I'd throw the last one into the mix as well. There are a few semi-regulars on these boards that use absolutely rediculous BINs for their items. One regularly deals works the Colecovision board and the another handles a lot of higher end Atari stuff.

I think it's just the general increase in prices myself for anything CIB. The trend is pricing me out of collecting.

Intellivision What's in the Box (WITB) Thread
Atari_Bill replied to boxpressed's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Looks like a newbie constantly pushing the price up to me. This is high for a just a box auction. -
It's one of the best Vectrex games in my opinion. I can't say it's overly rare, but it's one that just about every Vectrex owner wants.

Wow! Guess I should have bid a bit more for the lot that had a really nice one on ebay a month of so ago that went for $68.

Seems like a bad time to start collecting.....
Atari_Bill replied to Cobra Kai's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I only really collect pre-NES (although I do have maybe 100 NES carts that I've picked up along the way). To me, I consider it a bad time to collect anything right now. My area is also completely overrun with people falling over themselves to get ANYTHING to flip. I see the same folks waiting outside of the local thrifts before they open at least a few times a week. Collecting pre-NES even is nothing short of futility. You will NOT find it in the wild in my area and ebay is filled with stalkers looking to grab anything they can and flip it back to ebay at a 200-300% markup. A prime example was just pointed out in another thread. Collecting does not provide nearly the enjoyment it used to be to me. -
Welcome back!

Vintage games on Pawnstars, Auction Hunters, ETC
Atari_Bill replied to VicViper's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I figured as much. I still don't know why some folks accept their offers in the first place when they're obviously so low balled. -

Put me down for $2000. (not my bid, but my estimate on final). -
Vintage games on Pawnstars, Auction Hunters, ETC
Atari_Bill replied to VicViper's topic in Classic Console Discussion
In more news for this thread, did anyone happen to see Pawn Stars last night? Someone brought in (2) Nintendo World Championship games. One grey and one gold. I think he wanted $30,000 for both if I recall correctly. Of course the shop didn't even get close to that and he ended up keeping them. I was shocked that he had both though. He had documentation showing he had purchased them from a contest finalist. -

Unfortunately this happens more and more lately. I've got my own opinions of the practice but I'm just too tired to complain about it anymore. Moving on.... -
That's what he said....

I don't often spring for something newly produced, but how can you not purchase something so legandary as the CIB Tempest!!!!! Order submitted!

Defintely sound reasoning. Makes a lot of sense what you are saying, but after playing games for so many years, it is REALLY tough to accept the idea that the least important part of a game collection is the game iteself. I collect loose when I find it, but try to get CIB when possible. Boxed prices like this make it really frustrating.

This is the price of just a "box" now????? Holy crap. Makes me wonder why I even bother to keep trying to work on my collection. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F160970854310%3FssPageName%3DSTRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT%26_trksid%3Dp3984.m1423.l2649

Bally Astrocade manuals value?
Atari_Bill replied to JasonlikesINTV's topic in Bally Arcade/Astrocade
Were you the one who topped me on ebay for the "Lot of manuals"? I saw several Astrocade manuals mixed in, but was interested in the Intelly Jetsons manual primarily. I wanted to bid higher, but the seller seemed sketchy and I was afraid that the stack shown wouldn't be the stack received. -

I don't think ebay cares about anything but getting as many of your dollars as they can. -

Have you seen the new Atari 2600 Hot Wheels cars?
Atari_Bill replied to lanatrzczka's topic in Atari 2600
I put in a request a while back to get the display when our Krogers was getting rid of it. Didn't really think they would ever call me about it. They just did! I heading over to pick it up! Can't wait to place it in the game room. -

Not surrpised. For whatever reason these things always bring an enourmous sum. I personally don't see the attration here and I'm glad I have no interest in them. Tops I'd be willing to pay is $30 and that ain't gonna happen. -

I felt the same way at first. After communicating with him and finding out who it was, I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
