Very busy weekend wasn't it?  We had a very quick chat I think late Sunday as I was getting ready to pack up.

  4. Pitfall! and Enduro are Activision's two most overrated games.

Enduro is beautiful game, such a nice experience when you are "in the zone".

As far as favorite Activision game, for me it's Frostbite all the way.  So addictive.

Nice choices, Pitfall is a bit repetitious. I do like Enduro, when in a mood to cruise.

@DoctorSpuds That's an interesting, cool list of ATVI games. Kaboom! certainly is awesome. Not too much into sports games (Skiing) except for Atari Bowling, which I love. But your list made me think of Stampede, which I play quite a bit. Sort of fits the theme. Sometimes I can't get enough of that, even though I always fail to top 1500 on it!

Sweet!  I met Walter Day and Billy Mitchell at a pinball tournament/convention and I didn't get a pic, but I got their autographs on a Pac Man bumper sticker.

I'm not concerned with printer emulation at this point.

    4. DrVenkman

      DrVenkman

Yeah printer stuff is nice (and I’d love a good dot matrix emulation myself) but I really like the ATX support. There are some titles that use custom IO that won’t run from the SIDE loader. So in that case I’d just as soon run the ATX file as some random hack or crack.

Yep.  Just found out about it after listening to Antic podcast # 254. It was created by Paul Berker, creator of games Adventure in Time, and Birth of the Phoenix for the Atari 8 bit, and Apple II computers.

I have enough consoles eating up space at home. I'd be more inclined to buy software for existing consoles, than another box to have to plug in and dust off from time to time.

  15. This Atari XE / XL USB Power cord is one of the greatest things I've ever purchased. Now if one could be made for the 7800.. https://www.8bitclassics.com/shop/computers/atari-8-bit-computer/atari-xl-xe-usb-power-cable/

I'm definitely buying one of those, mainly so I don't have to dig out the bulky power brick whenever I want to use my 600xl. They should make usb power cables for other systems.

  16. Out of all the Atari products I own or have ever owned, my 65XE is probably my favorite product. I just wish my parents would have gotten me one as a kid.

Today, the 65XE and 130XE are pretty much the same. You'll probably never use the 130XE's ECI port, and the new memory upgrades have made the 130XE's extra RAM obsolete as well.

(And yes, I also coveted the XE machines for years back in the day. I still think they're pretty sharp-looking machines.)

Say what you want about Paul Gilbert's performance in "Women of the Prehistoric Planet," that was a pretty impressive back-flip. Unsurprising that he was an aerialist earlier in his career.

My condolences. I've had that experience a few times myself in recent years.

  22. Thanks to 8Bit Classics and the XL/XE USB Power Cable, my 65 XE is now (seemingly) working! I just need to test it in longer play sessions to be sure.
