  1. When marillion decided not to play fair by not following eBay's rightful terms he killed a potential good deal for roadrunner and everyone else that found the CIB Cannon Man. roadrunner was playing by the rules. He could have placed a bid to make it more complicated for marillion and other side dealers but the bid might draw more attention to the auction. I have used the same strategy. Sometimes it works and sometimes a side dealer plays unfair. roadrunner and everyone else got screwed out of a potential good deal for doing what? Playing by the rules. marillion tried to get a good deal by doing what? Not playing by the rules. What did kennybrooks do? He set things right by undoing what marillion shouldn't have done. I don't see how that is poor in character. When I saw your poor in character post I thought maybe you quoted the wrong person because it is the complete opposite of what I was thinking. When people don't play by the rules it forces us who do play by the rules to choose between getting screwed or also not playing by the rules. A big like on this post! I don't agree with a lot of the rules ebay has in place, but they are the rules and can't stand when people think they can ignore them for their own gain.
  2. Wow, seriously??? Did anyone else look at some of this guys other purchases???? Holy cow! He's certainly welcome to spend his money as he sees fit, but there's a point where it crosses into stupidity. Out of his 52 pages of purchases on ebay here's highlights of the first two: CIB Sky Diver $18 CIB Pac Man $30 CIB Skiing $38 CIB Robot Tank $43 CIB Boxing $48 CIB Ice Hockey $85 CIB Freeway $71 CIB Tennis $110 CIB MIssile Command $85 (he bought at least 3 of these) CIB Adventure $301 $301 for Adventure?!?!? To each his own. If he's willing to pay this kind of money, I'll sell my collection right now.
  3. Like cmart, I picked my bagged copy up 9-10 years ago from ebay for around $75. I really had to talk myself into spending that kind of money on this. Glad I did now of course.
  4. Got mine today too! Thanks Jose! Will be one of my prized pieces for many years.
  5. Apparently not based upon the one on ebay..... (who needs an end label anyway?)
  6. On the opposite side of the fence here, I never had an INTV growing up though I loved playing them at the local store kiosks. I had a 2600 and Colecovision so I was hardly deprived, but I always had a fascination for the system. There are some very well made games for it, It is well worth having.
  7. Right at $100 is pretty much my max. I've been collecting now for over 20 years and have never gone much more than $100 for anything. That includes my 2600 Cubicolor, INTV Spiker & Mud Buggies, 5200 Bounty Bob, and Colecovision CIB 'It's only Rock & Roll' to name a few. Of course most of these were purchased in my early days of collecting when $100 was nearly unheard of to spend for an 'old game'. Sadly, $100 will no longer touch what I need to fill in many of my collection holes.
  8. I'll be opening it! It will sit very nicely next to my Snow White that I purchased years ago at another expo.
  9. Completely agree. IMO grading completely ruined the comic world and sports card world. Now it's trying to make inroads into gaming. I have never bought anything graded and never would. In my mind it is an abomination.
  10. Looks like I'll need to set up a flikr site for this. It may take a while for me to get this done and get the proper pics, but I'll submit when I can.
  11. Facing the cold hard facts, my gaming items are just a collection at this point. I used to be a gamer. It was a significant part of my life. With age and more responsibilites (work, married life, etc.) my time to play anything in my collection is pretty much gone. I will still find a little time every few weeks or so for newer games on the xbox or Wii, but sadly, all my vintage items are just showpieces.
  12. I finally got through all my basement stock and recorded serial #s as I went. I just submitted 15 systems, 1 system changer, 1 computer, 1 Intellivoice, & 1 music synthesizer for you to add. I unfortunately only cataloged the system serial numbers while going through my excess so I don't have numbers for all my extra accessories handy and I'm not tackling that stack again!
  13. Let me know when you're ready to get the list set. I'm only 51% CIB, but I've got the the 125 between loose & CIB.
  14. How I wish I could have made the show this year. :-( Unfortunately other things in life just have to come first. Looking forward to getting this in the mail. This is one of a very few carts I've been waiting to get for years. Thanks for making it happen Wonder!
