Looking for used Coleco made Colecovision cartridges...
opcode replied to opcode's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hey, thanks for your help! Opcode -
In order to make my Space Invader Collection project viable, I am now looking for used common Coleco cartridges. In trade I will offer discounts or ever a free SIC game package. The whole thing would work this way: 10 used Coleco cartridges - a free SIC game. Less than 10 used cartridges - a proportional discount on SIC (for example, 5 used games - 50% discount). But please note I will just accept ColecoVision cartridges made by Coleco itself, with the plastic shell in good condition. The game doesn't need to be working, neither the label needs to be in good condition. Please mail me for more details. [email protected] Opcode

Hi there! I bought a sealed copy of Fireworld a while ago, but the game just came with the manual; no comic book or poster. I have read about Atari repackaging the game this way after the swordquest was over. Also my box has no "play the 150,000 swordquest challenge" stick. So my question is: may I assume all Fireworld boxes with no contest stick will come without the comic book? Eduardo Mello

Thanks for all responses. Ever if it isn't possible to say a box with a barcode will contain a blue label cart, it is surely possible to say a box "without" a barcode will contain a original release label, right? By the way, do you have a new copy of Space Shuttle to sell? No need to be sealed, just unused.

Hi everyone, I own a boxed copy of Activision's Space Shuttle that is plain blue label and has no command "overlay" included. I am now looking for the original version, with illustrated label, color manual and commands "overlay". But since I want a sealed copy, does anyone know how to identify the original release just looking at the box? I have found barcodes are a good indication of re-released Activision games (usually plain blue labels), but it just applies to games released prior to Plaque Attack. Robot Tank and Decathlon re-releases can be spotted by that "Not to be used with 7800" stick. But how about Space Shuttle? Eduardo Mello

I am currently looking for a new in box copy of 2600's Pole Position. Ok, so you will say it is pretty simple, there are hundreds of copies for auction at eBay right now... But I am looking specifically for the Atari "Inc" version of the game, made back in 1983. The problem is Atari Corp package for this game looks a lot like the original release. I am tired of sending emails to sellers asking them to check the box back for dating. Since I have never seen the original box myself, I would appreciate if someone here can tell me an easy way to spot the original version just from seeing a box front artwork picture. Thanks, Eduardo Mello

Hi there! I am glad to announce Ryan Amos is the first winner for my ColecoVision TRON contest. He was able to accurately spot every TRON reference included with my PC4 demo, ever the "Space Paranoids" name among the several others arcade titles, a feat few contestants were able to archive. Congrats Ryan! I will randomly pick the other winner now. All contestants were given an entry number. Entry numbers were assigned based on time of the entry. First entry was given number 00. 00 RetroGames -R- Us Tuesday, April 01, 2003 12:37 PM 01 Steve Logan Tuesday, April 01, 2003 12:45 PM 02 Chris Elkin Tuesday, April 01, 2003 1:20 PM 03 Brett Gladson Tuesday, April 01, 2003 1:25 PM 04 Dennis Debro Tuesday, April 01, 2003 1:36 PM 05 scottith Tuesday, April 01, 2003 1:45 PM 06 Chris W Tuesday, April 01, 2003 2:36 PM 07 Anthony Norkus Tuesday, April 01, 2003 3:02 PM 08 Will Berdan II Tuesday, April 01, 2003 3:36 PM 09 Steve Jacobs Tuesday, April 01, 2003 3:30 PM 10 John Draugr Tuesday, April 01, 2003 4:53 PM 11 fred Tuesday, April 01, 2003 5:07 PM 12 Luke Kalbach Tuesday, April 01, 2003 5:22 PM 13 Michael Tripp Tuesday, April 01, 2003 5:55 PM 14 Micky Green Tuesday, April 01, 2003 7:40 PM 15 Russ Perry Jr Tuesday, April 01, 2003 9:22 PM 16 Ben Langberg Tuesday, April 01, 2003 11:21 PM 17 Paul Goff Tuesday, April 01, 2003 11:41 PM 18 quemen Wednesday, April 02, 2003 12:03 AM 19 Bruce Consolazio Wednesday, April 02, 2003 4:10 PM 20 Tristan Hyodo Wednesday, April 02, 2003 6:18 PM 21 linda richardson Wednesday, April 02, 2003 9:50 PM 22 Brad Jewell Thursday, April 03, 2003 8:57 AM 23 Adam Koehn Friday, April 04, 2003 4:31 PM To find the winner I took the check sum number for my CV demo. The hexadecimal number is: 271d8e Which is the same as the decimal number: 2563470 Dividing this number by the number of contestants and taking the rest of this division: 2563470 mod 24 = “6” So Chris W has grabbed the second copy. Congrats both winners. You are going to receive your carts around July/August. It's because I just will get the necessary cartridge parts by July. Till there please send me your addresses. Thanks everyone for participating. Eduardo Mello

