Let me evaluate during the weekend. No promises though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi. No, it uses the standard controller. SAC are scarce and too unreliable. I had a pair out of box and they didn’t work well, so I didn’t think it is worth the effort to support it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There is some talk going on. Fingers crossed...

The new boards are here! SGM2 and cartridge. Let’s start beta testing it and get this thing released. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am shocked. Let’s try to fix this ASAP.

Yes, we will rerelease next year. Many many request. One thing holding us back was our custom PCB which required programming the game in the factory, which means low volumes were prohibitive. Now we have a new PCB that we can program as required. That makes low runs possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

WIP...

Thank you! You know, I must confess. Bubble Bobble is the kind of challenge I would love to take. We have been gravitating towards the same old same pre-crash arcade stuff for decades now. Yes, we love them, but maybe it is time to try some more advanced stuff.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This post reminds me why I mostly left the ColecoVision scene. I sense the bitterness here. Why should I care? Am I a tool, where if you don’t get what you want from me you don’t like me? If I say Castlevania is coming out for the OMNI, someone posts “release it for the Phoenix”. I say no and the person gets upset, we should be a community! I will try to deliver whatever major broken promises I have made next year and move on to new life, OMNI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

VGA dot clock is 25.17Mhz. If you divide that by 4 (320x240 resolution) you get 6.29Mhz. So that gives you an idea of the PAR. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don’t think that is how it works, unless you adjust your CRT to compress the image. Dot clock is 5.37Mhz on the TMS. A square pixel requires a dot clock of 6.14Mhz. I know that because OMNI uses that clock and we played with a number of clocks including 5.37. So pixel in a real TMS is indeed wider than taller. So F18A suffers from the fact it started as a VGA compatible device. Unless that changed with the new HDMI version and I am not aware of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am talking about pixel aspect ratio (PAR), which is 1.143 in the TMS9918, meaning the pixel is wider than taller. F18A is probably VGA, with PAR of 0.975 (slightly taller than wider). So CV games using F18A look horizontally compressed.

Alright, 2 votes for MoG. That is mostly done anyways. And with that I hope to get 5 of my promised but never released stuff out next year. Fingers crossed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok, noted about Maze of Galious. Noted about the CV hardware. I understand where you coming from, but I am sure there are still purists out there that prefer the original, particularly for the fact that F18A doesn’t display the proper aspect ratio of the Texas video chip, AFAIK. But I understand some of the other issues. As for SGM2, we designed the cartridge so that games can be programmed locally, so that cartridges for any game can be produced at any time. I am rethinking things. MSX stuff is now saturated. May guarantee a color line release, not premium releases with expensive packaging. Pac-Man DX is a sure thing since it is done since 2018 and packaging was printed in 2016. Lady Bug is still an option. But I would like to push the envelope a bit, do some stuff you can’t get anywhere else. Pengo was done like 30%. Arkanoid about 80%. But those are fairly simple ports, hardly pushing any envelope. And with SGM2/OMNI coming, I would like stuff that can be shared between platforms, since I am just one guy (for the time being). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you were going to ask me anything ColecoVision game or hardware related, what would it be? (Other than DK, which we aren’t going to openly discuss here). I am planning for 2020. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That can be done since OMNI includes an expansion port. Problem is, considering tooling costs, of there would be enough demand to justify such a module. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It doesn’t matter where the graphics are coming from, he is using Nintendo characters to create his game. Otherwise we could have 3rd party expansion packs for virtually any game in existence, while I can give you dozens of examples where expansions were shut down. I could pig back on existing Nintendo games to create new ones for example, as long as I am loading the 3D models from the original game. We know that isn’t the case. So again, in DIIK’s case, Nintendo just doesn’t care enough to pursue any legal action. The website is still online and uses Nintendo copyrighted material like illustrations. And it is still there. This conversation isn’t going anywhere, so let’s just leave it here. Thanks for the feedback Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

http://allincolorforaquarter.blogspot.com/2012/12/ms-pac-man-and-super-missile-attack.html It is just not worth the legal trouble compared to any financial benefit I would say. Sort of legal limbo that would require a lot of legal resources to justify pursuing. If Atari could do this decades ago, I am pretty sure Nintendo also could now if they wanted. In this case they just don't care.. The DIIK developer is still using Nintendo characters to create his enhanced version. Now, we got DK for the ColecoVision back in 82, so I wonder if we can use the same backdoor as DIIK....

yes it's exactly the same thing: Nintendo IP. Edouardo should get the rights from Nintendo to release it. Of course they don’t license, even if I could afford. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok, no more comments on the topic. If anything happens, you will know via newsletter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What I meant was, it is easy to enforce trademark violations, like someone using the Donkey Kong name. Not so easy to enforce violations based on look and feel. That usually requires going to the court. So maybe not worth pursuing unless there is a lot of money involved. That would explain something as popular as DKII still being around. No, I want to offer the packaged game, with a different name. DKDX. Hush hush, no web exposition. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think I had an idea. Brainstorming here with Grazi.... You are probably aware of DKII - Jumpman’s Return. Well, they sell kits, website and all. Nintendo doesn’t seem to have a problem with that. And I understand why, it is much easier to enforce trademarks than copyrights based on look and feel. So... How about DKDX?

Yes, all SGM2/OMNI cartridges can save.