  15. Ok after comparing it to a 2600 cart label, I'm pretty convinced that it is not a label that someone has stuck on to replace it. The dimensions are right for a 2600 cart, but if you'll notice in the pic, there are no label folds in the appropriate places where they should be if it were removed from a 2600 cart. I think it's probably safe to say at this point that this isn't the elusive French Canadian version, but I'm frankly stumped by what kind of hybrid it is????
  16. You're right that the label is defintely not the same shape / size as what should be there. I can't say it's original or not as I bought it from ebay many many years ago. As I mentioned before, it is Intelly and it does work. I've always thought it unusual, but never really considered the possibility of the label being replaced. It doesn't show any signs of being peeled off another cart. Always a possibility I guess. Any chance Parker Bros subbed this label if they somehow ran short of the true one?
  17. Ok, I got home and checked my Super Cobra and instructions. While not in wonderful condition, it is defintely a silver label. The instructions are only in English, but mention that they are printed in Canada and the warranty return address is in Canada (Ontario). I'm assuming not the French Canadian version, but still not sure why the difference in the label. Here are pics. Anyone have any insight?
  18. Is there variation on the Super Cobra cart itself or is this just a box and packaging variation? I ask because while I don't have the box, I do have a cart. The ones I've seen online all seem to be the standard beige color. Mine has a silver label however. Before the question is asked, yes I am sure it is the Intellivision version. I have play tested it. I can't recall, but I think I have the instuctions as well and they may be in dual English / French. I'll have to verify when I get home tonight.
  19. Is there variation on the Super Cobra cart itself or is this just a box and packaging variation?
  20. Congrats to the seller on a major payday on this! Very nice score! I have to say that the Sears Superman pic label is my holy grail cart. For whatever reason, I really like the Sears stuff. Given a choice I would take this over an Atlantis II or Air Raid any day of the week. All that being said, there's no way I'd ever consider spending $1200 for this. I'll give props to the seller, but personally question the sanity of the buyer. (and yes, I do realize what I am saying here. I don't consider Atlantis II or Air Raid worth $1200 either. Personal opinion only and one obviously not shared by some).
  21. Extremely impressive. So much for my fantasy of having the best collection in NW Ohio.
  22. I think it depends on the O2. Qbert and Super Cobra work on my O2, but I hear it doesn't work on all of them . Frogger and Popeye don't work on any US O2 from what I understand. I could have sworn that Frogger & Popeye worked on my O2 model with the removable controllers. If I get a chance in the near future I'll have to dig it out and try them again.
  23. My guess is that he is storing them up for the looming apocalypse...If you think about it, when the poop hits the fan in December, it's going to be impossible to find these things! Thanks a lot Mayan civilization...way to fudge everything up with your shitty calendar. LOL, that jerk outbid me for quite a few games. If i had a voodoo doll i'd stick pins in it. You would think he would stop at 2 or 3 copy's of a rare game but nooooooo. While i'm at it another ebay lowlife is johnsgirl2 aka crazy1*2010 That jerk keeps buying the same games over and over and over...etc He likes to buy manuals and boxes and add them together and jack up the price when he resells them. Come to think of it they might be the same person. they rarely bid on the same item. johnsgirl2 is definitely a re-seller. I've gone head to head on many a Sears game in the last 10 months and have seen them purchase multiple copies of many things. I've seen them relist the same items with a pretty substantial markup. I've tracked them in detail after a purchase of some Sears games from them that ended up being in horrible condition. They mentioned in the ad that they were "rough", but all the pictures only showed the good side. The non seen side of every box was completely ripped like they were stuck together. They didn't lie, but I just felt very decieved and would never do business with them again.
  24. Good luck with that. I find myself becoming less and less interested in the hobby lately for exactly these reasons. I've been collecting now for over 20 years griding away slowly at fleas and garage sales. So many times I'm seeing someone come in to collecting and build a comperable collection in the span of a year or so. It's become less of a fun and social trading hobby and more of a look at me and how much money I have hobby. I'm painting a broad brush here and I know that is not the case for a LOT of collectors. It just seems that the ones that DO do this are really vocal about it. Just my 2 cents worth. I've backed off of the boards for a few weeks now and think it might be time to put the collecting on hold. Maybe I can come back with a better attitude.
