious games (Gran Tarismo 2...) but I have one and I don't need another. My wife even admitted it was fun poking around for stuff! -

Worry not, those M Network games only had end lables like their Intellivision cousins. Welcome to the pack-rat thread by the way! Thanks! I'm much more of an NES-and-newer collector (I wasn't even alive when half the Atari stuff came out) but they were there and cheap and I have the system to play them on! -

My first ever post in this thread, my first ever thrift find! (I'm new to this collecting thing). From Goodwill, all loose, all 2600: 2 Combat carts, left them behind. RealSports Football Activision Skiing Video Pinball International Soccer (looks like it should have a front label, which it doesn't) Super Challenge Baseball (also looks like it should have a front label) QBert (I can't make this one work, but I haven't cleaned well yet). $1.35/ea Awesome. -
What is your favorite Playstation 1 game?

I have a copy of Loaded, with the box (not sure about the book, I've never actually opened it). Is it actually good? -

I really think that, in order to count, the stack needs to actually boot. And damnit, I wish I hadn't lost my 32X in a move! -
MY NES I think its Dead... :(
MFoolsRun replied to MrAtari2600's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Heh. Yeah, the original connectors, if they can be salvaged, are better than the replacements. -
It is technically an abrasive, but it's a spongy material at least at the macro-scale. I'm not sure if it would leave, say, swirl marks on the NES. I'll test it on a confirmed-broken NES and report back.

Ooh! Magic eraser! Great idea! I'll give that a shot!

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Followed closely by Super Metroid. The two best games for the SNES.

MY NES I think its Dead... :(

Well if it worked with my pressing-down suggestion, your connector needs to be adjusted, cleaned, or replaced. Read this guide on how to adjust the contacts using a safety pin to bend them a little. It can take some time, but three of my NESes now boot without even having to press the game down after inserting it after using this trick. -

So does it work now? Did you try any of our suggestions? -

Something is still not connecting. Open the system back up, take off the metal shield, plug the system in, press down on the back of the game, near the connector, and turn it on. Do you get picture then? -
Ascii mad a fantastic one-handed controller for the Playstation; great for pre-analogue-stick RPGs. I found one on clearance at Kay Bee Toys about seven years back; it totally beats the contortions I used to make to eat while playing Xenogears.

Damn, now I really want Metal Storm!

Requesting help in repairing 2 dead Super Nintendo decks
MFoolsRun replied to Ace_1's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Unless I'm wrong, you're asking how to tell the difference between an SNES and an SNES2? They look different: SNES SNES2 -
Hi, I've done some googling, but I figure you guys probably have experience with this: I have a small collection of NES games that I've gotten from various sources. The outsides of these games are pretty uniformly filthy. I'd like to clean them without too much effort, and without peeling the label. Does anyone have some insight beyond the arduous task of hitting each groove with a q-tip?

I fixed two of my NESes tonight using Tyler Willis guide above! I disabled the lockout chips and scrubbed the 72-pin connectors (and adjusted the contacts) and scrubbed every game with isopropyl (I didn't disassemble them only because I don't have a gamebit). And every game booted perfectly the first time. My huge stack of untestable games has now been tested and every single one worked on the first try. Thanks for this thread, everyone, it's been a huge help!

If you just want to test your cartridges, and/or you aren't a stickler for the games looking and sounding exactly like you remember, buying a Yobo or other Nintendo-on-a-chip system might serve you better than trying to repair your NES. Otherwise, The Electric Quarter sells replacement connectors, and I've had good experience buying from them in the past. I want to test them with the goal of keeping the working ones and using them on a real NES (I'm a sucker for the spectacle). Thanks for the reference, I'll check them out!

I have a pile of NES games in questionable repair that I have no way of testing because my toaster is unreliable. I don't have a local GamesXChange, is eBay a reliable source for connectors? Is there a particular eBay seller you could recommend?

Top ten most underrated games ever
MFoolsRun replied to Math You's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah, Grim Fandango may not have sold well, but undersold and underrated are vastly different things. Beyond Good and Evil falls into the same sort of category: it didn't sell well, but nobody denies that its a superb game. -
Grim Fandango. Easy call.
