  1. Not everybody has to have a perfect specimin for their collection. If I didn't already have this box, I'd bid on it in a heartbeat.
  2. I would have bid more for the recent flattened Jetson's box, but the entire top was cut off. That doesn't mean I wasn't interested, but it went for more than it was worth in that condition.
  3. Here 'ya go folks. Since I'll have no chance at this auction all you Congo Bongo box needin' folks take a look and we'll see what this gets upt to.... http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FIntellivision-I-and-II-with-games-and-many-accessories-%2F281069729529%3Fpt%3DVideo_Games%26hash%3Ditem41710fb6f9
  4. Wow, the box clinches it for me. I was pretty sure before, now I'll be getting a set for sure. Count me in!
  5. This is just my opinion mind you as I know that there are a considerable number of others on this board that don't see it this way at all. I feel that as the population base gets older, core collectors are going to want what they had in their youth. Right now that is games of the 70's and 80's for the people with the income to purchase. Collection prices reflect that in recent years skyrocketing beyond what I thought it ever would reach. From what I understand, NES & SNES are starting to become extremely hot now as well which makes sense for collectors who grew up with these games. I just don't see vintage games getting the same respect that comics / coins / stamps have received. Even today, I go into an antique shop and ask about any vintage games and usually get a very strange look as if they are questioning my sanity. Couple that with the fact that these games will eventually fail and become unplayable and I'm even more convinced that there will never be long term value in classic game collecting. I collect for the nostalgia factor and because it's something I simply enjoy. I will not put significant money into the hobby. $100 is the most I've ever spent on a game and the most I will ever spend. I prefer to play the waiting game for collectors to get bored and move on. Prices will then start to come back down to Earth. If I'm wrong and they end up being a hot collectible for years to come, then I just won't be adding much more to my collection. I've been buying since '92 so my collection is already substantial. I'll live with what I have and be happy with that.
  6. Congratulations! Great score in general let alone in the wild! Common games no longer exist in the wild in my area let alone this. I'd love to get this box someday. Already have the game, but it is one of the few O2 boxes I still need.
  7. Good luck with your effort! I try to go CIB where I can, but also realize that it will be impossible for me to complete the collection. The one thing that may work to your advantage is patience. I truely believe pre-NES will not hold any long term value. At some point prices are going to come back to earth and probably even bottom out when a lot of the current collectors either move on or pass on (as the case may be). Not sure how long that will take, but I'm convinced it will happen.
  8. Depends on your bankroll, but yes for some this reseller is just another bidder.
  9. Don't give up, but don't expect to get most things boxed anymore either. An "Average" collector is pretty much priced out the CIB market now. Speed collectors and resellers have pushed those prices past the point of reason for most things. It's no longer a cheap little hobby like it was several years ago.
  10. Don't even get me started..... Glad to see I'm not the only person that's noticed this reseller.
  11. That low? I'm extremely cheap (AKA just don't have any money), and I'd probably lay out $60-$70 to get one without hesitating.
  12. Sweet! Let me know. I'm not usually too picky about condition. As long as there's no major rips, tears, or defacements.
  13. I noticed that as well, but for the BIN prices listed on the above items it was definitely worth the risk.
  14. I wish you wouldn't have told me that!! I've been looking for that box for ages now. I had one locked up on a nice BIN around Christmas and the seller backed out of the deal.
  15. Nice pickup on the Diner! I'm envious on that one. Pays to be in the right place at the right time. I haven't had that opportunity in a while.
  16. Wow, I've always considered myself to be very anal rententive, possibly a bit over the edge even, but wow... :-o
  17. Dang! So much for me sneaking this by and getting it for a song!!! BIG LOL!!!
  18. I noticed that myself, although I really thought he was already there.
  19. Crazy Climber in this large lot if anyone wants it: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 390546350585
  20. Congrats! They're defintely nice pieces. I knew the DK & DK Jr would go for a bit of money but never thought it would pass $120. I got mine on ebay for only like $30 each just a couple years ago. Looks like the Zaxxon will now be my white whale.
  21. I guess someone wanted the whole collection on these and did what they had to to get them! Wow. I'd have loved to have gotten that Zaxxon to complete my set but it was just a touch higher than I could comfortably go. Congrats to the winner if their around. These are defintely my favorite Colecovision pieces.
  22. He called it at 2K!!! (or pretty darn close anyway). The UtahMountainRose pedrigree easily adds at least 25% to pretty much any item. The buyer got a NICE copy, but is it really worth paying that much more for?
  23. Call me vendictive, but there is one reseller out there that burned me in the past sale. When I notice them bidding on somthing I'm interested in, I always push the bid more than I would have in the first place. Sometimes I'll get the item (which is fine), othertimes I make them seriously pay for it. Either way is a win for me.