Hi! This cart isn't going to be sold anywhere. It's a demo that I did for PC4... Hmm... Ok, lets do this way: I will give away two copies. The first one goes to the most complete TRON reference list. The second one I will pick randomly. Just send me an email. All entries with TRON lists will be automatically eligible for the random drawing too. This way if you send me a TRON list your chances to win will be greater. If nobody sends me a TRON list, I will give away just a copy. Eduardo Mello -

Ooops! The two big gif files were downloaded in swapped order... demo1.gif comes first. Eduardo Mello -
I posted a new contest here a few days back but I didn't get a single reply. So, I will give you a last chance to win this exclusive cardridge. Otherwise it's going the eBay route. Maybe the problem was few people were able to see my tech demo at PC4. So I have decided to post several pictures here showing several of the demo key moments. It will be enough to spot about every reference... The contest is simple: just send me a list of every TRON reference you're able to find in these pictures... Just a cartridge will be given away, so it will become a very rare item soon. If I get more than a complete list, I will pick randomly a winner. I will accept entries till Friday. Good luck! Please send responses to [email protected] Eduardo Mello

Any comments about PC4? New releases, interesting tidbits? Please, tell us what was cool and what wasn't. I am very curious... Eduardo Mello

It looks like there is just a CV at DP booth. So, if you don't see the demo there, just ask Joe for it. Unfortunately I forgot my Phoenix book at home... Eduardo Mello

Please, send us some more news... (and pictures) It will be a sad Saturday for me, as I wasn't able to attend... Eduardo Mello -
Ok, looks like this year's PhillyClassic will attract a lot of TRON fans since Cindy Morgan will be making an appearance there. In anticipation for this, I have created a little ColecoVision tech demo, which will be showcased at Digital Press booth during PC4. This demo was mainly created to promote Space Invaders Collection, but I have included an extra segment featuring many TRON references that I think TRON fans will easily spot and enjoy. So here is the contest: Check the CV tech demo at DP booth and send me a list of all TRON references you've able to find. The list featuring the greater number of correct references will win an exclusive cartridge copy of this very demo! If there is a draw, I will randomly pick a winner. I am sure this cart will make for a nice collectible! The winner will receive your exclusive signed cartridge by CGE2003 time. Please send lists to [email protected] I will accept entries till April 8th. Enjoy! Eduardo Mello

Right, right... Good direct response... I was trying to sound generic but I think you got it... Eduardo Mello

Hi there! I was thinking: when you buy a new homebrew game for a classic system, do you prefer it follows a previous artwork template used by some classic maker or would you prefer something new and fresh? For example, the new Polo release features the red packaging used by Atari in late 80's. In other hand, Manuel Polik's Gunfight uses a completely original artwork that doesn't follow any previous classic "template". Comments? Eduardo Mello

Space Invaders Collection to be released at CGE2003
opcode replied to opcode's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hi Willie! Nice to talk to you again, Mr ColecoVision! Uhm... I don't know... I amn't sure yet... I am currently creating a special demo to show at PC4, and I was thinking about creating a limited Special Edition of SIC including that demo (as a second cart in the pack)... But I will wait to see as CV fans will react to my demo first... Anyway I will discuss the pre-release idea with Digital Press. I wasn't aware about Ms Space Fury going pre-release... Did DP offer some extra beside the game? Eduardo Mello -

For sure. And I think Digital Press will start accepting pre-orders after PC4, so you could take advantage of some discounts... Eduardo Mello -
Space Invaders Collection to be released at CGE2003
opcode replied to opcode's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yep, I didn't want to talk about it before PC4, but SIC will be cheap for a offset printed boxed 32KB cartridge game... But what do you mean about "love of the game"? I got the idea I was going to be rich.... Oh, well... Eduardo Mello -
Space Invaders Collection will be published through Digital Press at the Classic Gaming Expo and in turn will be available to the public on August 9th! The game will be packaged with a box, manual, and label and will NOT be expensive (definitely no more than $30 without various discounts). There will be a discount for CGE attendees and for pre-orders and the game will be available on the DP website after the show as well. A playable demo will be available and pre-orders taken at the CGE booth at PhillyClassic4. Space Invaders Collection is a new ColecoVision game programmed by Opcode Games and will include the following features: - Two games: Space Invaders and Space Invaders Part II (Deluxe) - Five different "screen types": Taito's b&w and color SI, Taito's color SI Part II, Midway's SI and Midway's SI Deluxe. - Option screen, allowing all arcade dip-switch settings. - Exclusive intro (featuring SNES mode 7 like effects). Check the demo at PhillyClassic. - All arcade hidden features. Please check the Opcode website. Eduardo Mello
